  1. Please. And mind what I said about magic (as currently planned) not being available at the beginning. Actually, did I forget to discuss that in the first post? Crap, lemme go fix that. Sorry for the confusion.
  2. Earth, please, a bookscythe? That's a stupid idea even by Dungeoneering standards. Please stop posting if you don't have a reasonable contribution, I'm trying to keep the thread tidy until the game starts.
  3. Okay, edited in my description of the Fallen on the first post. Also, I'll be updating the poll in a sec.
  4. No, to Edel's plan, for now at least. I wanna be the vehicles specialist. What are our current funds and equipment? I would like to ask how to shut down the surveillance systems.
  5. VIX!!! :) So glad you're back. Just when we could use a vote for RPs, too.
  6. Shifters. Sliders. Breakers. Binders. Angels. Shades. Flutters. Fades. Rimes. Raisers. Chimes. Blazers. Gods. Grims. Nods. Rims. These are the curses, these are the crimes, These are the our verses, these are our rhymes, To keep them at bay, to lie them to rest, As Marrestra commands, and may we be blessed. -------------------------------------------------------------------- ---The echoes of Bard's singing fades, giving way to his quiet laughter. Lena had once asked him what he found so funny about the rhyme, one that doomed their kind and sowed the seeds of hatred in even the youngest children of Lestrai. She hadn't really wanted an answer, simply an excuse to point out his flaws after a failed mission. He had explained, as one would to a particularly slow child, the irony of them calling the Fallen gods while at the same time saying that the god-given mission of Lestrians was to exterminate them. She had broken his lute. ---Bard had been quite distressed at that; his music and, by extension, his instruments, were his life. And when a Fallen talented in Breaking takes out their anger on something as flimsy as string and hollowed wood, there's no hope for repair. Not that he couldn't get a new lute, he played far worse than he sang anyways. No, Bard simply considered such an act an afront to musicians as a whole, such is the nature of a Chime. (Prologue, to be finished later. No need to post yet, still working out how I intend to run this.) Magic in the world of Lestrai is separated into 24 distinct types, each power held by one of the Fallen. The Fallen are an unexplained phenomenon, and their power is considered unholy, an attempt to copy the powers of the Lestrian God Marrestra. Prior to the unification of Lestrai some few hundred years ago, powerful Fallen were indeed worshipped as gods in many areas. Fallen are all identifiable by marks on their body, varying between individual and Fallen type but always distinct. Shifters can move objects in the environment to their will, with it being more difficult to move objects against their nature. For example, it would be easier to divert the flow of a stream than to stop it completely. Sliders can move their mass along a path using momentum. A thrown punch can turn into a full body dive, with their body moving as a liquid of sorts between positions. The person will inevitably have to return to their own shape, but the major difficulty with Sliding is controlling the flight path. Breakers can, essentially, destroy any inanimate object they touch. The power is dangerous in that it is sometimes difficult to direct, and it also cannot normally affect living things. Depending on the energy expended, objects can be damaged in different degrees. Binders have the ability to attach objects to one another without assistance. These bonds last as long as they are maintained by the Binder, and the strength of the bond is determined by the energy expended. Essentially magical duct tape. Angels can generate and control light, to degrees varying on their skill. They can create illumination, change the colours of an object, prevent light from entering an area, and powerful Angels can focus light to the point of being able to use it as a weapon. Shades can produce illusions of any sort. They can confer invisibility on a person or object, or simulate instances which aren't actually happening. This can sometimes backfire, as the Shade might be the only one to see his illusions or he might produce inaccurate images. Flutters and Fades I'm not sure about yet. Rimes control cold, and are able to radiate temperatures below freezing as well as creating pockets of cold at a distance. They are also almost completely immune to the effects of temperature, but there are plenty of instances where a Rime tried to handle too much too soon with catastrophic results. Raisers are necromancers, capable of controlling dead organic matter. Complete human bodies are easiest, though individual body parts are capable of being controlled and some Raisers specialize in plants. Control is difficult, however, requiring heavy concentration and careful commands. Chimes affect sound, capable of dulling, enhancing, or changing any noise. The better a Chime's hearing and perception of sounds, the stronger and higher quality their sonic manipulation. Chimes are extremely valuable for thieves, as they are able to dull noise in a field to muffle footsteps, produce distractions, and even stun or deafen guards. Blazers are the opposites of Rimes, they control heat. They too are immune to the affects of temperature, but a much greater potential danger to themselves. Blazers are better in combat, capable of incinerating or melting anything that gets in their way. Gods, Grims, Nods, and Rims are all Fallen of legendary power, each capable of influencing a different aspect of reality.
