Wow... Nice belly... :?

Trouble Brewing's awesome. I love setting fire to the enemy team's water tap and stopping them from just spamming water for points, which is what 90% of players do rather than actually playing the game.
-
That sounds cool. With the game's spotlight changing its focus to lore and the gods I'm sure a lot of players will be looking to dig into the game's lore where they wouldn't have prior. That's the case for me, anyway.

well, may i ask if any of the 10k captains have speed as their highest BASE stat? 1. If speed is the highest base stat, fire him/her, it's the worst kind of captain. 2. Aim for the 1% or +100 trait voyages that boosts stats in his/her strongest stat (IE the 750 base stat). I dunno about the worst kind of captain... You should see some of the beauties I rolled before :P. Is the general consensus to boost their best stat as high as is possible then? I would've assumed it would be handy to have some all rounders at least.

This will probably sound stupid, but is there a single resource which details everything we know (and possibly everything that is assumed) so far? I'm kinda interested in the lore of the game but most quests I did years ago and I can't remember what happened in them. Even then, I didn't really pay that much attention to the story. When I did TWW I was constantly looking up the wikia articles on each person in the story to refresh my memory and it kind of ruined the quest to be honest. I'm reading all of this stuff about Ga'al and I have no idea what you're on about. In fairness, I haven't done the TzHaar quests. Are they worth doing at all?

After 3 10K captains who had a bad trait, I've finally managed to roll one with 2 good traits: Quick-Footed and Multi-Talented. What other two traits should I aim to get with this guy?

I do agree that it looks odd and would be more pleasing to the eye if there was some build up, but I'm not convinced it would make sense. I can't really remember what happens during the events of the quest(s) where you go under the fortress (is that WGS?), but perhaps you could argue that the guys underneath it (Dragonhai?) give off some sort of evil that would blacken and kill the nearby landscape. Seems a bit of a stretch to me, though.

Ah ok. I thought it hit based on your max LP, not current. Thanks.

I expect the black knights were a bit too busy with other things to try and make the scenery a nice gradient from picturesque greens to dark and menacing blacks. Perhaps they discovered asbestos and faulty pipework in the old fortress and had to take money out of their gardening budget to complete the building work? In all seriousness, I don't really see anything wrong with it. Sure it looks weird, but they're only black knights. I don't think a build up in scenery is really necessary, it's not like they have some evil aura about them that causes plant-life around them to wither and turn black. That's my opinion anyway!

I gave 'em a go. I didn't find accuracy too bad using Polypore Staff, but they're a bit of a pain in the rear. My poor laptop doesn't run anything too well these days, so I'm running on bare minimum pretty much which makes the tri icicle attack that does 30% or whatever of your max HP impossible to differentiate between the regular single icicle attacks. I didn't really enjoy it all that much, but I only killed about 10. I think I'll keep trying until I've fine tuned my setup and gotten the hang of it and see how I go from there. It would be nice if I could get into the groove to train my mage there and gather charms.

Very helpful :) Well it sounds like Glacors are a good start, so hopefully I'll get the chance to give them a go tonight! I realised after reading these replies that I have Ahrim's lying around in my bank, but I see that Ganodermic armour's T75 and not too expensive so I'll maybe upgrade to that. I don't know if I have the time of the patience to get a Chaotic Staff and I'll just settle for Armadyl Battlestaff once I collect enough shards for it. In the mean time, what's a good alternative to use? All I have currently is a Polypore staff which probably won't cut it there. Looking at a chart of mage weapons, I'm guessing SoL? Is it really worth me getting a RXB? I know it's not that expensive (although the individual parts are selling for double their GE value at the minute), but it does seem a little redundant. I meant to ask this in my original post actually, but what about an RXB is better than CXBs? Thanks!

Play time these days is somewhat limited and erratic so I usually just log on to do PoP and QBD. I'm getting a little bored of QBDing and was wondering what other monsters are worthwhile to kill. I wouldn't mind a bit of variation. My combat stats are: Attack: 99 Strength: 99 Defence: 99 Constitution: 99 Ranged: 99 Magic: 93 Prayer: 95 Summoning: 91 For melee gear, I have Torag's armour and CRapier/EEE; ranged is Karil's and dual Chaotic Crossbows. My best mage robes are... Batwing... With a Polypore Staff. As I can't play to a fairly stable schedule, I'm looking for something I can just fight by myself (plus in all honesty I've found over the years I just like playing solo). So KK is out because it's non solo and I don't really have the gear for it; Nex is out because I don't have the gear for it. What are Glacors like for money? I see the boots are quite valuable. And automatons? Are they a viable choice? Are some GWD bosses a decent choice if I hire a private room? I guess I'm trying to build up a cashpile as my gear is a little welfare at the minute. I currently have 40M; what gear should I be aiming to get? Bear in mind I'll just be using it for PvM like I am now. After the recent gear changes I invested in Armadyl but didn't find it made QBD any quicker at all really, so sold it and I'm sticking to Karil's. I guess I should aim for Pernix or something, but the price of the Nex-dropped armour is a little off putting and it'll take me quite a while to afford that. Also... Currently the QBD takes me about ~4:20 to kill (judging by the fact I usually get the 30 second prayer renewal notification around about the time I loot the coffer). Using Kari'ls and dual Chaotic Crossbows (Royal Bolts), is this a good time? Is there gear I could be using (that I can afford) to speed up my kills? I find her hit and miss at times - in quite a literal sense - sometimes I find her very difficult to get any hits on and she gives me real trouble, other times I tear through her. I guess there's a lot of luck involved in the fight. EDIT: For the record, I have Curses and Overloads. I'm also aiming to get 96 summoning for a Yak at some point soonish; not sure I fancy the extra effort for 99, though.

