  1. actually famous just means you have fame, infamous means you are famous for a bad reason. =P~ We've covered that one
  2. It would appear you are correct, my bad #-o
  3. Despite famous and infamous actually meaning the same thing, ave fun, andcongrats for breaking free of RS! All the best in the future
  4. Chow for now! You'll be back...
  5. Oh good, you should know one that is local then. Thats very unlucky to have both your mums die within 6 years though. At least it was, like you say, painless. Let us know how things go.
  6. French: Goatee, horizontally striped blue and white long sleeved shirt, eat nothing but baguettes, croissants and frogs legs. Germans: Lederhosen, meatlovers, eat salami on toast, salami on biscuits, salami on cake and salami on salami. Swiss: Yodelling lederhosen clad butch guys. Very muscular. Dutch: Windmills, laid back, never learnt to speak proper German so they speak their own interpretation. Swedes: Apart from loving the name, Blonde hair blue eyed nation, typical Aryan race, stunning women and a very clean, beautiful country Spaniards: Fight bulls and throw tomatoes at each other. Italians: Typical Italian stallion style men, with their materialistic but oh-so-gorgeous girlfriends. Greeks: Very friendly people, but they cannot play football or build things on time (i.e. 2004 Olympics) Russians: Amazing accents, very big, very muscular (and thats just the women!), their government seems to like acting out the movies though. Australians: Steve Irwin types (RIP), typical greeting being 'G'day mate'. Wander around in just-above-the-knee, off-white shorts, and a hat with corks hanging off. They also pwn England at cricket! Japanese: Technological geniuses, live in high-rise buildings and have never seen the green grass grow. Koreans (South): Eat dogs, scred of the North. Koreans (North): Nobody knows, thats why they appear so mysterious.... AND FINALLY: Americans: Can't tell the difference between Lager and Ale, can't tell the difference between trousers and pants, or football and soccer for that matter.
  7. Talk to a counsellor. Seriously, they are not all there for nutcases, a lot of people go to grievance counselling, to talk over things with someone who understands and can help. My nan is currently dying, and while I have a good relationship with her, the hospice has offered me counselling when she does ie, and I think I will probably take it. It's not easy to get over the death of someone so close, especially when you part on such bad terms, but in time, and possibly with counselling, the thoughts going through your head over and over will fade, and you will remember the happy times you had with her. If you don't go to counselling, at least talk it over with your Dad, family member or friend. A decent Counselling careline is supposed to be this: 0845 122 8622. Their website is http://www.patient.co.uk/showdoc/26739387/. Do you mind me asking how she died?
  8. Lol, for being ungrateful when other kids don't get much at all. Anyways, I'm gunna stop talking now, cus I'm starting to look greedy and immature!
  9. That key change always gets me Theres a load of links on the previous page if you are interested Issy, about half way down.
  10. Lol! That sounds so much like my Mum at times, its untrue! Menopause eh!? rushrock, I think Im actually gunna go with 4. Maybe its the 2000m I just swam, I dunno, but I've somehow found optimism. I mean, I don't even know how good it is yet, it could be really cool. I'll wait and see. Man, I feel selfish now... And no, I'm 18, I really don't expect presents anymore, I try to tell my Mum that but she's hell-bent on spending as much on me ad my twin sis as she does on my younger sister who is 14.
  11. Actually no, you haven't 'thwarted me', you have told me your point of view, you actually have very little hard proof for any of your hypothesis. I don't believe X-Factor is a 'Dream Factory', I never implied that, I made a topic about a single contestant. i would hardly generalise this as thinking that it is a dream factory. I made a post listing people who had actually had a career after being on these shows, yes, and you must accept that people like Lemar, Girls Aloud, have been pretty successful, and I think that these shows are a great place to find real talent, as has been shown with Leona, but nonetheless, I do not see them as dream factories. I said before and I will say it again, perhaps if you looked at life with a little more optimism, you may find a little more sunshine comes into your life!
  12. Nice in theory, but my cousins are all at least 14, and we never see em! I simply don't have any young family, oranybody really that age.
