  1. Mystic staffs going f2p would be an interesting move and certainly a nice token for f2pers even though they'd be sub-par to the lvl 50 stuff. But it'd be curious to see how they actually faired in terms of supply in f2p after all mystic staffs are made by taking battlestaffs to Thormac - something only p2p can do due to his location. Then there is the added layer that to get the battlestaff in the first place one must be p2p in order to charge the orbs. That being said though I don;t quite get why we jumped to mystic staffs, I thought we were all referring to the mystic wand and orb that go with the mystic robes set.
  2. Idk about that. There aren't any other basic t50 magic weapons that are f2p so unless they make new ones they have to keep batwing wand and orb at 50. Mystic armour wasn't f2p before they did this tweak, the weapons not matching the armours is most likely an oversight.
  3. Mammoths were first mentioned in a BTS in '04 and a model was created but they were never released. They have been suggested and mentioned all over the place in the intervening years.
  4. My biggest annoyance so far with this update: Rswiki is saying Archeron has been released and that the mammoths are in Archeron. But nothing in-game says this is Archeron and in the streams etc they specifically said this is an iceburg that broke off Arhceron and floated south.
  5. That still strongly suggests they knew a lot about you. No-one is going to to just hack a random email address then contact jagex on the off chance it is an Runescape account. This is the method of someone who knows the owner of this email address has a runescape account obtaining the final piece of information required to hack that account - the login name. With that information secured and access to the email it simply becomes a matter of recovering a lost password. And again there is no way they can bypass your bank pin and it can't be keylogged - this means the hacker knew enough about you to guess your bank pin.
  6. Honestly the fact that they got into your email to by pass authenticator and do recoveries and got past your bank pin suggests to me it is someone you know in some way shape or form. For one thing a simple keylogger can't get your bank pin - this means whoever hacked you entered the correct bank pin. Which either means they knew it outright or knew enough about you to narrow it down to some possiblities (ie dob, signifcant dates etc) Then for another, though entirely possible to marry up an email account to an rs account via keylogging it's not exactly a common route of hacking - firstly because it means keylogging a lot of stuff and then working through the data to find multiple accounts and secondly because if you are going to go after someones email there so much more to gain than a runescape account. Meaning more often than not again this would suggest its someone with some knowledge of you - enough knowledge to know precisely what email the account is on and know enough to recover a 'forgotten password' for that account
  7. Bank pins can't be keylogged. Also in this instance it sounds like the flaw in your security was the email address as gaining access to that is the only way to bypass/remove the authenticator other than literally stealing the physical device running the authenticator.
  8. The bit that annoys me most (from what they seem to be going for) is I could understand if it was like a tech limit on once you augment a weapon you can't revert it to its tradable form - but the whole 'tinker' that makes it augmented and gizmo that holds the perks being separate things ought to by pass the issue of not being able to remove perks at all. Sure you can't revert your augmented item with tinker to a tradeable form, but let us remove the gizmos and keep the base augmented it. Heck even make there be a 'price' to doing so - either you pay a chunk of divine energy and get xp only when you take the gizmo off or you get your gizmo/materials back but lose its level ups. That way you still keep the model of having different weps for different things and gaining xp via levelling up then breaking, but your not locking people into putting 1 gizmo on their weapon ever then thats it - you keep it that way or destroy it. But then whatever they do it will uberly suck if, as they have suggested, they are blindly marching down the line of needing to break down t90s for unique materials to get the best stuff - that is the perfect way to make the overly rich pvmers get even further ahead of us 'normal' folks in terms of money as the increased demand pushes prices up and expands their wealth all whilst they can afford to break down a few t90s to get the best of the best perks so their kills are faster, easier and better gp:hr whilst us normal folks who can barely scrap 1 t90 wep suddenly find ourselves with sub-par gear (which a load of top end boss groups will decide is not good enough to join their teams) and not a chance in hell of moving forward with them. And again there is quite a simply solution to make this a non-issue: Do not make any unique material exclusive to disassembling drop only items. By all means make such items give better materials more commonly and make them give a thematically appropriate hard to come by material fairly easily comparatively. But make it so there are other ways to get that material with enough grind or heck even make it so there is a way to get them without utterly destroying the item. Maybe for an energy cost we could 'extract' a weapon to get some materials, but it comes at the cost of degrading the weapon by like 25%, maybe give us ways of using divine energy to infuse lesser items to give them a chance at rarer materials, maybe give items a low chance of generating their unique material just through use. Of course in all this you'd keep disassembly as the best option, but any number of ideas that would make the materials obtainable other ways would stop them being a giant middle finger to everyone who isn't already rich rich rich.