The site and the game are being extremely slow for me. Nearly died a few times at the QBD because of it. Any other sites seem fine, so I don't think my issues are solely my end.

Did GWD armour still have a prayer bonus before this update? If so, it's now been removed.

I logged in to the RS forums and noticed that I could see the alpha forum, so it turns out I can access the NIS alpha. I'm right in thinking that it's not open to everyone? I haven't received an invitation in my message center or e-mail (yes, I checked my spam folder)... Oh well. I had a little play around and it seems like a decent start. The bank screen doesn't seem to want to scale to fill the empty space on my screen. Any way to fix this?
-
I wouldn't say that's nit-picky; a decent interface should have those qualities. Interfaces are a bit of a mess in RuneScape; many don't fit in properly and have been quite clearly bodged together. Jagex should really use this opportunity to clean them all up and try and enforce a standard that's never deviated from without good reason. There's also parts of the game that don't have a proper interface but skirt around the issue by using the chatbox. Take modifying home teleport tablets: this action should really have a variant on the standard skill interface (the popup you get when you go to cook a shark, as an example). This obviously wasn't a priority, so instead we're forced to use the chatbox which feels very clunky when you factor in that each button press requires a response from the server. There are also various areas of the game where Jagex haven't accounted for any more than the minimum game size. I don't know if it's still the case, but I remember the killing Bork cutscene would just end up being a tiny square with a black border filling up the rest of the screen. Viewing one of your ships in PoP is similar I believe, although I don't think that one's constricted to the minimum viewing area of the game client, but there shouldn't really be a maximum in my opinion.

24-Apr-2013 - Charm Sprites: Catch Them If You Can!
Matey replied to Ambler's topic in General Discussion
So have they fixed the momentum bug in the combat academy yet? I'd really like to get rid of that interface stone... -
I kinda like that. A lot of vanity items used to be completely useless since you really couldn't see them. No one even notices my pea hat

Unfortunately I wasn't on last night! My private's set to on though, so if I'm around feel free to PM me (or have whoever's looking for one PM me). I added you (my rsn is Lrn 2 Dg) as I'm looking for a maul and also people to duo with. Feel free to PM me if you see me on and and want to dg. Cool, I'll add you and let you know if I'm looking to dung. My schedule's a little weird and I don't have loads of time to play most of the time, but feel free to ask! I appreciate the offers of help :).

When they showed the Polypore area, I was a little disappointed to see that only close monsters are drawn still. I'm sure there are technical reasons, but if the draw distance of the world is increased, why can't Jagex allow NPCs and players to be seen from a greater distance too? I'm guessing the only reason is to keep the amount of data sent from server to client low, perhaps? I believe the RS servers only send data about nearby entities such as other players and NPCs within a rather small square range around your player. They could at least make other entities fade in and out if they insist on keeping the range low, rather than 'popping' in and out like they currently do. Regardless of that fact, it's looking good.

If the things you are looking for are relatively high level(occoult+) it is worth trying solo meds as they have about 1/6 chance to give t11 stuff. However, for lower dungeons, t11 stuff is rather rare. Maybe you can get a few friends to help out in trying to get the desired binds? I don't have any friends who play anymore, unfortunately. Does doing meds increase the odds? I'd ideally like to look for a maul which is only obtainable on lower level floors.
-
On the topic of dungeoneering solo, I was wondering if anyone knew the odds on obtaining primal stuff by yourself. I tried to do a few floors of dung on the <100 world, but my binds are a litte out of date considering I haven't really played properly since 2011, and I ended up getting hassled by two separate party leaders. More than a little offputting, so I figured I'd at least get my binds up to scratch before continuing. I've tried running through some C6 smalls by myself (about 20), but each boss is a really low level. I've yet to encounter a high level boss, which'd make getting a primal anything pretty tricky. Would switching to mediums help, or is quantity of floors better than the 'quality'?
-
If people are so against grinding a minigame to trim the completionist cape, why is no one complaining about the 120 dungeoneering requirement to get the cape in the first place? (Joking!)
-
Why would it not be? What better alternative is there?
-
Cool, makes sense. Thanks :)
