Yeah, after a few years of knowing each other, 100s of PMs and talks on RS, she decided at last that I am the stalker kind. Uhuh. Take it easy, pal, I think it was a joke ^_^ Good luck finding her, I can't help you at all, however, sorry! Oh sorry, I forgot to laugh, ha ha ha. Thanks Bubsa. It's just that she suddenly stopped logging on RS and answering my PMs. She doesn't know many people on RS, so I don't really know who to ask about her whereabouts. Oh well.

I agree with that. I won't retain half of the stuff that I learned when I took Chemistry...but I had to take it. It was good for me to learn that and what I remember could one day benefit me. Knowledge is power...I want as much as I can get. That point of tests in my opinion? A grade. The point of grades? Telling potential employers how hard of a worker you are, or what you know. Anyone can say they know something, earning the grade gives you the diploma which is proof you know or can do something. That's why we need tests and grades. For instance, I could go to a college, sit in through classes and learn a lot without ever being enrolled in the school and therefore not having to take tests. I could go to enough classes to get my degree in a subject...but when its all said and done - I don't get any proof that I know what I do. Yeah, you're right about having proof. Although many times grades are given unfairly and I think it's unfair to give grades only based on how well you do on tests.

I dunno, but I think finding the lightswitch isn't a problem at all, since the lightswitch is always placed close to the door, either on the right or left side, and when you open the toilet door the light outside will illuminate the toilet.

Yeah, I agree. I hate hate hate exams, and teachers who give you a grade only based on how well you did on her/his exams are just dumb. Everyone can do well on an exam, it's basically just a question of if you're lazy and don't study, or if you study a lot. Quizzes that the teacher doesn't tell you about beforehand are ok though, because you prove what you really know. I have one teacher who doesn't believe in tests. He's awesome! Well...if you are lazy and don't study and therefore do bad on the test - isn't your grade still a result of how much you know? You didn't study and therefore don't know the material. Whereas, if you study a lot for a test, then its just like the quiz because you are being tested on what you know (or should know). :? Well, the thing is you usually forget basically everything you've studied. I mean the teacher teaches you something, and then he/she gives you a test on it. You go home and study for it, but you'll eventually forget most of it later. So basically you only know the details for a few weeks. At the end of the term, is it fair to get an A for that anyway? If you have tests or quizzes that the teacher doesn't tell you about, you can test your real knowledge, like see how much you know without revision. I'd have to disagree with that. I retain an awful lot of knowledge from studying for tests. The point of school afterall is to learn - if they only test you on what you know instead of pushing you to know more and then testing you, its not worth it. If you can't retain any knowledge you've learned after taking a test, you aren't studying properly. What you're saying is true, I guess. But there are many people who don't really understand the thing they're learning (in for instance Chemistry and Physics), and then when they study they just learn everything they don't understand by heart and repeat it on paper later on the test. Also, I feel that the things I know after learning something without studying stays in my head forever or for a very long time. While the other details and things I had to study to know gets forgotten much earlier.

Because she's a friend of mine on Runescape.

I have, and she hasn't answered, so that's why I thought I'd try here and ask some tipiters.

Just bumping it in case some people who know her have missed this topic.

I used to really dislike school, and I would want the holidays to last longer, they were never ever long enough for me. This fall however, I started in high school, and I really enjoy the time there, and for the first time in years, I actually didn't want school to end. I miss all the laughter :( The only thing I hate about school is the homework, projects, and tests we get :x

Make7upu101, you don't have to help it, shut the light :) Well, in my school the toilets are not crowded at all. There are some toilets that are basically never used because they are located in a place where almost nobody goes to. So if someone uses one of the toilets there and doesn't shut the light, the light might be on for like the next 10 hours, until the cleaner comes and shuts it, or until someone else uses the toilet and shuts it. Why is there no reason to save energy? no reason for me the save energy, i pay $10 into my familys 30 or 40 dollar a month electric bill, if i conserve ill still be paying 10. thats why i have had my computer on for about 70 of the past 72 hours, and leave my satelite/stereo/dvd on and just turn on the tv when i want to watch something. There's the environmental aspect as well as the monetary aspect :D Exactly :)