  9. Combining weapons was in the draft, people didn't like it, they moved away from it. But in the most recent info from runefest etc they specifically mentioned some of the t90s in relation to giving unique/rare materials when broken down, at the very least we know Zaryte/Nex Armours are still in there for unique materials as you saw a 'Zaros Material' in the newest bts. Not to mention the most recent info says they have moved away from perks being removable to a model where onces its on the item thats it - you keep the item forever or disassemble it.
  10. I more meant that they have confirmed things like drygores, seismics etc to give unique/rare materials.
  11. Interesting that the disassembling is part of it, the runefest stuff implied levelling up would be the xp payer rather than taking stuff apart. I'm still a bit meh on some of the implementation they seem to be going for. Unique/rare materials linked to the very expensive gear annoys me, sure its designed to keep their value up but when half of us poor mugs can barely afford to get 1 set how exactly are we supposed to compete when now to get the top end we need to buy multiples to get the materials for the perks!?! Plus the whole augmenting thing seems to be getting more complex - we've gone from making a perk to add to a weapon to making a tinker to augment a weapon then making a weapon gizmo to create a perk inside to add to a weapon and unless I'm misremembering they've done away with the notion we can remove perks and break them down to get the materials back. Now it seems like you can't remove them and if the one you make sucks you lose the materials.
  12. Whilst they haven't said either way I'd definitely assume herb burner will be obtainable after halloween goes away - it falls into the same category as the likes of the warpriest sets, world event abilities and the ectoplasmator in that it provides tangible gameplay "benefits" and therefore cannot be a limited one time only thing.
  13. Personally I'd say Ripper Demons are one of the least grounded in terms of the game content so far, beaten out only by Camel Warriors. Wyverns - We have the skele ones perfectly sensible that they had a living counterpart. Mammoths - We've had a lot of talk about the mammoths of Archeron for quite a while in-game. We were fully expecting their arrival. Ripper Demons - Sure we have a quest and a couple of stories that touch of them but a big part of that lore is that they are a forgotten demon race that vanished ages ago. It doesn't really make sense for them to be chilling out in an old mine right beneath the Abbey that is the one modern source of knowledge on them. One of those secret tunnel making, sneaking out, wandering nuns would've noticed SOMETHING. I mean by all means they are a cool mob and deserved to arrive in-game, but them being on Gielinor (without some prerequisite to explain their return ie TWG or FOTG or something) is in itself a bit iffy with the lore, let alone right under the darn Abbey! Camel Warriors - these are the true outsiders though as nothing in-game to date gives any context or meaning to them.
  14. Teleblock uses both chaos and death runes, is a f2p spell and is a staple of pking.
  15. There is definitely a younger player base, but certainly a lot of the more established end-game players seem to be adults, there always has been a big adult playerbase for RS, but the ratio has shifted. Looking at these forums or my time in clans - way back when in the early 00s there was maybe 25% of people I interacted with that were like 30s, 40s or higher. The rest of us were all around school age. Now though I see maybe 20% school age, the 'us' from back in the day are all 20s and 30s and the adults from back then who still play are of course older too.
  16. This whole key thing seems a bit derpy from what I understand of it: 1) Raptor tasks are only around for November 2) Key parts are only dropped by the new elite mobs. 3) Key parts are only dropped on Raptor tasks. Ergo your chance to actually open the chest is locked behind not one but two walls on RNG. RNG wall one of actually getting the right task. RNG wall two of actually getting the drop whilst on that task. Unless they do the weighting right on the task assignment and drop rates it seems like it will be a bit bs Only 29 chances at Wyvern task 22 chances at week 2 mob 15 at week 3 mob 8 at week 4 mob Assuming you get on between midnight and update on Monday 30th that is.
