  1. Don't get your hopes up. RSC will be abandoned after a month again, just like last time. I wanted to start all over on rsc, with the endgoal of doing all the quests. Started with herblore since that is like the #1 way to make money in rsc, but in the first weeks rsc was overrun and all herb supplies were bought out. (couple of shops per world, same stock for everyone) and after a couple of weeks everyone was gone, shops were filled but noone to sell you unids/herbs... EDIT: I'm stocking up on herb supplies now and with all the new guys coming I'll buy a bunch of herbs from them. EDIT 2: I guess that referral thingy won't work on RSC, right? :-P
  2. Imagine how much all those computers would cost though. Even if they were all used and old(in which case a lot of bots couldn't be ran on them) it would still take a while to pay them off. You also have to pay the people making sure bots don't malfunction, check to make sure computers aren't having problems, etc. Gold is priced at .65 per mill(?) and estimating that green dragon bots can make 400k per hour, then you're making ~$.30 per bot per hour. Looking at the pics they have ATLEAST 100 computers which are all running 8(# from the screens on the first pic) per computer. 800 bots making $.30 per hour is $240 per hour. You have to pay the electricity bills, price of the computers(would take a long time to pay off), and the people who manage the bots. Even though they probably have 300+ computers at this place, I doubt it's good cash compared to what people in the US/UK make on average. I don't know the average wages in China so I could be completely wrong about everything in this post(may be great money in that part of the world). I love calculating so I'll post my two cents too. Fist: Price of the computers won't cost that much as you are thinking. They can probably buy large quantities directly from manufacturers. So no extra cost for brand name, taxes, import taxes, less shipping, ... That aside, take a look at the other costs: People who manage the bots are paid like 10$/day? Let's assume you need 24 to run them 24/7. 240$/day for labour. Electricity is maybe another 240$/day. Cost of memberships, assuming they pay the full ammount and don't use stolen credit cards comes to 800 x 6$ = 4800$. Divided by 30 that gives 160$/day. Cost of maintaining a gold-selling website, some cheap advertisement and rent. 80$/day. = 720$/day in cost + price of computers. I'll take your guess of 240$ profit/hour, that gives 5760$ profit/day - 720$ costs = 5040$ profit/day One week gives 35.280$ and covers your investment of 100 computers. After that one week you're gaining 151.200$/month per 100 computers. I don't know how much you make, but I don't make that much.
  3. It's a trap! That wasn't jagex that was a hacker. Exit everything out and virus scan for trojans. Change your pass on a safe computer first though.
  4. I think you missed the J-mod quote saying they would consider that bug abuse. If they are as effective with catching bug abusers as they are with botters, you might as well though...
  5. Thanks for the answer! I am not annoyed at all by you asking for donations btw, you have your goal and stick to it, which is very admirable. The rumour, if there ever was any, is hereby denied then. Maybe it works like a telethon, people are much more generous when nearing the end.
  6. Was hoping too that new rewards would revive that minigame. Oh well. <_< Quite excited about the whole update until I saw the armour can only be used in minigames. Meh... 880k produce points to unlock everything at livid farm now, great. They missed an opportunity here. Edit: 60k gop tokens for the new rc outfit. Thought they were making RS less grindy.
  7. I don't think he has the money already, 200m all buyables cost about 15b total, he has some finished and personally i've calculated some time ago he still needed 12b cash. I know of one 1,7b donation to him and some 100m/200m's but i doubt he has received more than 4b in donations. Also i don't think he is gonna tell you how much he has ;p Hmmm, over 2610m gp (if I calculated correctly) in donations mentioned on his interview to Tip.it. You speak of a 1,7b donation, that adds up to 4310m. I've seen numerous trade screens posted on this thread too. (and I can imagine not everyone posts pics about it or is a tip.it'er)
  8. He is a hypocrit if your assumptions are correct, but without his late turnaround, isn't he right about donations? You do get 200m skills in buyables faster, but for many, moneymaking is an essential part of those buyable skills. Since you don't do any of the moneymaking yourself, can you really say it is 'you' that got them and call it 'your achievement'? We all blame Jagex for the sellout and almost everyone wants free trade/old wild reversed but the top playersr list would be looked upon in a very different way without the return of free trade. If I am allowed to ask one question to our top player: Suomi? How much bank worth do you have now? You keep asking for donations for your 200m goal when you might have the money in your bank already.
  9. True, I wonder if getting hold of a bank account would yeald more actually, large and obscure transactions are flagged and won't go through. Trading a phat set to your own RS-account gives approximately 10b? At dumping RWT prices that is 5000$. Not bad for a 'hard days work'.
  10. Well so far I've managed to turn my 15M cash pile into 41M since I've been unmuted. Still not muted again, so that's a plus. No one from the clan has harrassed me either. I actually managed to get about 6 or 7 people all spamming to trade with me and betting 100k-2m a piece. Ugh, I buy bandos chestplate, tassets, fury, and d claws figuring that I'll have to go boss hunt for cash, then the clan stops harrassing me lol. Guess I'll just sell it back (or maybe keep it until after the bonus exp weekend, I figure armor prices and what not usually go back up after those right?) Join the club... Got muted 3 times for hosting dice games, always for 2 days, not appealable and the mute got lifted after a couple of hours. On the prices: Yes, after bxpw prices tend to rise. But after summer prices of armour tend to fall, people go back to school and sell their armour to buy rares etc. Because they think by next summer their armour will decrease in value and rares only go up in the long term.
