  1. I have no more than double that. And only about 5 of them ever message me (nobody calls).
  2. There were a couple of movies on TV last night so I watched them (I hadn't seen either one start to finish, still haven't). Robocop- I can't say much, as I didn't see much, but it wasn't as bad as I remember. Good Morning Vietnam- This one made me laugh a lot.

Your job sounds like a movie. I wish it was like that every day. It would make wearing head-to-ankle (I have black steel-toed shoes) white bearable.

Today, I went to work to see that, once again, my name was omitted from the daily schedule. But today was different. I had a relief person. Unfortunately, they found work for me. I went from straightening the top cookies on oreo sandwiches (lasted about 20-30 minutes) to filling a vat with chocolate (lasted 3 hours and contained 2 breaks of 30 minutes each) back to the first line again, but training to put the cookies into the machine as well. I think I would have been straightening cookies all day if not the the guy who was supposed to be watching the chocolate vat, though. He overflowed the vat, and there was a violent eruption of chocolate, and then took off never to be seen again. The chocolate flew AT LEAST 15 feet across the room and hit the outside of the next line over, got on the papers on the operator's desk and drenched boxes of sticks that were minding their own business nearby. Luckily, they had it almost cleaned up before I was sent over
  5. If you said it that way, the looks would be justified. There are ways you could say it that would get no such reaction and just the answer, at least where I live. And I am more apt to answer you in public chat, even though my private chat is usually ON now.
  6. Saw Iron Man 2 last night. I found it better than the first, but still not great. Although it was pretty funny at times.
  7. What I was talking about was the comparison between RS and real life. I was saying that if you didn't want to be part of society, then your house is where you can go be alone. But if you want to do things in public, you have the responsibility of acknowledging the existence of others. I think that setting private to friends all the time is like ignoring people on the streets IRL. Its the virtual equivilant of someone approaching you and asking for directions, and then you just ignore what theyre saying and keep on walking. Except that there is another option on RS- public chat. Setting that to friends/off would be like ignoring people on the streets. Private chat really is more like a phone, in that it is (generally speaking; not always with phones but in most cases) a 1-on-1 conversation with nobody really listening in, unless they want to hear only one side of it.
  8. Do I like my: City? No, too many people. I grew up in a town of 1600 or so, now live in a city of close to 400 000. I would much rather move back to my old town and commute to work every day. Country? Yeah. I've never really thought about where I would live if not here or where I grew up, but I'm not sure I would like living out of Canada. Maybe in parts of Europe? As for where I WOULD live, probably still Canada but out West somewhere.
  9. I can honestly say my phone does not own me. I do take it most places, though. Some places, such as work, I take it for 2 reasons. Hockey/Baseball scores and in case I need a ride home (as sometimes my mom stays late). Other places, it is just in case something bad were to happen, they could contact me. I should probably mention that I went for my first 19 years+ without one.

^Or try at least. I spent the night doing a job that involved dumping stuff every 25-30 minutes and restarting a pump every 10 minutes (because it kept faulting). Still... beats watching boxes.

Today I got to work and found out (after I swiped in, of course) that I was supposed to start half an hour later (I still got to leave at my usual time since I started at my usual time). I was doing relief (in other words, giving people breaks). 2 of the 5 people were doing what I did Monday and the first part of Tuesday... "Box watcher". Tomorrow: hour long meeting followed by more jobs that nobody else wants, no doubt.
  12. Actually, 9 times out of 10, if OUR phone rings it is a telemarketer or Rogers trying (yet again) to get us to bundle our phone in with our internet/cable for small discounts. As for my cell phone, very few people know the number and it has only rang once (a random wrong number from Alberta; I'm in Ontario).

I've been getting all the fun jobs this week. Monday I had to make sure there were the proper number of sandwiches in the box, and yell if the machine stopped. Tuesday, I did the same thing on another line for the first hour and a half. After that I had to re-lid any tubs that weren't properly lidded. Today I'll probably have to mop the parking lot or something.

So you won't have to tell anymore? Yeah, there's something wrong in their heads. I'm utterly confused now about work. I get there today and check the weekly schedule, which still says I'm on midnights. That's fine, the HR person said to come in for afternoons. Then I check the daily schedule and I'm not on it... anywhere. So they give me the kind of job they give only to a person they don't need, and I get stuck watching boxes all day to make sure 5 Skinny Cow sandwiches go in to them. In other words, about 7 hours of that. And after I punch out for the day I get the midnights supervisor/lead hand/whatever he is coming up to me to tell me who to go with. I told him I was switched back by the HR person so he goes and calls her to make sure. Communication skills at my workplace kinda suck.