  17. Staircase down in the room between the fire giants and the red dragons.
  18. I feel like comp being BIS made sense at launch, but a few updates since then should've marginalised it in terms of raw stats. Like the Kiln capes and Seawalker ought to be the BIS offensive and defensive capes. Also easiest fix ever for arrow picking up - show alerter to elf task people > add effect to elite quiver. Tada fixed, not like you haven't earned that right if you got that quiver and there's no other ammo slot item worth wearing over the quiver in any context. I think comp ought to be updated to always keep it in contention for the best cape, as in its a perfectly okay 'lazy' option, but it shouldn't hold the BIS crown for anything other than skilling type things.
  19. Honestly, I'm wondering if its not the grind but the daily cap that's the issue as well with those. All three events averaged out to about 30 minutes a day, but the Halloween event you can do that 7-8 hours all at once, so people may be looking at it as a worse grind than the other two. For me its nothing to do with the caps its to do with the sense of progress aka the grind. In the Falador event you can see your commendations racking up quite quickly and from 1 lot of cap can claim 25 rewards and unless your luck sucks in those 25 youll get a good number of the unique items. And all this with minimal input and some nice xp gains. In Halloween you click here click there click everywhere whilst gaining no xp for all this work and then you get a kinda meh payout of points that barely makes a dent in getting any sort of reward. Playing this event for the same time as Fally cap you'll can just about muster 1 reward vs having like 3 or 4 of the unique rewards plus a load of lamps plus some sellable stoof at fally. Fally doesnt feel like a grid because you don't have to click a lot but you get tangible benefits in the form of xp and quick pay off in rewards. Halloween feels grindy as heck as you have to constantly interact with it, don't gain xp for doing so and then can't get any sort of reward for your work for prolonged periods.
  20. I'm not a fan of this event - launched alone it would be like eh it's okay but up against Fally event its like wtf is this boring snorefest. Fally event has 3 independent activities that you can do at all times that offer a choice of 5 different xp types (taking combat as 1), plus it has a miniquest and the sword event. Plus 2 spawn every now and then occurrences. All with a good mixture of easy to obtain fun rewards. Halloween has 1 overall activity for you to do that you have to do both parts of for absolutely no experience other than the randomly spawning 'bonus souls' Plus it has 1 spawn every now and then event. Plus it has an super useful no pots or buckets ectofunctus for epic prayer training with a bank precisely nowhere rendering it good and useless. All for mediocre points pay outs to put towards overly expensive rewards which sadly aren't really all that amazing. I mean another cat? Oh yay I was just thinking how the 5 colours of normal cat, purple cat, hell cat and clockwork cat was not quite enough cat types... 2 Graves stones and a death anim? Sure they look cool and all but seriously how often do you actually see these things these days? Feels like a bit of an eh that a main reward is a cosmetic for something you rarely even see. Then the herb burner it seems to cater to a niche that no-one thought needed filling. I mean burning clean herbs for 10x their cleaning xp? What is the use in that? You'd either follow them through to end product for the bigger herb xp payout or sell them on as cleaning herbs and/or making unfs is a good profit maker. I mean yeesh how long I spent at halloween event today was probably similar to 1 - 1.5 days of Fally event and I cam away with enough points to buy 1 reward and didnt want to play anymore cause grindfest. At fally I felt okay with the time spent and had all the rewards in that time.

  22. Alas from the BTS video the burner looks more like a portable skilling station than a drop cleaner. ='[ Nope no Bank holiday. Only thing I can guess is purposefully avoiding clashing with the Sword promo thing so players aren't overwhelmed and finished event code can be removed asap. Just fyi the Uk Bank Holidays are:
  23. Yeah absolutely no tool in the entirety of the rs fanbase can live track how many more you need to kill etc as all calculations are done from the hiscores and the hiscores olny update when you log out. Really SwiftKit is kinda outdated as a concept - it harks from a time when computer and internet power meant that opening something else when running Runescape was quite often slow, painful and lag-causing. So it was essentially a lightweight browser loading lightweight content without you needing to run two programs. But in the age of better computers and wikis that niche isn't really a 'thing' anymore as for most players you can quite easily run RS, stream a movie, be on social media and still easily load and search the wiki without lagging yourself out.
  24. Just wait... they can update it next week to properly "balance" it. But it only runs for 5 days, they haven't got time!
  25. You know whats really weird: Back to the Future 2 is now a movie entirely about the past.
