    Today...

I recently got a new phone and know exactly what you're talking about. It's like: Iphone 4: 50 dollars Contract: 3 years, 200 minutes, free evenings and weekends, free texting, 1 gig of data a month for 45 bucks 15 dollar activation fee 12 dollar/month for caller ID I just said "haha, are you kidding? [bleep] no". Has never been a problem. If someone calls me 12 times and doesn't think to text me "hey dude I need to talk to you" then it's their fault. I also don't screen which friend I feel like talking to because I'm not an [wagon], so I've never run into any problems with not knowing who's calling me.
  2. Has anyone played competitively recently? I stopped for about 8 months or so (after Blaziken was banned but before Excadrill was) and just decided to read about the recent trends. Some I don't understand though: Tentacruel: What does it accomplish this metagame that it didn't before? Is it just a Scizor check that can work on stall teams? Lucario: Did Excadrill being unbanned ruin its usage that much? Doesn't take advantage of weather, can be easily hard countered depending on the set, and just seems underwhelming. Infernape: Just a replacement for Blaziken? Donphan: Why is this thing good all of a sudden? Jellicent: How is this thing still OU? So underwhelming. I don't get why you would ever pick this thing with a well built team. It tries to do too many things at once and just fails. Really hate this Pokemon and don't get why it's popular when something like Slowbro is better (can't spin block though. Is it that important this metagame with a few rapid spinners in OU?). Blissey and Chansey: Recent usage has them at 32nd overall and 46th overall respectively. Why has the premier special wall gone so far down in usage? Mamoswine: I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Mamoswine. But really? It's still OU? Hydreigon: #36 in usage. Do other dragons outclass it that much? Gastrodon: Kind of makes sense seeing how few grass types there are in OU, but really? I thought it would die down after hearing about Blaziken/Excadrill getting the boot. What does it still do? Alakazam: This one is the biggest mind boggle to me. It got nothing this gen and Scizor/Tyranitar are still in the top 4 of OU. How is this thing OU? What does it do that Latios can't? I just don't get how this thing is OU this gen when there are more, and better Psychic types now available in OU. I just don't understand it. Dugtrio: Same question... really? Mostly just want answered: how do these things fit in the current meta? Is it still a weather war and (for example) Donphan/Tentacruel fit nicely on sun teams? Or has the weather war died down to where something like Lucario can still be a big threat without Gliscor/Ghost types in the mix.
  3. Just a scapegoat, like the majority of fired coaches are. I don't expect RC to make any significant difference. Randy Carlyle is a much better coach than Ron Wilson IMO. If Randy can't get the job done then I think Burke is next.

Yeah, the rulings are a bit ridiculous sometimes. Going to use Monster Reborn vs Thunder King as an example of your situation though. For Thunder King to negate Monster Reborn, it has to negate the spell, not the special summon itself. Even though Thunder King says it can negate special summons, it's trying to negate something that already successfully resolved. Very confusing, but some logic IS there. Yeah, that one can be worked out, but when I use Laval Laggio to negate a spec summon of Gorz and he says I can't that's friggin frustrating. Especially after I decided to just go by his word so he'd shut up, I reborned his Blue eyes and killed it next turn regardless. Then he quit saying he didn't have time to exlpain the rules to a noob. I've been playing yugioh longer than some of the players have been alive rofl. Also LOL @Rob Yeah Gorz has a really obscure ruling that I never remember either. It has to be negated it has to have a speed spell of 3 (counter trap) and be able to negate effects, with the only commonly played card being Solemn Warning (Divine Wrath, Debunk, and War Chariot work too). Such a pain. But the card is a necessity with the current meta.

  6. I thought he was referring to the game itself, not going to and from the game.
  7. 3 hours for the actual game. Generally you want to leave ahead of time to get good parking/buy whatever you want, and leaving may take another half hour depending on where you park and how the arena is set up. If you've been to any other sporting event it's roughly the same.
  8. Offers highest ad that doesn't require you to stack for it also gives second highest critical chance, all for one item slot. Lulz at Zhao and Vayne for going over critical limit. Vayne also, had no lifesteal. Which is why if you're worried about dying in that scenario, you go something like 1 IE 1 BC/LW (BC is only good on Corki for E and Vayne IMO) 1-3 PD if you're worried about dying a lot 1-3 BT Multiple IE is just a waste of a useful passive that doesn't stack. I've seen worse builds, but it could be so much better.
  9. Why would you ever stack Infinity Edge......................... Oh god that Vayne could have completely destroyed you guys with a proper build.
  10. Jets win a game! Feels good man. Pavelec finally showed the goalie he's capable of being and the defense played a lot better.
  11. There's no way we're making the playoffs with a defense that either gives up a turnover or tries to lead the rush only to give up odd man rushes the other way. They'll be fine in a few years. A lot of people are saying that we'll go back to an empty arena after the 3 year season tickets are up, but that will just mean people like me can finally get tickets. Oh well. Future is looking up for the Jets.

