  1. I don't know why people adore them so much. They are really only good for defenseless pures. I get much more xp at rock crabs. Once you hit 90 join Affliction (link in the pc guide in my sig) for some crazy-sick xp. I average about 120k total combat xp and hour.
  2. Most quest requirements that force you to DO something with your skill are potable. Most quest requirements that do not force you to do/make something specific with your skill usually aren't. This one requires you to smith a specific thing so it is potable.
  3. RAHK

    large pouch

They all drop them. The pouches aren't common but the more types that you have (in your inventory OR banked) the better your chances are of getting the type that you want. This is because when a pouch drop is headed your way you can only receive the types that you do not already have. Rumor has it that the ROW HURTS your chances of getting pouches. The idea is that since pouches are valued at less than 1gp the ROW makes them much rarer since it's effect is to increase the amount of rare drops. I used a ROW and had no problems getting all of my pouches in one trip. It is just luck, sorry to say.
  4. Does 1@ mean impossible to sell, extremely difficult, or just not a cake walk? Does 1# mean a loss, breaking even, or only a meager profit? Clear that up for me and I have to say that is a VERY good tidbit of information. Could you give reasons for those selling/profiting differences as well if you know them?
  5. I would assume that with that level of range it would be rather easy with a safespot. I just don't get why you would want to do dragon slayer with a 1 def pure: Reward: * 18,650 Strength and 18,650 Defence xp. * Ability to wear Rune platemail and dragonhide body armour.
  6. Bone bag is worth it, great prayer bonus and looks like a dead bunny in santa's back back! :uhh: Do you mean the bonesack? If so, it gives 0 prayer bonus. Thats the one that you can choose instead of the ramskull (or have both like me :P ).
  7. Because of the way that runescape/java is programmed the gp goes byebye. Trust me. If you don't believe me feel free to test it out yourself.
  8. Cooking guantlets do not prevent burning most food. Here is a quote from the kb: Are there any items that prevent you from burning food so often? Yes, after completing the Family Crest quest you will get the option to obtain a pair of Cooking Gauntlets as part of the quest reward. Whilst wearing these gauntlets you will burn less lobsters, swordfish and sharks. They won't help with monks, tuna, etc. Fish trout/salmon in shilo. Buy 50 feathers each time you bank. Get at least 76 fishing before you quit. Cook them (trout first) in the rogue's den. Keep them for healing at your bank or light training (at 111 combat I use 6-8 trout per load of blue dragon hides/bones). This is what I did until my current fishing/cooking levels (nearly anyway).
  9. ~400 kills with two obby shield drops. There are no official drop rates from jagex so just get lucky. :
  10. Like I have said before getting spinners is good and not leeching. Like I have said before the other things you are saying that you do on high leveled worlds IS leeching. They do not help the portals fall so they leech from the speed of the round (since a portal/spinner killer could have taken that spot). Understand now?
  11. Zammy book = Best offense and therefore the best book. Most expensive. Sara book = Best defense and therefore useful against magic using opponents (lots of slayer monsters). Middle price range. Guthix book = Half of each and therefore the worst for specific tasks but the most flexible. Cheapest. If you can only afford the guthix book then get it. If you can afford the Zammy book, get that. Only get the sara book if you have already bought the zammy book.
  12. Actually, he knows the VALUE of the monks. The price is what is wrong not their value. They deliver more hp in the same manner but cost less. Regardless of what PRICE people pay for them, their VALUE is still higher than what is currently being paid. To the author: You are 100% right. Here are the reasons that they aren't priced "correctly". 1. They are great xp. People will continue to fish and cook them regardless of whether the price is 10gp ea or 10k ea. The xp and healing value to the fisher/cooker is just too great to ignore. 2. They are new. Large groups of people disdain change. I would say that 60% of all runescapers have no clue what they even heal. Even if they knew they wouldn't want to "change". :ohnoes: 3. They are "hard" to obtain. This fits with 2. Since few people out of the entire rs population can fish monks themselves they remain ignorant to the glory that is monk. If EVERYBODY had access to them then people would have a better chance of seeing their true value. Then again, with access there would be more fishers/cookers and therefore more supply. I still think that the demand would rise above it onc familiar, though. 4. They are "easily" obtained. While this seems to conflict with 3 it actually compliments it and aligns with 1. Because of their fast catching there are a lot more caught than the demand can consume. If they gave more xp and were slower to catch (but the same average xp per hour total) then this would lower the supply greatly which would match the demand better. 5. Swordfish are over-priced. They are one of the hardest food to fish since they bring in tuna as well. You can't catch as many swordfish an hour as lobs/monks regardless of levels or tactics due to this fact. That, combined with the fact that they are the best food on f2p, greatly inflates their price comparitivly. Using lobs vs. sharks would be a more accurate depiction but your point still stands (just not quite as extremely so). Another great thing about monks is that they weigh much less than sharks. This helps barrowing, agility, and many other long travel times while packing food around. I, sadly, don't see monks rising above 350-400 ea (max) anytime soon due to the above reasons.
