  1. Can you give me a system name? PM if you want to keep it secret. Can colonise a wider range of planets without the need to resort to building expensive biodomes? Say 60 degrees Kelvin on each side?(120 total out of 1,000, as opposed to the normal 60 out of 1,000) Orkz can travel in FTL, however their ships can't. Grim, will pm you the checks on the Ad/Dis list. Within the sector the gate is built in. Building chains between sectors doesn't work, another few hundred years would be needed for that) Also (sorry rocco) will require a superconductor to build, either naturally occuring or researched. Meaning what? Check, though are not ZPM powered so are weaker. Other Mather techs seem fine. Check Check Check, though will need to get back to you on prices. Science makes things go faster unless I locate a flaw in your reasoning, in which case you will spend a few years going nowhere...same as battles, you are more successful if you provide brilliant tactics, if you provide rubbish ones then you do worse. Words on weapons/armies/battles: [hide] Orbital bombardment is fine, though the more you use it, the more you will incite more militas to fight you...Blowing up all the houses is thus a very good strategy and leaves other stuff intact. Armies consist of up to 2,000 troops per development you are attacking. Landing more than 2,000, in a development, will kill however many over 2,000 you deploy, you have been warned. Defencive armies consist of up to 2,000 per development (Must have a garrison in the development, 1 pixal per 100 troops. Garrisons larger than 20 pixals do nothing) and some percent of the number of houses in a development, plus fortifications, if any. Mechs, tanks, aircraft, navies and such come under the 2,000 limit... 1 Mech=1 Tank=1 Aircraft=1 Solider=1 Ship. Battles consist of street fighting if the development is a city, farmland if it is fields, magma fields if it is a volcano...bring weapons that fit the bill. If battles last longer than one round (3 months) then you can deploy reinforcements from orbital ships, if not then you must reinvade from scratch. Defenders can recruit additional soliders as long as they have resources, houses and a garrison. 10 troops per house. [/hide] Winning is either the end of resistance, a deal with the development or a deal with the leader. If you didn't read that then you may struggle with battles. Space Battles: Calculated. Sending tactics is pointless. PS. A year is three months long for this game.
  2. Hehe, I just have this vision of Retech and Rocco standing next to some noble, on the border to Prussia, with Retech saying 'You are free to go. Just carry this keg into Prussia, they have some strange ways over there so you will need this to get in.' The Noble, scared witless, nods and waddles down the road with the keg on their back. A few minutes later Retech snaps his fingers and curses as the noble throws open the keg to reveal a sack of cash and legs it into Prussia. Rocco just puts his head in his hands and says 'Next time we don't let the noble bring their own gunpowder.'
  3. Can you expand and explain that? You can leave anything you don't want to deal with to your advisors, or you can take control of everything. Develoments are like cities...Workers, Jobs(Factories, Labs, Powerstations), recreational stuff. They should also be fortifed as anyone who lands on your planet will fight here. Occationally your advisors will randomly bulldoze stuff to build monuments that the citizens want...These have no real effect but will annoy citizens if you then demolish/block their construction. Natural disasters will occasionally occur as well. Circlon sounds fine, needs a tech list Will happen as you develop new techs and such....and usually your scientists will be working with materials that you actually have access to.
  4. Can do. Resources aren't required for anything in particular(They are just different materials) so it just reduces the number of trade deals you can have. Also reduces the number of different bonuses. Plus more exploration to find more resources. Ps. will correct Aquarius
  5. I have no problem with it. Only condition is that it is developed over a realistic time scale, the ancients didn't bury pyramids on your planet(probably) and you accept when I say that it doesn't work, you stop.
  6. Isn't Sweden(Scandinavian country) controlled by Ross? Thanks Dusty.
  7. Ok, I have most of the stuff done, I am just building the website and organising stuff, so tommorow or the day after. I say this because the game is gonna take a while to set up, so getting your Race, Planet and Tech list done will help me speed things up. For techs....Assume you have 50 years worth of research to spend on 10 subjects(or 500 years on one subject, or whatever combination you prefer). Also assume you have basic hyperdrive, lasers(or other weapon tech for free), spaceships, satalites, fusion power and life support system. You can improve these techs, obviously.