Well, in my school there are seperate toilets and a light in each one that you can shut and turn on. But I guess in most of yours you can't do that. I meant with the topic if you do that at school, but since most of you can't do that at school, do you guys do that at home? Why is there no reason to save energy?
-
In my school people never bother to shut the light after they are done in the toilet. So everytime I step into a toilet, the light is still on. It just kind of bothers me when people don't shut the light after they are done, because you wouldn't do that at home, why would you do that at school? So do you ever shut the light after you're done at school? If you don't, why don't you? Bad memory or is it laziness?

Ya, that's sooo true. There have been sooo many natural disasters the past year, it's scary how weak we actually are against nature. - The tsunami (actually occured 2004, but throughout 2005 people have died as well). More than 220 000 people died. - Hurricane Katrina left New Orleans totally flooded and more than 1000 lives were taken. Then hurricane Rita makes 3 million people leave there homes. - In Guatemala 2000 people were burried alive by a landslide. - In October tens and thousands of people die by an earthquake in Kashmir. And even now, 3 months after the earthquake people are still dying due to hunger and cold. And those are only a few out of many many disasters :?

Happy, happy, happy New Year everyone :D

Do you celebrate, or even care about new year's?
Zippi08 replied to Schwarzenegger's topic in Off-Topic
My family doesn't really celebrate New Year. Usually we just invite some people over to our house, eat a nice meal and go out and set off some fireworks. Fireworks are the best and prettiest :) -
Same here, I don't like 'kk'. When someone writes that to me, it just seems like they are annoyed at me even though they are not. It's like they're saying 'ok! ok!! Jesus Christ, chill!!' I don't like when people abbreviate words such as u, r, y etc., or when they speak in leet language, but I'm ok when people abbreviate longer phrases, such as brb, ttyl, irl, imo etc. When people say k it seems like they just want to stop talking to me :( Hehehe, I guess I know how to shut you up now :D

Do you play any intruments like piano or violin or anything? Cause you can record yourself playing some songs and make it into a CD. If many of your siblings play intruments, you guys can build an orchestra and record a CD. Or if you draw or paint, you can always draw/paint him something.

I was just wondering if anyone that knows the user Athena has seen her on lately on these forums or on Runescape. She used to be on these forums everyday, but ever since the end of March, I haven't heard anything from her or seen her on Runescape. So if any of you other tipiters who know her and have seen her on RS or Tipit lately, please tell me. Thanks :)

No, that would be...weird :/ I mean here in Sweden it gets so cold and dark when it's winter, and with the Christmas decorations and spirit it really brightens up your days. Chirstmas gives you something to look forward to and be happy about. Yeah, I agree it's stressy and everything when your parents are busy preparing everything, but still, I think it's worth it. And to answer the original question, I do get excited about Christmas, because we usually invite people over and the food and the presents.

Am I boring to not think that was funny?

And why is it wrong to have more compassion over a furry animal than a fellow human being? Let's say you have a good friend who has a dog that he/she really loves. If his/her dog died tomorrow, would you care? Yeah. If I died tomorrow, would you care? I doubt it. I'm not saying we should all care about furry creatures and forget people. But it's not like you have to show more compassion to one thing than another. There are so many different issues in the world that is wrong and that is needed to be taken care of, for instance animal cruelty, AIDs in Africa, skinning animals and starvation etc., the world should try to solve these at the same time, not oh I have to save my fellow human being, who cares about animals.
-
Yeah, it's horrible the way they do it. I can't believe how people can just cut an animal open and then tear off its skin. It is true that we value animals based on how they look. Like someone said that we don't care about killing insects, but to kill a dog is a horrible crime.