  11. Lol. And wtf, 'compormised'? It would be more convincing if they were spelling it correct.
  12. I was really upset about the flagstaff last year. Their explanation: it is an item to remember your presence at that particular irl event. Why would you want an item when you weren't there? Then came Katana. Their explanation: but it offers no ingame advantages!! Then came refer a friend. Their explanation: we need the money. Next step will be that Jagex sells RS-gold and xp imo... ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ @wicked: 100% true ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Mod Mat K: "Ok, so next up is the word 'marketing'. Yes I know, to some people it is a profanity, but it is important. Now, remember in the third paragraph I mentioned about being a commercial company... well this is where marketing fits in. The bottom line is we have to make money. However, making money is not what is important to you and rightly so. What is important to you is what we do with that money. The money we make is ploughed straight back into Jagex so we can get more developers to make content or design systems to take out more bots. As a gamer, I can put up with things like the Katana and Refer a Friend if I know I am going to benefit from this money. Jagex makes money, but you benefit from that money with better games and content. " They made millions/year profit last years and yet no bot detection system could be made and updates became crappier and crappier. Now their revenue is decreasing + they are owned by venture capitalists but now they will tackle the bots + make better updates. Yeah right...
  13. I used a thread on RSOF, Quick find code: 17-18-734-63098808 to base my upgrade from yellow -> red on a couple of weeks ago. Did yellow + 393m for red, could have had red now for less apparently. :ohnoes: Watch out though, a lot of people on that thread are price manipulators...
  14. +1 But the effects were never seen so clearly as now.
  15. He joined 10 minutes ago and the first thing he posts is a link in General Discussion. How did you not think something phishy was going on? No virus here.. Why people distrust others so much. Panic! omg, got me for a sec. I knew I clicked the link earlier this evening. Thanks for posting that, pulli23!
  16. So every time you logon, you have more exciting/funner stuff to do than logon. Why do you even play RS then? Edit: Never mind, not going to be sucked into this any further. I have more exciting stuff to do than continue an endless discussion. (I even rather play a minigame tbh. ) You win and your e-peen will enlarge accordingly.
  17. "Is there something else – some other activity, either in-game or IRL – that you'd RATHER be doing, that you'd enjoy doing more than Temple Trekking, than spending that additional time Temple Trekking to get those items that really serve no purpose whatsoever?" I have the weird habit to enjoy playing online games. (Since this is a weird stance, apparently I stand alone in this and all the other online players are masochists.) The question asked what activity I would enjoy more than Temple Trekking. When I was done with work at that evening, made dinner, turned on the computer, saw the update. There was nothing I rather did than play before mentioned update, even 6 hours if I had the time. You've made me see the light btw. Going to see a psychiatrist now. I don't understand the fuss tbh. We all play the same game, if we had something better to do each and every moment than play that particular game. Wouldn't we all be retired players? :-?
  18. With an attitude like that you'll never be allowed in the cool-guys efficiency club! (Sorry, couldn't restrain myself from posting that. )
  19. Yup. Since efficiency debates reign over Tip.It: Will this new update help lower the cost of electricity for bot companies? And thus help counter global warming?? Considering bots run 24 h/day and run 7 days/week. This gives a total of 168 hours/week. For an existing bot (10% extra) this means a productivity increase of 16,8 hours and for a new bot (100% extra) this gives a productivity increase of a whopping 168 hours! Meaning 184,8 hours less per week on two accounts to gain the same xp!! (More xp gained per computer will also also mean less computers needed in total for the same result!)
  20. Not really. That's... kinda sad actually. Excuse me? We are both playing the same game, we are on a fansite of that game but we can't speak up loud we enjoy playing the game? That is sad to me... You sir, just described Runescape! EDIT: love your siggy pulli23!
  21. I can try to relate to your point, but these kind of updates well keep me personally hooked on RS. In my eyes it is fun to do, not grindy whatsoever and gives a neat reward at the end: teleport to mort'ton which makes my future barrow-trips more enjoyable. Read as: It is enjoyable to get the reward and will make my RS-time afterwards more enjoyable. = WIN-update for me.
  22. I know it wasn't directed to me, but I would like to take Blyaunte's quiz too... Firstly: You forgot that in the time that you get the new construction clothes, you will probably also get full lumberjack. + a handy teleport + the infinite pouch thingy + talon beast charms + a whole bunch of either xp or herbs + other stuff. But that aside. Around 8 hours to get almost all of the rewards. Yup, it would. Captain obvious here. No it wouldn't. If you actually played the content, you would know that you gain coins by doing temple trekking. + free xp in summoning/construction/woodcutting/... Not really. I remember the time I grinded my last 288k construction xp though, I would have loved doing something else at that time. Especially since 99 construction serves no purpose whatsoever beyond a cosmetic reward. :-? Since I answered no on the previous question, this question is invalid imo. So because obtaining Constructor's outfit would take me around 7,5 hours longer than powerlevelling 288k construction xp this update is mostly useless... You can't make me understand it either, I don't see the logic in that. #-o Every update must make the xp/hour better, gain more money than the best moneymakers ingame atm or it is 'mostly useless'. Weird view on game updates.