  8. I had thought that, but couldn't work out how I was gonna do anything else without getting stabbed, or learning the bazzilion different languages being spoken at the time*... Pictures seem like a good idea, but I couldn't work out how to be ironic with pictures(Without using words) And unlike your revolutionaries, my people getting stabbed won't strengthen my cause all that much. My soliders getting mob killed, tortured and all that jazz probably will though. * Probably not all that important, but if you wanted to roleplay it then you could
  9. They don't...You don't have to be the best at something to engage in it...all you have to do is try.
  10. At least I know what my night reading is gonna be on.
  11. This is a test, ignore me: [hide] Failed... Don't feel bad, the thing I was testing failed as well <_< [/hide]
  12. I have no idea who they are...so yeah, absolutely, as long as you write a summery =)
  13. I don't mind too much, just saying they an invunerable to stuff creates the old: 'I use a planetary sized gauss cannon to destroy your nanite army' 'My race is invunerable to projectile weapons' Anyway, make sure you pick a planet.
  14. I paraphrased. Cathy supports the French Revolution, the French Revolution supports the removal of the Monarchy. Therefore Cathy supports the removal of the Monarchy....What you actually support is immaterial, since the French people do not have wikipedia or twitter, so, short of travelling to Revolutionary France or blanketing the area with leaflets, there is no way for you to counter those arguments... [Hello, how are you?]
  15. Apart from that, it seems fine.
  16. Prussian revolutionaries who, when I went to talk to them, decided to attempt to kill me. Anti-Monarchists, prefer violence and are generally unstable...Which is, according to Dusty, the norm the period (Since Dusty said that 'Reasonable'(Talking is reasonable, apparently) people are few and far between.) Seems to be a massive difference in knowladge in this game...Its like playing blindmans buff at the cliff edge. Slightly correction...The US is fighting over the 13th ammendment...and Alaska and Hawaii are controlled by Slave Owners, apart from that, correct. Anyway, France wasn't suppose to agree to the peace treaty...and as a concept it is more damaging than helpful....Here is a peace treaty with BOTH sides getting something, and it is rejected....Meaning that a peace treaty in the future is pretty unlikely...Which means neither side is gonna get hung up with people going 'We should talk about this' because we have talked about it... So unless Dusty is using a die (Which would explain the massive differences in knowladge...and would mean that nothing we do has any effect...) to work out the big important decisions, things should develop along a straight forward path, in France...In Prussia I am probably gonna be facing a peasent revolt or something. Hegemony sucks at politics....people can't tell the difference between Propaganda and Fact...
  17. Hardly, I find it greatly stimulates the mind to do these things, trying to look at stuff from all angles, trying to cover all bases. That said about to go to bed. Like we both say, Dusty decides...but to me, Austria invaded France(the country)....Prussia has done nothing...bar argue (And most of that has been about talking to resolve differences and not killing innocents) and getting attacked by revolutionaries....(Which you say are not part of your revolution) so hate is perhaps overzealous....
  18. Yeah we all have 20/20 hindsight. It is all immaterial anyway, ultimately Dusty decides what happens.
  19. Prussia spends 150,000 ducuts printing parodies of the French Revolutionary leaflets, and distributing them into Revolutionary France using friendly contacts to mix them with actual revolutionary leaflets. We will try to make the leaflets local specific...So it addresses issues that are actually of importance to these people and make sure that the leaflets get right up their nose(in terms of annoy them, not literally) We will be drawing mainly on four facts(That I know about...since there is stacks I don't know I leave that to the printers and the local contacts to fill in): The Russian QUEEN supports abolishing the Monarchy... The Austrian KING defeated the French Royal Army... The Prussians are unwilling to fight if there is a peaceful solution... Women need to give up their innocence. Implying that: Only the Divine Power of the Monarchy can defeat the Monarchy France is unable to fight a war while they are divided. Words are weak! Women must submit to man's will to grow the population. Stuff along the lines of: 'The Queen of Russia, her honourable majesty, has given us her support! With her divine power we shall fight Louis' Divine power! Just as King Josef defeated our Glorious Royal Army! 'So it is now my friends! Now is the time to strike! We have all seen that France is weak now! If we destroy the remnance of the Royal Army then literary ANYONE could waltz into Versailles and seize power! 'And for those who believe the Prussians, believe that we must talk! In the future there will be no 'talking'! If you want something your neighbour has, then you kill him! You don't ask for trade! We must KILL EVERYONE! 