I love Heroes.
[hide]As far as we know the regenerators can be killed with a bullet to the head. At least that's what Adam and Mrs. Petrelli think. Claire was dead for a while with a stick in her brain. Cutting off Adam's head would do the same thing I think, or cut it into lots of little pieces. This differs slightly from regenerators in comic books. That may be how they used to be, but now they are much stronger. Hulk has been almost completely vaporized before, but regenerated from one or two cells. Deadpool was blown to a million pieces in a an explosion before, and he regenerated. During the Cable & Deadpool run Cable blew Deadpools apart a few times by shooting it, knowing he would be fine in just a few hours.[/hide]

I love Heroes.
[hide] [/hide] [hide]Thinking back on the Peter vs. Hiro, you are right their friendship/acquaintance probably stopped them from going too crazy, and they did use their abilities pretty well. I think Angela still is. As far as I can remember I don't think her and Bob ever disagreed with anything. I don't know if she is as involved as Bob is though. I don't see why Hiro didn't kill him. Can really think of it two ways, Hiro is nice and doesn't like killing, or Hiro is a sadistic bastard and wants the man who killed his father to suffer for eternity. Some rumors are going around now that the actor who played Adam signed on for another season, that will be interesting if he does come back. Yep, Elle>Niki. Never did care for multiple personalities in comic book type characters (exception is Moon Knight, who is awesome).[/hide]

I love Heroes.
[hide]Heroes Finale: Disappointing or not? Hiro vs Peter: Lame like I thought it would be, but not nearly as stupid as I thought it would be. They both actually used their abilities. The two who die: Kind of knew that Niki would die, as soon as the guy started pouring gas around. Nathan's death wasn't as obvious, until he starts talking on camera. After that it was obvious. It's also obvious who killed him, I mean Noah always wears suits like that. Hiro vs. Adam: Awesome. I can't recall a situation in the comics I read where a person who can regenerate is asphyxiated. If they died, I think their body would regenerate enough to keep the status quo until something changed. So if he did die and 1,000 years later someone opens it up, he would come back to life. The alternative might be worse, he might be alive but would be constantly choking to death. Eventually that would drive him insane. The thing there is he might be able to get out by himself eventually, whereas if he died he would be relying on chance. Elle: Becoming a more three-dimensional character, which is nice.[/hide]

"Tin Man" is awesome.
Sunday December 9th they are having a marathon, starting at 5:00 EST. If you have 6 hours to spare then that would be a good time to watch :D .

What movie(s) did you last see?
Evening - I was indifferent towards it. I guess it was an OK movie, I just wasn't interested in it. I was having trouble keeping focused when Claire Danes wasn't on the screen :D .

"Tin Man" is awesome.
Playing part one again tonight at 7:00, right before part two. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0910812/tvschedule

"Tin Man" is awesome.
I thought it was pretty good. I love Zooey Deschanel, so that would be enough right there. The story line is interesting, there is a lot that is similar to Wizard of Oz, but nothing is exactly like it. Everything is a little different. It's like they are trying to avoid copyright infringement or something.

Official TIF Holiday Thread!
I guess so, last time I made a topic with a poll in it was on scapeboard and we could just choose it in the creation part. Not sure how it works on here. It's up to you though, you don't have to do it. I just thought it would be interesting :D . Oh and Adam I searched for about ten minutes and I couldn't find anything. As far as I can tell you've never typed the word "Christmas" or "tree" (excepting the post you just made) in OT :D EDIT: http://progressiveboink.com/archive/chr ... ndex1.html That's a list of the 100 greatest Christmas shows. For some reason page two isn't working for me, but one and three do. I just realized I meant Holiday Inn in my post above instead of White Christmas. I don't know why I always call it that. EDIT2: The link is just slow because it is getting Farked. EDIT3. I am thinking of White Christmas. The two movie synopsis are too similar :P .

Official TIF Holiday Thread!
Elf is great, I love Zooey Deschanel. She is even hotter in that movie than normal. (A little OT, Tin Man starts tonight starring her!). But you really have to include A Christmas Story, White Christmas, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, The Grinch cartoon, and most importantly It's a Wonderful Life. They are classics. Elf is great, and it's standing the test of time well so far, but it might not down the road. Anyways I think you should request a poll for this thread that asks what holiday people are celebrating. The poll items could be 1. Christmas 2. Hanukkah 3. Kwanzaa 4. Winter Solstice 5. Consumer 6. None. First three and sixth are obvious, the fourth one I just learned some people celebrate. The fifth one is for those who still buy and give out presents but aren't religious (if you aren't religious but still celebrate on Christmas and call it Christmas, vote Christmas).

