I understand about bows, but they're an example of things that probably wouldn't noticed or cared about. But sometimes things from a later age may actually enhance gameplay to a point, I can't think of many that really make gameplay more fun but I can be sure that there is something like that. Wyvren, I agree with what you're saying and I'll probably go with that. It is not necessary to have specific items (not of the time) when other items (of the time) could potentially yield a similar outome and if it is necessary then precautions will be put into place to make it hard to reobtain. I don't really think I will have that many anachroistic items but if the need arises then good control of them will keep them from being too plentiful. For example a scientists workshop will be guarded safely (in my campaign, probably in a dungeon) and once the things are stolen they would be unobtainable again due to the scientist being executed.

In some cases you could argue the the items in question actually do fit into the genre, a longbow for example could potentially fit into a setting in the 900s without any questioning. However, would things that clearly wouldn't be available in the medieval ages liked diving tanks or automatic crossbows ruin the feel, or do you think that it would be okay?

How do we feel about anachronism? Especially in a medieval fantasy setting, to what point does it detract from the story? Do you like the feel or anachronism?

Yes, they're all just blank images. All of them are shrunk? For me it is only the last one.

Mather, your desktop makes me sick. I think that the best bet is formatting your computer, it will be quicker than an attempt at cleaning that up.

Minecraft General
It's images like this that make me want to get this game. >.< What are your plans for it that you have in mind? Or just working as you go? Thanks :) I have since created a topsoil layer of grass, I am currently removing ores that managed to slip through my topsoil filter, but after that I plan to add massive rainforest-esque trees, some ruined castles and other abandoned things such as dwarven strongholds, dungeons and abandoned mines for the player to explore and loot. I have partially thought out how they will look, I'm aiming for about ten substantial structures for the player to explore. Because of the nature of the map (massive open areas of darkness) there will be an increased number of mob spawns which will result in a very hard survival map which will be a lot more fun than vanilla minecraft. I can give the players a few objectives to do: for example 'complete all ten dungeons' 'produce a cobblestone factory' 'collect ten blocks of lapis lazuli' 'collect all ten hidden sponges' 'find the temple of the golden monkey' 'make a brick house'

It should really be around January according to his tweets. Heres a visual mock-up of what I want my villagers to do: I also hope he adds whips incase the prisoners walk to slowly, I've already begun the building of my multilayer prisons.

Hegemony, I love this. Dungeoneering/Space providing its not more of the same storyline (different genre please) Political intrigue. -- Basically minecraft is a very good platform for creativity and allows for very explorable buildings with very clear mechanics. I believe it has a lot of scope to act as a good platform for a dungeoneering game and because of map editing I can make some extremely expansive worlds. Potential classes: Mage - Enchanter Alchemist Summoner (access to summoning) Landchanger etc (access to land changing magic) Ranger- Stealth - Access to invisibilty plugn for periods of time Adventurer - Swordsman - Swords, etc. Adventurer - Comes with a bunch of useful survivalist items including a map. Pyro - All items are enchanted with fire_aspect or ignite! Rider - Can ride all mobs with a saddle. Tinker Engineer - Free items: Redstone allowance (inf), TNT allowance (10 per session, more can be purchased) Scaffolder - Infinite supply of blue wool, destroyed periodically but can be used to block, etc. Disguiser - can disguise as any player or mob. I can work out a levelling system, rage/mana system for players. Levelling won't be arbitary, minecraft has put that into account. I think that simply increasing the Mana will do which will mean you can do more powerful spells without being afflicted. I will tell the story through NPC interactions mainly but if a session is ended in a particular spot then I can work on a scenario happening and create a few illustrations for the start of the scenario but the main body will be through NPC interactions which is not disimilar to most D&D games. I can create out of game riddles to give access to places or give access to loot.