Today I will find out if I am switched back to afternoons for the WEEK, or just the DAY. I am kind of hoping for the week, but this place isn't exactly organized very well. I am also curious as to what I'll be doing.
  16. Eagle Eye- It wasn't bad, although could probably have been better. The Blind Side- I don't like many football movies, but this one was good. Aliens in the Attic- Another one I liked, though I'm not completely sure why. Tooth Fairy- Despite the bad reviews, I liked it. I was never a big fan of The Rock, but he stars in some funny (in a stupid way) movies now. Then I watched the 3rd period of Detroit's last game in the 2010 NHL playoffs and the second half of the Toronto Rock (Lacrosse)division championship game. Then we threw in one more movie for fun. Sahara- Probably the one I liked least, although it wasn't terrible.

Glad that was sorted out. As am I. I wouldn't mind doing it, but it really is just too much driving back and forth. I spent the first half of Mother's Day at my grandmother's house. It was spent mostly watching baseball (after Rocky & Bullwinkle was over, of course), which I don't mind doing. After that I came home, gave my mom here gift and then ate nachos. Now I'm on the computer and probably going to go watch what's left of the Vancouver/Chicago hockey game.

My mom got me out of (at least) Monday's midnight shift. She went into the office and the first words out of her mouth were "Are you going to give my son a ride to and from work all week?" The guy had no idea what she was talking about, since he didn't make the schedule, but he went to the head of the HR department who told the afternoon shift supervisor to tell my mom to tell me to come in for an afternoon shift on Monday. So I don't have to do midnight cleanup, even though I could have (as long as we didn't leave the city when we move next).
  19. I call BS - what are they going to borrow, your rune scimitar? Actually, in my case it would be longsword, but yeah. And any rares you may have, anything they see that they want and don't have, regardless of whether it is possible or not.
  20. You have the benefit of being both low leveled and F2P. If you are a 138 in members' worlds, you would notice the difference. In F2P, not every other PM is "i barrow ur gs pls". At 110+ in F2P people want to borrow everything I own, if not have it. But since I stopped playing so much I haven't had the requests at all.

That does sound pretty awesome. The closest I've been to was a bunch of amateurs singing country/bluegrass/whatever. I only went because my uncle was in it, though.

There is a good chance that I will be on midnights next week, despite the fact my mom won't be. We told both former labor schedulers that we need the same shift (due to the fact we ride together mixed with the fact that I don't drive, and we have only ONE (1) car, even if I did) and they neglected to mention it while overseeing the new guy. My mom is going to try to get me back to afternoons tomorrow, since she is the one it has the greatest effect on.

Anything I eat from the freezer in the lunchroom (while I'm at work only, can't take it home) is free. There is also a store nearby specifically selling Nestlé/affiliated products to employees of the factory I work at for ridiculously reduced rates. Most items are C$1.00 these days.

I got to work expecting to have something to do until 8-8:30, only to find out we had to shut down at 7. Why, you ask? They had several people staying late from days and they had to leave by 7:30, or they can't start on time tomorrow, and we had to clean up our line before we took over for them. Also, at about 5:30 we had to shut down for some repairs, and they took about 50 minutes. So from about 7:30 until 10 I dumped boxes of crushed oreos into a hopper and then cleaned up that line and came home. Maybe tomorrow will go as planned? EDIT: I did get a BIT of good news today, though. The line I've been on 3 of the last 4 weeks (the one I hate second, maybe third most of all) isn't supposed to run for at least a month after Friday.

I got to work thinking I would have something to do until 6. Then I am told we only have enough sundae cups for 5:30. No big deal, really. And then at about 4:30, we run out of "ice cream" to fill the cups with. So after a cleanup of the line (which we milked a bit to get to 5:30) I got to wash pails for almost the rest of the night. Yep, me and one other guy got to rinse off about 200 large pails using 2 hoses and a sink full of soapy water. Also, we had to do a quick cleanup of a chocolate spill using only slightly damp mops and floor squeegies/dustpans. Did I mention I work until 10:45?
