  1. It starts in an hour...like it does every monday: /join #space32 tavern Logs: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12603519/Space/Logs/%23space32.Tip.It.log
  2. I foresee rampant sterotyping, followed by wikipedia links, followed by arguements about reality. And alternate reality has shown, time and again, to be regular reality with very small modifications because most everything involves copying what someone else did at some point in history. Also, maps of Earth are not really that good... Also, attracting scientists from the east is a generally bad idea because Dungeonal will launch a crusade, which no one else will join because they are trying to attract scientists by being nice. Dungonal will launch his full might against them, resulting in him either being kicked out of the game or him taking most of the scientists. Since kicking someone out of the game rarely EVER happens, he will likely take control of most of the scientists and the game will become a count down to Dungonal's victory. As for being an Arab Power...you are either saying you are giving some people a massive advantage at the beginning...or you are saying 'No matter how go you do, you are gonna get nerfed to hell.'
  3. I'd play for sure, tactical combat is my great love(despite being rubbish at it!)
  4. I am on now. I won't be on later, since I have space to run from 3 hours time.
  5. Non-Earth...PLEASE! It opens up a lot more possibilities and stops the annoying 'But this is what happened in reality.' arguements.
  6. Most people didn't have any relativies...Or have cut themselves off from them before they joined their respective countries' space programs. And yeah...Jeremiah's Family is probably the only ones avalible...though judging by the condition he finds himself in...he won't want to talk to them.
  7. Yeah, a pure combat skirmish/campaign would be pretty awesome. A game where you just turn up, do battle and then carry on with life. On YOH: Realistic Economics, or Unrealistic Economics. Would really do to get some actual ground rules on things.* Also, can we PLEASE do not Earth? For those of us who know what was going on back then it is highly disconcerting to have random stuff happen which makes no sense...Like Ireland randomly getting annexed by Britian and there being no fuss. Uber Tech...Air Blast Cannons, Plague Bombs and Giant Mirrors o' Death, aside...I think that it should be allowed....Though takes a long time and generates discontent. The actual power of the weapons needs to be defined as well...Cannonball firing Ironclads should have a good advantage over Bow Wielding Triemes...And Castles manned with archers shouldn't be able to sink said Ironclads. Dice need to be removed from gameplay somewhat too. If I stick my army of 400 Archers, surrounded by 3,000 Spearmen, on a steephill, of incline 30 in 1, and roll a 5, I don't want to have a band of 500 Calvery to charge up with a 20, slice through the spear wall and lay waste to my army. Similarly, there was a lot of silliness last time, with plans that were totally feasible...Spies who were meant to do their job, but didn't because they might die, despite sentence about how they would probably die, but it didn't matter...Opium deprivated mad men being rounded up by local Militas...Cannons that blew up ships invisibly, which the population went 'Oh, how interesting' and went about with their daily lives. So...what I am saying is that rather than get 'Ok, I will do that', it would be nice to get a little feedback as to what might actually happen so we can plan our actions a little better. *Trade Tables would be good here. If we picked a dozen or so resources, with two or three 'Trade Centers' per country...Then each resource had a specific price at a specific Trade Center. Prices would randomly fluctuate up or down by a few points, and player actions could artifically inflate or deflate the price.
  8. Which is why I said 'Put your hand up, say if you want to be President or not, then I will pick to Presidents, and then you can pick your teams playground style.' And yeah, it seems pretty unlikely to occur, since we have no Dusty, Retech, Ross, Spork, Sere... The whole point was to create a Hegemony like game, with a focus on playing as an individual, rather than the entire empire that spontanous celebrates your awesomeness. Shame, I really like the concept...Once it had been proved to work we could've launched all kinds of offshoots. *Retech, not as far as I can recollect...
