  1. It’s something Ive been thinking about this last week and wanted to know other peoples thought on the matter. As many know a group of YT video makers and other key community figures were invited to Jagex last month, this visit was shortly followed by the announcement of the 3 new Jagex Mods. Last week a second group of 5 or so video makers visited Jagex, and then this week another 10 or so have been invited to stay a few days and visit the studio. This is a very sudden rapid change from the Jagex of old, who seldom invited anyone, and if they did it has only typically been 1 or 2 people at a time and not groups. On the surface it seems to me that this is simply a way of thanking those who out so much hard work into the community and spreading the joy of the game. I watch many of those who have been invited’s videos and I think they 100% deserve an awesome reward like an all-expenses paid visit. But my main question is what Jagex’es ulterior motive in this is? To me it has already had the clear effect of perhaps stopping some of those video makers being so critical or harsh on Jagex in videos. Those that previously referred to Squeal/Solomon with a selection of profanities seem to be either not discussing it at all now, or even discussing it in a more positive light. Assumedly a key reason for these visits is for Jagex to pick the brains of a group of people who arguably understand the community and the game better than Jagex themselves. Perhaps they are hoping that by physically introducing some of the big guns of the community to each other in person it will help make the community more tight knit. I think there is truly a lot to be gained by these visits and I feel Jagex has some sort of a big plan with this, I just cant put my finger on exactly what it is. So, yes, what are people’s views on this new sudden outreach to the video making community and what potential changes do you think could come because of it?
  2. Kind of makes September not particularly super therefore doesn't it, if half the reason for calling it that was having 2 awesome updates in it.
  3. I don't see the problem with dumping BOL lamps on it or why theyd want to stop it . It takes at least 2 hours to earn a huge lamp which gives a maximum of around 60k xp. Thats way lower an xp rate than actually training the skill in the first place.
  4. Interesting wording 'im not the one working on it'. She makes it sound like its a piece of content thats been delayed because its not quite finished yet. Surely its just a 5 minute job to make boosts and lamps work on the skill
  5. So we still don't seem to be able to use BXP on divination. Any updates or rumours on whether it should happen at some point during the day, or that its just going to be dragged out even longer?
  6. I think while it's easy with that graph to focus on the big drops around the EOC etc, to me the most notable thing is the difference between the start of the graph just after the first bot nuke, and now now. The difference is what 100-120k over an 18 month period. Thats not that horrific and is reasonably stable. I think all the crazy stuff in the middle shows how big an issue bots have been in the game. I guess the free trial memberships they were doing at that time also contributed to its fluctuation. Its the next 6 months of data that are the most important so we can see if RS3 can bring it back towards that Christmas 2011 value of 600-700k players.
  7. To be honest I'll be really disappointed if the Uber-Barrows boss thing is aimed at groups of 3-10, as theyve been saying for a while now that they want to do an extra tough solo boss, The last 2 major bosses needed big groups to play (I dont count the ascension dungeon bosses as theyre not a viable boss unless youre going for the complete ACBs and even then you risk loss), surely its time for another solo one Also barrows is such a historical, well loved SOLO piece of content that players still do all these years later, surely building on that would be the way forward as opposed to forcing group bossing onto us. QBD is such a hugely popular boss because its so accessable, with a good drop table for consistant drops of reasonable value, and that you can pick up and do for just 10 minutes if you feel like it. Organizing other players to do a boss with you just makes it much less playable to a large amount of the player base. Apologies for rambling, I just really want another solo boss and thought the barrows upgrade would have been ideal for it
  8. Complete stab in the dark here and I'm probably talking gibberish, but do you think its possible they made it have a lvl 98 requirement because they intended it more for to be used on Dungeoneering than other skills? Its a retarded way of doing it, and such a insignificant amount of xp for dungeoneering, but I wouldnt put it past them to do something daft like that.
  9. Ok well sinkholes was deffinitely a terrible idea for a super september challenge. I was in the waiting room for 15 minutes and it said '556 total players, 25+ read, 14 minutes left' a the whole time. Eventually after the 15 minutes it kicked everyone back to the surface and said challenge complete Well planned and thought out Jagex. Why didnt they think through the capacities of their minigames and servers first!. I do sinkholes everyday so this was just wasted xp for me I guess.
