  1. Just updated my post above to fully explain the Tesla Coil. Fried anything else? Howabout your Christmas turkey, or did you succumb to the conventional oven for that one?
  2. Anyone else having problems with entering their email address?
  3. The RSPCA don't deal wit pidgeons, in thesame way as they don't deal with rats or squirrels. Thats quite cute, we've had to deal with a few hurt or dying birds because our cat got em, they usually end up dying but its worth a try. Don't give it anyting like paracetamol, it is far too strong for the size of animal, even if you break it down.

Asssassin says, I respect you a lot for your views on that. I don't have an issue with people who want to smoke in private, and have the upmost consideration for the needs and wants of other people, because then the only person that your decision makes you affect is yourself. If you know the risks, as you say, its your choice, I personally cannot understand your decision but nevertheless it is your choice. I have an issue though, with smokers who are inconsiderate to other people, who smoke around them regardless and as a result mae other people breathe in carcinogenic smoke, and make other people smell of smoke. If all smokers were like you, I don't think non-smokers would resent smokers nearlly half as much, but unfortunately a lot of people in this world look after number 1 first, and sod everybody else, and this carries through to their smoking habits. This then, is why smoking has gained a bad reputation and why it is resented by many who do not partake in it. In summary, a message to smokers is this: Learn from FuBai's post, if you are a considerate smoker who respects the needs of other people, you will most likely be accepted into social groups much better, and there need not be such a division in opinion and stance.
  5. Actually no, you would only get hurt once you touched the ground. If you threw something into it when it was discharging, it would not get fried, because it is not earthed. It only gets zapped if you have it attached to a wire that is touching the ground.
  6. Yep, we did this at school. It is basically a concave mirror, yet less efficient. I guarantee that a decent proportion people saying 'Wow' on this topic atually have something very very similar to this in their own houses: A satelite dish. It's basically so that you can have a small, inexpensive reciever detecting intense signals, rather than a large, expensive reciever detecting weak signals over the surface area equivalent of the dish. A project me and a few mates are working on at school at the moment is a teslacoil. Now those are cool! See the bottles underneath? They are all filled with exactly the same amount of brine (Salt water), and are all connected by a wire. They act as basically a massive capacitor which will deliver a huge current when the spark gap voltage is exceeded. In basic terms, you plug your mains supply into a small coil of wire, and put that next to a wire with a large number of coils in it. This is basically a transformer, which steps up the voltage of your mains supply by hundreds of times. This is then wired in Parallel to a High voltage Capacitor (The beer bottles). In parallel with the capacitor is a primary coil and a physical spark gap. When the voltage from the capacitor exceeds that of the voltage needed to breach the spark gap, the circuit sparks and the capacitor discharges through the primary coil. This primary coil then steps up the voltage again to secondary coil, with more coils on it than the primary coil. This secondary coil is then wired to a discharge plate or Torus, (the silver bit on top), wher it discharges to the surrounding air, the walls, or anything withing reach. This whole contraption means that an obscene voltage is discharged from the top of the Torus, making it extremely dangerous if you are anywhere near it and are earthed, and it also makes it extremely cool! I wouldn't advise making one unless you know what you are doing, they are VERY dangerous, people can, do and have died from using them, the knacker any fine electrical circuits due to the strong electromagnetic pulse the emit, and the are very noisy. But damn are they worth it!

That's a ridiculous argument. So because the world sucks, we should let you do whatever you want and inhale your toxins into our bodies? I don't see how anyone could possibly defend smoking. It's harmful, it costs money, and it harms others, even. It makes you smell gross, it tastes gross, and if you need it to relax you, then you've got problems. I'm sorry, I thought quoting Bill Hicks might help lift the spirits of this topic a little. Clearly it was a lost cause. The Scottish (and soon British) government has banned smoking in all enclosed public places, but that doesn't seem to be enough to some people. I'm quite happy to smoke outside when I'm at the pub, even on freezing winter nights. If I'm outside, why isn't that enough for some people? Because whilst considerate smokers are fine, a lot of smokers who are asked to go and smoke outside when they are in a non-smoking building, do so, but they stand in the doorway so that you still get the smoke wafting in and out, and you still have to walk through the cloud of carcinogens to get in and out of the building.
  8. Wow dude, i'm so proud of you. The average 13 year old around here is like less than 5 feet. @Cads: Whenever. HANG YE C0LORD KITTENS. Yeah, most of the little kiddies are midgets and all baby sized around here. They cri like lil babis. First of all, lurn 2 spel. They cri like lil babis. They cry like little babies. Second of all, You have 70 posts, you sure have been around Tip'it for quite some time! Third, I can't help I'm short. It comes in the family :P That is all, Thank you. Lay off him, you judge people by the quality of their posts, not the quantity. So much for a welcoming atmosphere to Tip.It. :-k He wasn't talking directly to you so this post is completely uncalled for.

I can say with almost complete certainty that she does not have 'perfect lungs'. Each cigarette she smokes deposits a certain amount of tar inside her lungs, something which non-smokers simply do not get. If she hadn't smoked for years her lungs would be nearlly perfectly healthy with no tar deposits and she would have a greater lung capacity than she does now. Tar on the lining of your lungs disrupts the exchange of carbon dioxide/oxygen in the alveoli, decreasing the total surface area for gas exchange and reducing the efficiency of your lunggs. Now tell me she has perfect lungs...
  13. Im talking about the Frappr. It is still technically against TIF rules. I've PM'ed Slimfar to see what the 'official line' on it is. Good idea though, I hope we get a 'yes'.
  14. I think we need to just OK this with a TIF admin before we go ahead.

Nope, to quote Ace Ventura 'Its a.....disgusting habit.' Honestly I cannot see why people would possibly want to take it up. I don't particularly feel like I am missng out on anything by not smoking, I don't have to burning compassion to find out what it is like, why do other people take up the habit? Why, with all of the known current disadvantagtes, hazards to health and all other negativities to smoking, are people still taking up smoking? I sympathise with people who want to stop smoking and can't, because it is an addiction, but to anyone that wants to start, why?! Its beyond me
  16. Which cardinal direction? \ I live about 3 Miles away from Fenway park according to Google eauthh =D> (Roslindale,Mass FTW) East  (Won't say...Privacy reasons...) You live on a port? I think that was what the smiley was for, he was taking the mick!

  19. Banned for having an abysmal excuse for a banning.
  20. Wow, what a claim to fame! How? vmser, not quite sure I understand that!? You found someones crate of beer? Was it full?
  21. Lol, I was about to post that. Yeh, having to run for your life from Blue Dragons when you are level 106 is somewhat undignified, I find!
  22. Fair doos. Problem is it doesn't work doing it from a landline as your parents realise that they have a 5 minute call to a premium rate number!
  23. Has anyone ever met someone on Tip.It that they now in real life but never realised who they were? Example: I got a PM from someone tonight, saying to the effect of 'Hey, I was reading your profile on the TET page and I'm from Nottingham too' I was intrigued obviously, and gradually it turned out that we actually live about 300 metres from each other, go to the same school as each other and study some of the same subjects! I mean, what are the chances of that!? Has anyone else had PM's from people saying that they live in the same town/city as you and were wondering if they knew you?
  24. Grats I guess. You could always do what I do and pay for membership by text - your parents need never know :anxious:
  25. It would appear you are correct, my bad #-o *Sighs*
