  1. What an enjoyable article and I hope made people see what Runescape is really about. It's not about scoring points off others, it's about enjoying the game and the challenge of building up your character. I was begining to feel a bit disheartened with Runescape, but Zezima's interview has given me a renewed passion to keep working away at my character.
  2. I wouldn't have a holiday item, or a expensive bit of armour/weaponry. What I would have is the trolley you get to move the statues when you do the Garden of Tranquility quest. I remember when I was fetching the statues I had loads of people really confused going "OMG how did you do that"  I would want to be the only one to have the trolley permenantly though, just to confuse people even more lol.
  3. I had loads of beads at one point, but ended up getting rid of them because I was running out of bank space. Same with tinderboxes and knives
  4. I suppose in a way the "x thousandth" monster killed by whoever method makes sense and is one way to keep stuff rarer than if it was guarenteed that every player got a certain item after they killed so many monsters.
  5. Of course we are all forgetting that even if we can't afford it there is still an F2P option so even those who can't afford it can still play even though it does mean missing out of member only extras. With some online games it's a case of pay or don't play, there is no free option.
  6. I must have originally started playing around the early part of 2001, I remember it wasn't long before I left uni anyway and RS was a welcome distraction to essays and dissertations. I remember there being a part of RS sectioned off with a gate and loads of buildings behind it and when you clicked on the gate it said "Player houses - coming soon" I think it later became Falador though. I remember me and my friend becoming really excited and saving up our money so we'd have enough to get a house  . I remember when all banks were called "The Bank of Varrock". Didn't there also used to be a box for a carpentry skill on the stats page? Oh so many memories..... plus I vaguely remember something about you being able to have an option where you could attack and be attacked by other players, but you could only change it three times.
  7. 1. Prince Ali Rescue - it was good fun, plus it meant you could use the gates to Al Kharid for free lol. 2. Prayer without a doubt. 3. Cooking. That was always my highest skill when I was F2P 4. Cooking
  8. And you will still have change left over because it's ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã3.20 :D
  9. Arrgh the noob/newb argument makes my head spin. I was called a "noob" today whilst I was mining coal near the coal trucks. I couldn't believe it, I was just minding my own business :o . I just said "It takes one to know one" and changed servers
  10. I think it's cheap as chips!! :D If you think about computer games like The Sims where it's ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã20 per expansion pack and take into account there are usually around 3 expansions released per year if you buy all of them you've already spent nearly twice as much as what one years subscription of Runescape costs. Plus I like how they seem to have introduced various methods of paying like through SMS which means that kids who don't have a cashcard/credit card can pay for it themselves out of their allowance if they get it.
  11. I remember thinking "Hoorah no more crowded servers". The reason I became P2P was because I was sick of it being so crowded on F2P.... although now at times it seems there are more people on the P2P servers than the F2P ones. :? I remember being in Varrock and being amazed (and pleased) at how empty the town square was lol. I remember trying to get over the mountain to Catherby too lol. In the end it was some kind player who took me across safely, fighting the wolves as we went lol. The first members quest I did was the fishing competiton one. I remember also being really pleased at finally being able to do herblore and theiving.... I remember theiving in Ardougne from the cake stall, this was when it was still just RSC and everyone was trying to get the cakes at once and back then it was only 1 person could get the stuff instead of like it is now where if several people click at once they all get the item.
  12. 1. I'd drop the language filter.... or make it optional at least. There's nothing more annoying than saying something only to have it blanked out with stars when you haven't even sworn. 2. I'd also like to see something where you have to approve people to add you to their friends list. I don't like it when someone you've never spoken to before suddenly pm's you (when you are on completely different worlds so it's not like it's someone who you are stood next to or something.) It would just be nice to know who has you on their lists lol. I agree with the RSC one too. I tried to log back onto it a while ago and found I couldn't. I thought it was still open to members, but it seems not if you haven't logged back in within a certain time period. :(
  13. I actually spent quite a while yesterday on the F2P servers hanging around Lumby castle, turning into an egg and watching people trying to "pick me up" Even funnier was when me and someone else started saying "Help, help I'm stuck inside this egg"
  14. Have we ever had a Runescape pub crawl? I've only just really started visiting these forums regularly, despite being signed up for ages, so sorry if it's not an original idea. If it was done on a members world we could deposit food and drink in the party room in Seers village and having the dancing knights..... a right old knees-up
  15. I think they should open a traditional style fairground in one of the fields or something...... or maybe on the land near the cooking guild, just west of Juliet's house. There'd be games where you could win tokens which you could then trade in for items like parts of a bunny costume, easter eggs which raise XP in different skills (like the genie lamp). It would have to be one of the old fashioned style fairgrounds though or it wouldn't fit in with the game.
  16. Boo hoo, so I missed it then? I went to Draynor 8pm (BST) and no one was there.....
  17. Oooh, I didn't know about this either, I don't visit the cooking guild much.... in fact I don't visit any guild much.
  18. I think there are a lot of benefits to playing a game like Runescape. I know people of all ages play Runescape, but there is no getting away from the fact that a large percentage of the players are teens/kids. These days many parents are reluctant to give their kids freedom to go out and about, or in some areas even spend time in the back yard because of there being so many dangerous people etc about. Then there are the kids who live in rural areas and it isn't as easy for them to join youth clubs etc or see friends, so the game provides an opportunity for social interaction. With something like Runescape, you have the opportunity to explore lands from the safety of your computer, everything from the desert lands of Al Kharid to the snow capped Wolf Mountain. Then of course there are the quests which are great fun. Many can be done alone but some require the help of others, so you have all the social side of it as well as the thought and logic that needs to be used to solve quests.
  19. I'm 25. I started playing when I was at uni in the days of RSC. I found the site by accident and just loved it, as did a few of my friends..... In fact one of my friends old flatemates now works for Jagex, which we were majorly impressed with  I still remember me and my friend playing in a crowded computer room at uni (in the student village) and my friend yawping about vampires attacking the village and people looking at her very strangely
  20. How come you've decided to leave, if you don't mind me asking? It just seems a lot of people have decided to leave the game lately because they are fed up with the nastiness that can go on in the game. :(
  21. I hardly ever get random events. I think I've had the genie about twice overall. The mysterious man with the box is probably the one I've had most often... usually when nicking furs from the stall in Ardougne.
  22. I love going onto F2P when I'm bored and dropping stuff that might be junk to me, but useful to another player or just showing new players the way around. I think it's a shame some people get so nasty on Runescape, when it comes down to it it is just a game, the gp, armour, stats etc mean nothing in the real world. It's a shame some people can't just enjoy it for the fun it was meant to be. :(
  23. I'm not sure bear fur does have a use, other than selling it to the trader in Varrock Square.... would be nice if you could make clothing or something out of it. Right just off to Al Kharid now to examine a few camels.
  24. Well we've already had bunny ears, but how about a full bunny outfit? There could be some kind of task like the one last year giving eggs out but you earn tokens (like in castle wars) and you can trade them in in exchange for parts of the bunny costume (head, body, legs) Usually events last a couple of weeks so that would be loads of time to collect tickets. Or how about easter eggs containing various gifts ranging from skill experience to items of weapon and armour?
  25. The jail one is a good one. I didn't know about it until I read about it on here a long while ago. Another one I sometimes use is if I am over the other side of Runescape in Yanille or something, I make a short journey to Port Khazard and go on the trawler mini-game there and when the boat sinks you find yourself washed up near Thurgo's hut south of Port Sarim.... Okay so it probably would be quicker to teleport, but if you don't have enough runes or something then it's another method.