'How will we kill all these people? We shall breed our armies! For women have the greatest duty of all, they must submit to man every ten months! From cradle to grave it is womankind's duty to bear the armies of tommrow!' Addition: 500 Line troops are sent marching through the revolutionary zone of France, carrying with them leaflets (these are actively supporting peace and goodwill and such and are not designed to be French Revolutionary) which they distribute where possible. They are instructed not to be heroes and try to take on the revolutionary masses, however they are to be honourable in conduct. Elsewhere Prussia's Russian Nobles offer a 1 million ducat rebate on taxes, in exchange for an increased bread quota for the year(assuming feudalism). Else they buy 1 million ducats worth of bread(Probably far too much, so reduce as neccessary). (Grain is used if the bread will be stale/moldy by the time it arrives) Excess grain is brought from America as well (Dusty, you will need you to work how much I owe Dungeonal) and is either used to suppliment the reduced bread levels in Prussia or added to the bread caravan to France...Or arrives seperately since there is the chance someone will try to intercept my ships...To counteract this the ships are sent in groups, rather than all at once...If they are intercepted then I will probably go via Austria and through Switzerland, paying tolls as neccessary) James Watt(Logistics Wizard) is put in command of this operation. The bread/grain is then loaded onto ships(Combination of French, Prussian and Commercial ships hired from neutral countries, probably mainly from the Netherlands, Sweden and Britian) and transported to northern France, accompanied by a couple of benevolant Russian Nobles(If none can be found then Prussian Nobles...if still none can be found then I use magic Bourgeoisie...if they don't exist yet then I get some guildsmen and pay them a good wage). When they arrive they will use the Dutch Windmills to power mill stones, which will be gifted to France, along with the Bread/Grain. If the French don't want the windmills/millstones and such...Then I just send flour/bread. Also I offer an open invitation to Imperial French Officers to spend time at the Academy of Prussia, they are obviously not taught all of our secrets but they are helped along the path to reasonable fighting skill...since currently they seem to be just a step above rabble. Prussia buys 1,000 Grenadiers(1.5 million) and begins extensive Quicklime Grenade Training. Probably won't make any difference, but since I can't use any of the brillant plans I have come up with in the last six seconds, so I might as well use what I am allowed to use... Further I deploy Prussian Red Cross Medics to France to try to help out with the recovering Imperial Army. If there is time/once completed the Red Cross redeploy to French Villages and use all the medical skill they possess to help the villages with whatever aliement it is possible to help with. Additionally, Prussian jails, being strangely empty, are offered to France to send their Bastile Prisoners, since Prussia is not at war with Austria(France possibly still is, so better not to have them broken into and freed by the Austrians), and our commitment should show we are unlikely to release these political miscreants. Further 4,000 Line Infantry are permenantly deployed(400,000(Possibly more)) to protect Paris, particularly the Bastile, since that is where the gunpowder is stored (Commonsense to stay near the gunpowder...though no more than 1,500 are kept within the blast range at any one time to prevent helpful accidents and such) The Bastile is also outfitted with Quicklime Grenades in the corridors. Since corridors are unlikely to suffer from wind...although draughts are possible...they should be safer to use Prussian Cannon Works are put at the disposal of Imperial France(Not sharing tech, but they can get cannons cheaply for however long this deal lasts) Furthermore General Molotov(Defensive Doctrine) heads to Imperial France to help train the militas and soliders in Defensive Fighting. General Mannerheim(Displine) is dispatched to help organise the militas in effective fighting forces as well. Mannerheim also makes some time to help the French troops rebuild their shattered morale... Translators are sent, if they are required, since French is the dominate language of Diplomacy it should be fine for my Generals, but the medics, army group and guildsmen probably will need them. In return for all of this Charity we expect a fair supply of wine, cheese, garlic and other such stuff, which will hopefully goes someway to pacifying the Prussian peoples for all of this helping other people stuff. Because taking it off them for no cost generates resentment and such, they are paid at cost or just above. Also the three deck ship technology...Since France should be significantly indebted to me by this point, if not then I will quibble over a price. Additionally, brain drain from France to Prussia.

  21. If one expected the sides to accept the treaty then that would be true. Anywho, as I have said, my interest is not defeating you, but making sure that the game doesn't get wrecked when a super power emerges...since Hegemony cannot EVER be relied upon to rally against the greater enemy...
  22. As Dusty would say 'Sometimes things occur out of time and I will not be swayed by these isolated examples.' I was making a general statement because 1850 is when they became sufficently common place...and these are worker's houses...not metropolitan centers. Plus I didn't feel like researching something that Retech would ignore and Dusty would have to research himself anyway.... Oh...and 1786 is in the future as well.
  23. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model_village First ones were built in 1850 something...So Rocco will derp you for this. Also, and this is purely observationally... Russia doesn't have any bourgeosie...the 10% of budget being wasted through inefficency every year kinda indicates(to me anyway) that Russia hasn't recovered yet.
  24. Yay! I assume that carries over to deployment. Elsewhere: [hide] [/hide]
