Yeah, that's an excellent idea! Maybe if you get high enough hunter, you could use crafting to make a set of barbarian berserker armor! That should have to have a high def req, though...

i believe the ranged def is close to that. anyway, id like to see it. but its not going to happen soon. id prefer to see berserker armor introduced, if you read up on them, they go insane with rage and strength during battle and wear light armor like skins of animals(dragonhide) and in runescape it would be like... for example special daganoth hides when worn give str bonus and little defensive value Yeah, I'd love berserker as well. That would rock. And to Reb, I'm happy with wherever mods want to move it.

Well, I agree in theory. We don't need stronger armor, we need more tactical options available.

Before you read this post, understand where I'm coming from. I'm combat 101, all melee stats above 80, and I'm itching for some new armor. We got third age, which is 65+ def. We have barrows, currently the best in the game (read: guthans), we have infinity... We have excellent armor. I'm thinking that Jagex might try and take a new turn with this higher leveled quest coming out soon (read: possible DT sequel?). With desert treasure, they introduced the Ancient Magicks spell book, giving high level mages something they desperately needed to balance out the combat triangle. It may or may not have been too overpowering, I've read mixed opinion, and I won't comment. I've beaten that quest, used the spells a few times, and felt pretty bad about burning all those runes. What I'm thinking/hoping will come out with this new higher leveled quest is some brilliant new 70/80+ defense req. armor. My HOPES are that the armor will have a built in ability on the combat interface: Invulnerability. How this works, is that basically, while you're being attacked, you can select an option: melee, range, or magic The option you select would effectively give you a free protect prayer, which uses no prayer points... However, it only works against players, and gives 0 points to attack/defense bonuses. That's the drawback. I think that this might be hard to code in, but it will give high defense players something to work for, and re-balance pking to make it a little more strategy driven. The player you fight should be able to see what you're invulnerable against, just like the current protect prayers, and you would be able to protect prayer with the armor's effect in use, for a total of two protections. What are your thoughts on this? I was just giving an example, but feel free to suggest what you think the rewards of the new quest will be. I'm hoping for something great, like Monkey Madness gave us.

For me, I remember killing dwarves as being incredibly taxing as a low level. Now, I try to genocide them everytime I walk by! Muahahaha :twisted:

Well, think about this: Rune Plate: Sum of all defensive bonuses (including negatives): 308 Rune Chain: Sum of all defensive bonuses: 275 Ratio-Wise, the Plate is 12% better than the chain. So, along the same lines, here's what we should expect for a dragon platebody, if one over came out. Dragon Chain: Sum of all defensive bonuses: 351 Projected total for platebody: 393 That's nearly 100 points stronger than the rune plate, but pales in comparison to the torag plates sum of 475. So no, based on current statistics, the dragon plate would not unbalance the stats, and would still be weaker than barrows. Just a small comparison.

Gaia, you may or may not know about the whole infamous Spud and Buddybear santa incident. I'll let spud let out whatever he wants about it, but suffice it to say, he's already had a chance to excersise judgement about this sort of thing. And may I also add that his decision caused him to gain respect in my eyes, not lose it.

Nothing that we have done is calculus. This is actually a great example of statistics in action. We're trying to fit a regression model to a curve. And who was the person who was dual majoring? Floor and Ceiling functions are used all the time. At your level, I'm sure you're familiar with the formula for finding the trailing zeroes on the end of a factorial. Fun math Question: Find the amount of trailing zeroes on the number (2006!) When I get to school tomorrow, I'll plug all of our data into Mathematica, and have it come up with a closed form approixmation to 100 significant digits. I'll then post the generating function. It SHOULD be fairly accurate.

It was a great puzzle. Please continue to do these, albeit with smaller prizes. This was *great* fun for ~ 2 hours. If you want, I'll help you come up with a HUUUUGE puzzle.

I first thought BRAILLE when I saw the clue about amazing grace. I then translated with the help of a braille chart. However, my first translation was wrong, so I eventually got it correct. I had posted ALM ERA but I failed to make the connection to the waterfall quest. Oddfaery made that leap, and then everyone started guessing random facts about it. Until sjan made the final synapse leap and solved it. Congratulations.

Yeah, I used that and found out the braille thing, which lead to finding almera (oddfaery), which led to where we are now. What quests is Waterfall a prerequisite quest for? If we're in the wrong station, we might need to go further down the line. GOD THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME!