Zombie Plans-Revised
Zombies may be more resilient to cold than humans would be. Humans are warm blooded, zombies are corpses which are cold. Actually now that I think about it, cold would be worse for zombies. They would start to freeze a lot quicker than humans. Takes a little while for frostbite to start in a human, since the blood is a lot warmer. Zombie blood would stay at room temperature, which means if it gets to be 0degrees Celsius they would freeze.

Looking for some guidance on MMOs
The guidance I would give is forget about MMOs.

Zombie Plans-Revised
Depends on what type of zombies they are. Are they Dawn of the Dead 76 zombies? DotD 04? Shaun of the Dead? Return of the Living Dead? Night of the Living Dead? Or are they not really zombies, but kind of: 28 Days/Weeks Later zombies? What I would do depends on the type of zombies, where I was at, who I was with, and what supplies I had with me.

An alternative to the Big Bang: The cyclic model
See I am just the opposite, I have trouble thinking of the universe as starting with the big bang and there wasn't anything before it. I mean I believe the Big Bang, I just don't see how it could all of the sudden happen. That's why I created my own cyclical theory a while ago. I still like to think of the universe that way even though I know it's wrong, because it's the only way to wrap my head around it.

An alternative to the Big Bang: The cyclic model
Nothing started it, it goes back infinitely. The way I thought of it can't work though, because of the second law of thermodynamics. Entropy only increases, so eventually after a Big Crunch it wouldn't bang. If time goes back infinitely, then the point when it stopped crunching would have happened an infinite amount of years ago. These new cyclical models I haven't even really looked at yet, I guess they got around that problem though.

What movie(s) did you last see?
30 Days of Night - This wasn't exactly what I expected. In this case though, it turned out even better. I mostly expected a scary horror movie, but it had the zombie apocalypse type movie feel to it. I don't care for scary movies, but I love zombie movies. So yeah, I liked it. I can't really think of any specific criticisms, but something seemed a bit off about it. Maybe it was the pacing. Still worth a watch though. Live Free or Die Hard - Once you get past the "computers don't work that way" feeling this movie becomes pretty awesome. The first in the series is still the best, this one might be tied for second best though. All the action you could ever want, a lot of it is over the top though. Sometimes that's good, sometimes bad. Oh and Mary Elizabeth Winstead is in it, who is extremely hot. Stardust - Holy [cabbage] this movie is frakkin' awesome! When I first saw the previews for it I was uninterested. Then when people started saying how awesome it was, I kept on wanting to see it more and more. That's all I heard from anyone who saw it was how great it was. I didn't think it would even be close to living up to expectations, but it exceeded them. I don't know why it was so great, it just was. Oh and Claire Danes is one of the hottest women alive. That definitely helped. EDIT: For some reason I put Sienna Miller instead of Claire Danes. Sienna is really hot also, just not as hot.

An alternative to the Big Bang: The cyclic model
Why does it have to be finite? As far as I know, it has to be infinite. You can't destroy matter. All you can do is change it to energy.
-
An alternative to the Big Bang: The cyclic model
I thought I came up with this theory a while ago, but when I mentioned it in the last big bang thread someone told me it was a common thought years ago. It was disproved for some reason.

Really sad comic
I don't really look at ytmnd all that often, but today I looked at a few. Does it not work correctly in Fx? Seems like the pictures are 1-2 seconds ahead of the music.

Any Economists out there?
You'd be better off posting this on an economics related forum, the chances of someone here taking third year economics isn't very high.

What movie(s) did you last see?
Gwoemul - The Host was alright for a monster movie. There were a few parts that I thought were kind of stupid though. I thought the ending was pretty good. The Exorcist - Finally got around to seeing it. It was OK, but there were a few parts that annoyed me. Basically the mom was the biggest annoyance. I wasn't really paying attention during the first 20 or so minutes of the film, so I may have missed out on why it happened. Don't think all that much was going on then though.

It's your funeral...
Donating my body to science, I think they cremate it when they are done with it.

School play cancelled for racial slur
Once again I'll have to explain people aren't complaining about it saying "Indian". They are complaining about the original title, which is what makes this story interesting. If they were complaining about it being called "Ten Little Indians" it probably wouldn't have even made the news.

Guys, I need some help. (FD returned; story pg. 4)
He wont be mad at you, he'll be happy you found it. That is, unless he was just gone for a minute and went right back to get it, but it wasn't there anymore. You could give it to lost and found, but someone else could get it then. I would say the best thing is contact him personally.