  9. Awww. Spork, to get bones you need to get rabbits or chickens, the best place to find them is East of Falador in that big purple/pink area. String is Spindly Taproots or Stinging Nettles (String itself doesn't exist...cleverly). You need a few levels in exploration to find them...and then you won't be able to not see them. On the food front, chickens and rabbits are best in the early game, but when you start finding taproots and stinging nettles you will probably start finding blueberry bushes, which you can eat. Earth, I am still growing the crops up.
  10. Nah, we only did Carol Ann Duffy, Shamus Heaney and some other one...I have the book upstairs somewhere. Load of terribly poems.
  11. Nah, Heaney is like 'I like Ireland, I hate Britian. Oh, now North and South Ireland are fighting. Er.......FLEE!' Shakespeare is just high fluted.
  12. That's when you know you have made it as a poety...When School Children hate you. Shakespeare is a case in point.
  13. And most children say they will never grow up... Someone saying something means nothing.
  14. Hence why you damage a semi-vital area...such as the leg, so they can't walk, but aren't seriously wounded.
  15. I wouldn't want to beat someone who has probably been beaten their whole lives and is living on the dregs others throw away...
  16. Electrodes in his/her wallet and on his fingertips...whenever they get any money out they get zapped. Actually that would probably apply better as a defence in the first place, so everyone who doesn't have authorisation gets zapped.
  17. I think we are entering the realms where someone could say 'I get down on my knees and pray to God and he smites them down for me.'
  18. I am betting Mather carries around lumps of Uranium encased in Lead for the sole purpose of making his wallet heavy.
  19. Throwing an wallet overarm from 5 meters is gonna get you shot in the arm. Throwing a wallet underarm from 5 meters isn't gonna hit someone in the face very hard.
  20. Relatively large starting groups was the plan. Recruitment is only really there to replace, rather than build newer, even more massive armies.
  21. I am remined of John Cleese's commentary on Monty Python and the Holy Grail, where he is reminded of a story about two Roman Wrestlers who were locked in combat for hours. Eventually one of them, his legs and arms broken, finally gave up, and the attendants had to come over to untangle them, and when they tapped the winner on the shoulder to tell him he had won, it turned out he was dead. Which the person in Cleese's recollection had said was proof that if you could win if you never gave up. Personally, I take it to mean if you never give up, you die.
  22. Hmmmm. Me=Criminal Mather=Mather Me: Give me your money Mather draws is sword Me, shoots mather in the ankle: Give me your money
  23. Regard;ess: Check [hide] [/hide] Or do we want: [hide][/hide] I like the idea of small scale more... Its mainly so I have time to deal with other commitments, Aka Space. So I would prefer a 3 day system...not vital though. Good idea. Team selection...People put their hands up, with a note if they want to be President, I pick two Presidents, they pick their sides. Presidents can switch up their teams once they are playing. The game is a committee game, not pure hegemony, and is set on a week to week basis... Thus: There will be three population counters for a country; Recruitables, General Population, Dissenters. These will go up and down based on people's actions. Vast discussions about Economics and such will be replaced with the mod saying 'If you do X there is a Y% chance of this and a Z% chance of this.' And will be done per turn. Taxes will be collected monthly(every 4 turns). Battles may or may not be over in one turn, with sieges and what not maybe tying up months of time. Planes and armies take 1 turn to build, ships take two months(8 turns) to build. Research will develop rapidly, but will cost money to upgrade/build. Superweapons are allowed, but there is no super-anthrax to destroy them all.
  24. I was thinking, before I went to pick up my sister, Rocco sounds a lot like Mather. They may have a gun, but I am a Norwegian with a sword ALL SHALL COWER. Made me giggle. Anyway, Rocco, I 100% agree with you. America should have guns because guns protect Americans from the guns that other Americans ALREADY have. Outlawing them would lead to a lot more deaths in the short term, and probably the long term too, since the next government would bring in extremist stuff to bring back Guns. Wouldn't it by nice if there were not guns? Probably. Wouldn't it be nice if I found gold burried under my house? Probably...doesn't make it any more likely to happen.