Bike or swim instead. Walking/running/jogging hurts the knees. no bike and it's too cold to swim. Plus I have weak lungs so swimming is out of the question for exercise. I was planning to try out the weights but the area was choc full of about 10 high school kids +3 others. and I'd rather not waltz in, confused as [bleep] and look stupid. Not in front of a large group like that anyway. Maybe I'll sneak out @ 12am and go. We all started somewhere. People at the gym are usually more than willing to help you with form/routines/diets if you just ask.
  13. I was too until, during draft day, they said it makes sense since Dale Hawerchuk coached him in Juniors and really said good things about him. With the praise that Dale gave him I really hope he does have the talent and personality to succeed, whether with Barrie or Winnipeg this year.

If the law is pointless, I don't see why not. Whether or not the law is pointless should not be any excuse though. You're still allowing them to break a law which could allow to further, worse consequences in the future. I cannot break laws myself then not let my son break laws, that's called hypocrisy and worse off to me than what a fat white man has written down. Can't argue with that.. It's also much safer to do it at home than out somewhere else. His parents logic is probably "if he doesn't do it here he'll do it somewhere else anyway".
  15. What you CAN do is take either our advice or borrow a team posted here previously and use that for a while to understand how that particular team works/how others will respond to your team. You can learn about problematic Pokemon in the metagame or to your team and adjust accordingly until you feel comfortable with the metagame to the point where you can make a team that's unconventional yet effective. Rain stall (post Manaphy) is about the funnest type of unconventional team I've used in Gen 5. In Gen 4 I told myself not to use anything that was in the top 20 of usage and it was a blast. Lanturn was kicking ass and Sub Punch Dragonite was taking taking names, so I do know what you mean.
  16. A Poke can have a maximum of 510 EV's (hidden number) overall. A stat can have a max of 255 EV's. 4 EV's gives a stat a +1 at level 100, so doing math, the max EV's you should put in a Poke in any given stat is 252. A standard 252/252/4 with 2 leftover EV's usually suffices. For movesets: you want your Poke to have a purpose. Looking at Torterra, the first two attacks mean it should be a sweeper (fast and hard hitting), but the last 2 suggest it should stall (slow and can take hits). So a better moveset for Torterra would be: 252 attack, 252 speed, 4 HP with a Jolly nature and Wood Hammer, Earthquake, Stone Edge, and Rock Polish or 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 Sp Def with an Impish nature and Leech Seed, Stealth Rock, Roar, and another attacking move. Give each Poke a purpose and know what works well competitively. Hone Claws is worse than Dragon Dance, Hail is worse than the ability Snow Warning, Swallow is worse than just about any other move, Fly is worse than Roost, and I've honestly tried making Umbreon not suck and it just isn't possible in standard play. Hope that's somewhat helpful.
  17. For what it's worth, I still buy into it. I'm sorry if that amazes you, but I don't actually consider myself an ignorant person. I've played as many FPS games as anyone else. I think one of the key problems with video games in particular is that violence is often accompanied by a lack of moral context. I wouldn't want my kids to grow up thinking that violence is completely unacceptable, because sometimes war is an inevitability. However, I'd want them to realise that we are at war for a reason and that war in itself isn't necessarily an excuse to do whatever actions a soldier or a commander in real life might want to do to their enemy. Same goes in everyday life--violence is acceptable, but only in very certain conditions. The point is that parents should take more responsibility when it comes to deciding on how much is too much for their own child, since every child is different, and not rely on the state to intervene or lazily depend on regulatory bodies to provide all the information--which is easily available in the public domain--to make that judgement for them. I think the campaigns to have GTA4 etc. banned have been more to do with mothers wanting to lecture other people about how their methods are so much better than anyone else's. If it wasn't, they'd just ban the game from their own house and have done with it, but no, everyone must know how sanctimoniously they've beaten their child over the head with their own morality. For me it's in the same league as bragging in the school playground about how wonderfully talented their child is over everyone else's. Letting everyone know they feel GTA4 should be banned is just their way of self-validating the fact that they've taken a personal decision to do so, regardless of whether the facts stack up. I did a Psychology paper on this, and there is a correlation. Playing violent video games does not equal serial killer. On a milder level, playing violent video games does correlate to anti-social tendencies and people who play violent video games are more likely to fight, act harshly when angry, etc. It does not instantly cause little minions of doom. If someone is a violent individual, they will likely be acting out on their violent tendencies one way or another if violent video games are banned or not. Of course, correlation does not equal causation. I play violent video games because the multi-player is usually competitive and fun for me (CoD, Halo, Gears), and violent is very subjective, as a game like Zelda could be considered violent even though it probably helps ones puzzle solving ability. OT: Great and accurate ruling. It's the parents responsibility to protect their kids from video games if they don't want them playing it.