  13. Hmm, the problem with this solution is that it gives her 2 options: 1. Take it back, which uses up more of her time, which is half of the reason I feel bad about it anyway 2. Give it t me anyway, knowing what I had said about it. Listening to other people I think the only option really is to sit and wait, see what happens, and if it does turn out to be for me, seem grateful and appreciative. In the meantime though I think I need to do everything I can to make her life easier. Thanks for the help guys. EDIT: And Issy :P
  14. Issy, you always know how to put a shine on things! And no, we saw my Aunt and Uncle last week an they live about 100 miles away, so it won't be for that cousin, and we never see the other cousin so it won't be for him. There is no-one else I can think of to be honest tha it could be for.
  15. Its not the actual materialistic value of it, as I have a job and can afford to buy most things by myself if I want them, its the fact that she is really stressed and strapped for time at the moment, and I feel kinda guilty that she has put herself out and gone to get this for me, when it's not something that I partcularly want. As I said, I have a bit of a complex about unwanted gifts, so I guess this is part of whats bothering me. I guess I just need to sit it out, as you say How2PK, it may all be a misunderstanding anyway. Does anyone else get to the point where they feel guilty about their parentsgoing out and spending a lot of time and money on them, when there is really no need, when you have got to the age that christmas is no longer about recieving presents?
  16. Thats not what I asked, and that is not in the least constructive or helpful
  17. Its not that I can't talk to my parents about suff like this, but at the moment things are a bit tricky, my Nan is dying, and she is going to die soon, so obviously my Mum is pretty upset and very pushed for time, as she is having to do a lot or her. I don't really want to tell her then, that the money would probably have been better spent somewhere else, as I should really be grateful she found the time at all to go out and get something.
  18. Ok, so I was in my Mums wardrobe the other day looking for batteries, when I found a 1/10th scale radia control F1 Car. As I am the only guy in our family (apart from my Dad of course), I am assuming that it is for me for X-mas. Now, I don't want people flaming me saying 'OMG, be grateful!', but I'm 18, and have never expressed an interest in cars particularly. I am therefore pretty confused, there are quite a few other things my Mum could have got me. I am wondering if it is for me, and if it is, I can't help thinking that it will never get used... I have a bit of a complex about gratitude, I cannot bear the thought of people being ungrateful for gifts, or gifts being unwanted, but I'm really confused about this, anyone got any advice?
  19. You remind me a hell of a lot of someone I know, who thinks that every prson in the world is out to make money and to screw other people over. He also thinks that everything is fascist or going communist. Basically he is a bit of an idiot. And actually, a decent chunk of money goes to charity, so these 'money grabbing producers' are clearly not all bad. Have a little faith in people, it will get you further in life than being continuously pessimistic. We digress! This is not what the topic is about...
  20. Pretty much, I think it is possible she will be bigger than Kelly Clarkson though. Have a look at the videos.
  21. Whilst it got more votes overall than the General election, the General election was at a somewhat disadvantage due to the fact that each person can only vote once. Not every show got 8 million votes either, it was only because it was the final that it got that obscene amount. Anyway, we are getting off-topic...
  22. Actually, that is complete rubbish, 26.4 million people voted in the 2001 General election, the total number of votes for Saturday nights show was 8 million, and you can be sure as hell that it wasn't 8 million different people voting. And as for Reality TV shows, some of the winners do take off, statistically though the runenrs up have as good a chance as the winners at 'making it'. Lemar was runner up, Liberty X were runners up, however Will Young was the winner (but has since faded somewhat), Girls Aloud were winners (I think), but they are the only ones to really come out with anything. Granted then, that the likes of Shane Lynch, Gareth Gates, G4, One True Voice and Hear'Say have all faded into nothingness.
  23. Similar for me - RollerCoaster Designer Wow, how do you qualify to design rollercoasters? Is it a Civ-Eng course that specialises in Roller Coasters in the MEng final year or what?
  24. Linkage. The bottom one is going to be her first single, and its amazing Summertime All by myself A Moment Like this (Single)
