  1. So you have to subscribe right away to claim the item, or else it's lost? How does that work anyway?
  2. I've never been more productive before. 73-80 smithing, 75-76 mining, 85-86 farming, 73-75 defence, 79-80 attack, 65-70 fletching. Of all those, mining was the most exhausting. I hate mining.
  3. Oh, come on, don't worry about it. This is far worse.
  4. Bad. Anything that increases the gap between casual and hardcore players is bad in my opinion. A "Loyalty Programme" fits this perfectly.
  5. I don't steal spots. I just fight for my own. Some [wagon] tried to steal my spot in the granite quarry (I had to powermine to reach level 76, hey) even though there are like loads of spots and one single hopping would have solved the problem. I decided to forsake efficiency and disrupted his efforts until he hopped. Serves him right. I only make an exception for spots where I don't really have a hope of finding an empty world at that point, or where competition is accepted anyway.
  6. And just what would you "show off"? Your dumb luck?
  7. This morning, on my second spin I noticed that as I pressed the button, the small crafting lamp's outline flashed for a split-second. And indeed, that's what I got! Has anyone else noticed something like this? It may be a coincidence/graphical glitch/something else, but if not, it seems like we have a minor discovery here.
  8. I would go for the 200M. Not because I want anything more than 99 in any skill, but because I don't just want to get the 99s. I only want the skill if I've worked it; it's also the reason why I'd never trade my account for any other. It's my own.
  9. With a tree run behind me I'm now smithing away happily. I love BXPW. :shades:
  10. Oh, really? How would you do it then? That's the point of the whole thread.
  11. The squeal of fortune does have problems, but not the ones you described. First off, the rune items... if you're lucky, you get two rune items a day. That's... 50k at most? That's a joke, I earn five times that every day even if I only do some minimal daily tasks. And most of the time, you're more likely to get cabbages or 50 coins. I don't understand your problem about the items being untradeable. It does contradict your first point, and thus makes the complaint void. The lamps don't seem too bad either. Huge lamps give something like 20k XP and they're much rarer than the medium and small ones, which give a few thousand. They are also bound to one certain skill most of the time. A drop in the bucket; again, you earn much more XP from normal activities. You are not forced to spin the wheel. You can just X it out as far as I know. Not that I've ever tried - I'll take the chance for the lifetime membership if freely given.
  12. Oh, right you are there. Well, in MY day, I had to get up a half hour before I went to bed, drink a cup of cold poison, walk three times across the entire map of Runescape, uphill each way, and pay MILLIONS in Runescape gold for the privilege, in my dad's pajamas, and when I got home, my mother would PK me, loot all my good stuff, bury me and dance on my grave! Everything alright with you? Well, if the early game doesn't give access to enjoyable content, maybe that's the problem Jagex should have fixed. Yeah, in the end, it all boils down to Jagex always taking the easy path - which is understandable, since they're a big business.
  13. I find this whole doctrine pretty funny, myself. A few years ago, the JMods proclaimed that nothing in the F2P world is supposed to be a lure for P2P - they've even removed all the objects and click options that are members-only from the free worlds. Now they've undone all that, and more.
  14. If you had just started playing the game and you never knew anything of what it used to be, you wouldn't think anything of it. I guarantee it. And that's who they're going for - new players, who aren't familiar with the game. Make the early days more enjoyable and you increase your chances for retaining them as long-term customers. I remember very well how the game used to be when I started. It was long before the addition of the Lumbridge home teleport, and there was very little aid to the newbies there. I had to discover a lot of stuff myself, and there were no NPCs to tell me how to play the game down to the smallest detail. I had to find a way to make money with level 1 skills (except for the 10 HP) and there were no tasks to give me 2000 gold pieces for something as simple as taking a free pickaxe from the general store. 2000 gold was a huge sum for me as a newbie, and after days spent with exploring, selling cooked sardines and self-smithed bronze equipment to the general store, I felt really pleased when I had managed to amass a wealth of several thousand gold pieces. It was one of the funnest experiences in RS for me (perhaps the funnest) and if I could have a Runescape mind wipe and play through that again, I would do so without hesitation. Now, I've played other games which have tutorials like what RS has now. Boring. Do you have any idea how dull it is to have a tutorial like that? The amount of exploration opportunities and not being given everything for free is not to be underestimated. You say they're making the early game more enjoyable - I think not. I think they're dumbing it down. Chances are, someone who has started playing quite recently will not look back on his newbie days with nostalgia a year later, because by the time he has left Lumbridge he has already gotten 50k. Jagex hasn't improved the early game; in fact, I would say they destroyed it entirely, by making you jump into the midgame grind almost straight away.
  15. Well, you know, that's how it actually works. There are around 10 prizes, of which 1 is usually superawesome and 2-3 more are rather awesome. The awesome ones have to be rarer, so if you land on a lucky item, the game will do another check with, let's say, 1% chance of you getting the prize.
  16. This lodestone update is a big barf. Why do Jagex have to make it even easier to do stuff? Seriously, if I'd started playing in this game, I'd have not played it twice with all the kindergarten level hand-holding that's going around.
  17. You can train any skill on BXP weekend, except that the gilded altar bonus allegedly doesn't stack with the BXP. You should train a hard, especially boring or expensive skill; neither Firemaking nor Agility is hard or expensive, and Firemaking is also quick. (Boredom is subjective, of course.)
  18. I don't like the dragonhide bodies myself - too hard to distinguish from certain other pieces of armor. Same goes for a few others possibly... other than that, no problems here.
  19. Are you sure this is a good idea?
  20. I tell them that I only add people who I've known for a long time. If they can't accept that, good riddance.
  21. Construction first, then if I still feel like bothering, RC.
  22. Thanks for the replies. By the way, am I the only one who is having performance issues? Back in the day, Runescape ran just perfectly. Now I'm getting severe lag even on lowered settings, even in relatively peaceful and uncrowded areas.
  23. Hey there! I'm a returning member who has last played a bit less than a year ago, and I have a few questions regarding new features. Firstly, about the money pouch. The way I understand it, anything that's in the money pouch can't be lost. So, is there actually any disadvantage in holding all my money in the pouch as opposed to the inventory itself, or the bank? Secondly, what critical new features have been introduced in the last year that I should know of? Thirdly, I see the abyssal whip has went down quite a bit. So, what are the new all-purpose training weapons? Thanks in advance.