  10. Is clearing all 60 floors on hard mode and getting the title a requirement for comp or trimmed by the way?
  11. I dont see why we wouldnt be able to boost it, what would that make the minimum level required with a strong gatherers then, 76ish?
  12. I must say its the comment about the quest length that annoyed me most in that podcast. Mod Mark said 'quest length is the thing I disagree with the players the most on' , thats not really listening to the players then is it then as they keep bragging at the moment! As Yoko Karuma said, we dont want it for the sake of it being long, we want it because quests like WGS made you feel more immersed than perhaps anything else on RS ever has. I have never had a problem with Mod Mark before , but the flippant comment about it being just the same to make us kill monkeys for 4 hours makes me unbelievably annoyed at how much he doesnt get it.
  13. Thing is the pricing of the SGS as a whole is pretty arbitrary though, just look at the rediculous cost of things like the assassins pack compared to other items/membership
  14. The amount of loyalty points to buy even the cheapest of things on the SGS is rediculous and personally more of a slap in the face to be honest (and yes I knew how bad it was going to be from that BTS video). I think they should be at least half the price personally. Ah well never mind ill just forget the merge ever happened By the way do we really have to have a stupid golden chinchompa to give you free coins on the Squeal of fortune this weekend . I was far happier this summer where theres been pretty much no squeal updates and more of solomon. As far as im aware the community has far more of a problem with the squeal than with SGS, i dont get why theyve suddenly started really pushing it again this month.
  15. Can someone please explain to me the problem with the cape going up 500 and causing an issue with tears in inventory because I really dont understand, i just put my tears in the pool each day. Ive been enjoying using the BOL as a training method every day as fishing and agility are 2 of my last skills left to 99 in. I get around 40k an hour fishing xp an hour and getting the 2500 required for a huge lamp to spend on agility takes just over 2 hours. I leave it fishing afk while i write my dissertation and its a lovely free afk 63k agility xp a day that i have highly appreciated.. Sure 40k xp /hr fish and 25-30k xp/hr agility isnt the most efficient way but its so AFK its great for me. I cashed in a good 15k tokens this morning for 6 lamps. So yes, im very confused as to what the problem is.
  16. Hmmm, Runescape update in 30 minutes with no explanation of what it is in the recent updates page on the forum. I thought things had been postponed until next week. i wonder what it is?
  17. Does anyone remember when they first told us we were getting 2 new skills this year, because I swear it was before February?
  18. Any update on the XP rates at 70+ at all?
  19. I just noticed-We didnt get a bank space increase :(
  20. I agree, the graphics are near identical at each place. I cant see why this was so heavily delayed other than because RS3 was delayed. If you compare the amount of graphical work in this ,compared to with Runespan its minute
  21. Is it just me that thinks those blue things in the top banner look rather sperm like. But otherwise, hurry up this wait is killing me
  22. Its clear that the game deffinitely needs a new generation of players to come in, does anyone know how much promotion theyve been doing for the game in the last month or so out of interest? I know they had some magazine articles a few months ago, and the big media event at that castle. But I think it would have been foolish to advertise RS3 too much to new players on launchday (and the following few weeks) because there were so many bugs. My guess is that surely theyre waiting for the problems to be completly ironed out before really trying to get new people in. But I guess the fudge up with regards to HTML5 has also raised the question of when is RS3 going to be complete to the stage that they want to reshow it properly to the world that may have not seen the game for many years/ever before. Theres no point in spending mega money on marketing if it isnt finished properly yet.
  23. 'A bug where players could not complete a certain Sinkhole map due to mobs not spawning correctly in a certain room has been fixed' Finally, this one has caused me so much annoyance and wasted time!
  24. Hmmm, i thought before that divination was going to be coming towards the end of the month. But if its the first item in the BTS and Mod Mark is explaining it properly in this weeks BTS video, that seems to suggest it could be dropping next week?
  25. The whole lumbridge area was horrificly laggy, probably the double combination of lots of people and loading lots of new things made it extra worse. So i saw what there was to see (not alot). Though I did love the cutscene I must say! Then teled to the fremenik loadstone to let my lag settle down free from people and set up my interface. Theres still a few things im not sure how to change , but now Ive got it how I want within reason it im very happy and enjoying the looks of things being a bit more swanky :)