  7. Iconic. Please. Especially when it comes to medical issues, try not to start convincing the rest of the world they're all frauds. And did anyone actually see my post on my game...? Permission to repost? :P
  8. Regardless, why were they on an RP forum? I still think it was something to do with you. They popped up in the middle of an argument about you, if I remember, which your aliases always seem to.
  9. Holy Carp... ARCHI WAS NAMED ZAX? Erm, nevermind. Inside thing. Anyways, I'm thinking through a new game. Mostly RP... but there are boundaries and the mod will determine what happens. It's based around 24 magical abilities (a la Brandon Sanderson Misting...), considered evil by nature and causing those possessing them to be reviled by society and hunted down (...served with a side of Brent Weeks color wight). The characters will have to choose their path carefully... as I do not intend them to be the Heros here. Nor the victors. Though not all of the world Lestrai are bound by mortality, or reality, nothing is certain. This is an ancient chant and nursery rhyme, one of the few insights Lestrians have into the world of the Fallen (the general name for those with powers). Shifters. Sliders. Breakers. Binders. Angels. Shades. Flutters. Fades. Rimes. Raisers. Chimes. Blazers. Gods. Grims. Nods. Rims. These are the curses, these are the crimes, These are the our verses, these are our rhymes, To keep them at bay, to lie them to rest, As Marrestra commands, and may we be blessed.
  10. I want to make a game that can be funny or serious, doesn't rely too much on rolls, makes people think, and makes people feel epic. Anyone have suggestions? I think Fallen Star came close, but I hit a roadblock in the narrative and didn't have any NPCs. Reanimated was amateur, if sort of enjoyable, and Shades just fell over and died.
  11. We also have my games, which are a warp of the RP and/or Dungeoneering genre. Reanimated had a direct objective, multiple game types, and (theoretically) time limitations on the players. Shades of Monochrome had a dystopian element, Space-like interaction, and a (theoretically) complicated magic system. Fallen Star had strong storytelling, a group-encompassing view in the first person, and (theoretically) complicated and intricate alien environments. Tales of Rimerose and Underworld were stupid. Theoretically. Does anyone want any of those games back, or want me to keep trying?
  12. Thanks, Tripsis. I think we're in a bit of a bumpy spot here, my thought is that we should work a bit on good ideas for new games (Space is nice, but too many people might end up killing Archi).
  13. XP all the way!
  14. Oh... good one Mather! :D 'Cause... Nitrous Oxide is laughing gas... no-one laughed... Heh...
  15. Actually, mutiny is quite possible. I hijacked the AI, rerouted the teleporters, and escaped the ship in a stolen shuttle. By accident, of course.
  16. Earth, please don't say stuff like that. I think he honestly tries to get along, he just doesn't want to base himself around what we want. He's not innocent here, but we should stop getting angry so quickly. BTW, where's Rocco? Or any of the mods or admins?
  17. Bye Ico. :( What about the people you invited though?
  18. Well, good. Can we move on and have a mod remove the unnecessary posts then? This thread could use a little cleanup, what with the switch in playstyles.
  19. PMs would just have them yelling back and forth, though this has no place on a game thread it's best if we try to reach an understanding.
  20. I'm done, Earth. I think we should all take a break. Edel, you shouldn't provoke him or call him out because of his nature. Different mindsets, remember? You've had to deal with this too, try to understand.
  21. Edel, I'm sorry. I didn't think I'd hurt anyone with those jokes, and they made me chuckle a bit. Likely one or two other people as well. Archi certainly played along with the first few, and Earthsage is the sort to fall out of his chair laughing at most people's jokes. I didn't really think about clutter; no one had to read it. I walk in, and inquire about my mission. As I talk, I juggle my axes.
  22. True, true. Sad we had to kick him, but with the Nitrous Oxide poisoning... he was just too far gone.
  23. Can you jump that little rock? :D
  24. Earth... It's past 5:00 EST. And as for Puppeteers... Survival instinct overrides all compulsion. No suiciding, and mind control is an open channel so they'll know if you're going to kill them, and fight. The trained can counter, the magically talented are difficult and dangerous to your health, and the strong willed can resist. No 100% for anything, ever. 99% in ridiculous circumstances such as blowing your nose, but not mind control.