  13. You can get unid toadflax and snaps from ONLY random event-esque things. Tree spirits, the pinball random, etc. The reason they added this into the game is because of the farming update earlier. When you first farmed herbs they were picked in unid form. Apparently this made people mad that they could grow something that they couldn't id and therefore sell easily. After they changed it to picking IDed herbs people still had unid snaps and toadflax. These became technically rare or discontinued items (like the iron sickle was temporarily). When they realized their "mistake" they introduced other ways for those herbs to enter the game in unid form.
  14. No no no. Let me rephrase that. On high-leveled pc worlds those actions are leaching. On ANY other world, you are doing EXACTLY what you should be doing! Sorry for the confusion. The reason I said leach was because this guide refers to high-leveled worlds and groups. According to Dictionary.com leeching: One that preys on or clings to another So using that, it isn't leeching. If I was leaching, I would walk in, get 50 pts and then walk to the boat and wait. There is a difference. I have seen the higher levels do pest control, I've even stumbled on a couple of them while I was buying runes there so I join them. I have found that they sometimes do need to have people protect the knight. And this was a 90+ guild (at least it looked that way). This applies ONLY to organized, high-level groups/worlds: Anything other than killing portals and catching spinners is leeching. Period. The only time high-leveled worlds need people killing shifters is when it has become infested with noobs who attack monsters. Period. When people are doing their job (aka not leeching) the round is over LONG before the void knight becomes endangered. He starts with 250 life and gets 60 healed per portal defeated. That is a max lifespan of 430 hp. Even if every monster spawned was hitting him simultaneaously he would be fine in the 40-80 seconds it takes per round. With 90+ groups ANYTHING other than killing portals, catching spinners, and, only when your portal is down, getting your 50 damage before proceeding to the next portal is leeching. Those are the only things that help the round and are therefore the ONLY things useful with those groups. As long as you are active and not targeting splatters nearly every action is beneficial on non-90+ worlds. Dbaxe lowers your attack and spends your spec bar. Both of these things lower your damage output in fast rounds. BUT, like I said before, the longer the round, the more beneficial the dbaxe spec is. The problem is that long rounds are not a part of 90+ groups' tactics or common occurances.
  15. Yes and with the same number of pages.
  16. Monkfish. Same speed if not faster. They do not sell for what they are worth but you can easily sell for more than lobs. Not to mention that they will get you closer to sharks faster.
  17. Updated. Feel free to mention any corrections or updates of your own.
  18. I sure hope that you are telling other people to join not me, lol. I have tried it. I find that the chance of splashing 3 specs is more common than splashing 4. It doesn't seem to out damage the DDS for me. Another bonus is that it usually poisons the portal which helps a bit. One of the biggest detractors for me is that it forces you to requip your shield slot which usually takes the time of an additional hit. I did 50 loads of each and found that my dds specced rounds were an average of 43 damage higher than d hally rounds. With that being said, if it works for you, USE IT! I don't care if you can hit better with a wet noodle as long as you are taking out portals, lol.
  19. For fun - Do all of the mini-games (castlewars, etc.), visit all the places, and do all of the things that you can on p2p but will miss on f2p. For xp - Pest control. Buy a d scimmy and resell it before you leave. For cash - Merch runes from the mage guild. That is like 600k an hour easily which is WAY faster than sharks.
  20. You can't do many of the most fun things in the game such as dk, kq, etc. It makes things such as getting a fire cape harder. It makes slayer harder to train without guthans, mage (slightly) harder to train without ahrims, etc. There are many things possible with that account but not everything. I wasn't meaning that everything else was impossible but it makes many things needlessly harder and some things near impossible.
  21. Yes, exactly the same smithing xp plus the mage xp for casting it.
  22. It disappaers? are you sure? Search for r2 pleasant petition. There are already players that have a bank worth well over 2bil. While most players will never have a problem with this a select few have to deal nearly exclusively in items for big trades now. Blues are nearing 500mil btw.
  23. Main - You get to enjoy every aspect of the game. Pker - You get to enjoy one aspect of the game. With mains you can pk but with pkers you are limited to some extent in what aspects of the game you get to enjoy. I would go with main.
  24. I have 3 f2p tips in the guide in my sig. Air running, cow hides, and rune merchanting are mentioned briefly.
  25. Hey, thanks. You follow the link from one of my posts on p2p or help and advice? Just wondering. :