It's basically yugioh online. Access to every card, regular updates, and a decent community. I love it there. Dueling Network is better IMO. My friends with Macs can use it (browser based - no download), the cards are updated quicker, and the layout is easier to understand/follow. I also wasn't happy when I had to mess around with one router setting just to get KCVDS to allow me to host.
  19. He played for Columbus so I've never seen him play lol. An 8th overall draft pick is good though. I guess the trade depends on how well Voracek does though, as if he's good it might be a good trade for Philly, and if he's bad it's a good trade for the Blue Jackets (although either way I think the Jackets got a good deal, as a first line centre for them at that price is pretty good).
  20. A post I made on another forum: Philly has been busy today. Flyers traded top goal scorer Jeff Carter to the Blue Jackets for forward Jake Voracek and the club's first- and third-round picks. The Flyers dealt Richards to L.A. for forwards Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds, and a second-round pick in the 2012 draft. According to a report, the Flyers have signed Ilya Bryzgalov to a nine-year, $51 million deal Flames have also asked Regehr to wave his no trade clause to go to Buffalo. Also, the Winnipeg Roughriders (if I say it enough it will happen) have hired Claude Noel (Manitoba Moose Coach) to be their Coach. My opinion on all of these: the Carter trade seems bad for the Flyers and good for the Blue Jackets. The Richards trade seems good for both teams. The Bryzgalov signing is hilarious from a Winnipeg fan's perspective (will explain), and I'm not sure about trading Regehr. I don't like the Noel signing, but Manitoba has been good with Coaches in the past. Carter trade seems like they're relying on the draft pick, so maybe they have someone in mind they want for the future. Brayden Schenn is going to be a great player, so that's the reason I like that trade for the Flyers. The Kings are now going to have a legitimate first line, with the possibility of Richards, Kopitar, and Brown on the same line, so that should be fun to watch now that Quick actually has some offensive talent. Bryzgalov is not a character guy. He wanted to go to the KHL to be around Russians, he talks crap about Winnipeg after only being here once or twice. I'm glad he didn't come here and I'm glad he can go to Philly, where fans throw snowballs at Santa and are proud of it. Noel to me seems like a guy who settles for average, and I'm basing this from what I saw when he coached the Moose. Hope I'm wrong and he's a mastermind at producing young talent. And I heard the Flyers are going to go after Brad Richards as well. It has hit the fan.
  21. If you're having that much trouble you could always just say "good enough" and stick with that. Most people don't status Starmie anyway because they assume it has Natural Cure.
  22. Too true. To add on to your example of both sides, Canucks fans cry about missed penalties on them and how the refs hate them, while Boston fans cry about diving. It's absolutely ridiculous.
  23. I usually notice and don't care about it. Stuttering isn't a big deal, just don't worry about it. You are who you are.
  24. Chandeluir and Heatran should be able to switch in safely as well. Heatran and Chandelure both made OU. I haven't been playing UU for the same reason I didn't play 5th gen immediately: it's not balanced right now with stuff like Victini, Kyurem, and Chansey. Although I'm sure stuff like Slowbro, Kingdra, Houndoom and Suicune can all take Victini (does it get Fusion Bolt and use it actively?) and aren't complete dead weight if the opponent doesn't run Victini. Haven't done calcs though.
