  1. Er, no it wouldn't. Saying no to combat wouldn't make things interesting at all.
  2. Woah, that map is amazing. I think we're being a bit hard on Archi. I'm sure he has good intentions, and I think we can trust him to be reasonable about the power of his stuff.
  3. I don't know Penguin, Ross wants some sort of system where we have to battle monsters for control of tiles but.. For the record, I don't think it's a worthwhile system. Why would it cause problems in the end, Ross? As it is, battles take ages. People need to edit maps, and blah blah. I don't want to fight unnecessary battles that will take up a lot of my time.
  4. The warm up/cool down time is there to stop the game breaking. As you said, hit and run attacks are hard to defend against, and it's not really fair if someone comes in, blows some stuff up and runs away without being able to stop them.
  5. Well, yeah. That's how the system works, it's more dynamic than the system in Hegemony.
  6. ??? If you knew how much they cost you, then why ask? Another reason for hide tags is they make it far easier to scroll the page.
  7. There's a list of the points you need for each in the OP, Rocco. (Can people please use hide tags when they post large images? Images aren't resized in my browser.) /sigh Animal Husbandry - 4 Iron working - 4 Iron Weapons - 1 Basic Ship Building - 2 Fishing - 2 Medium Ship Building - 5 18 points. So you still have 4 to spend.
  8. Your tribe isn't "supposed" to have anything - besides which, I'm fairly sure the Incas had plenty of resources. Yes, two unique techs is enough to set your tribe apart from the rest. Are you saying that if someone offered you a sweet, but it was only one jelly bean, you'd moan at them for not being generous enough? Aside from the personal aspect of that, that's an awful analogy. Y'know what else? It's funny that you picked up having "1000BC" techs in the tree, yet you're moaning because you want to be the master of stone crafting. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the stone age earlier than the bronze/iron ages? ;)
  9. I'm fine with you saying your a 'rebel' faction, but you can't steal our tech because what you are proposing as your reasoning is completely absurd. My entire spacefleet, presumably in the top 5 size wise, is only about 60 ships. Of those, about 20 are transport. Furthermore, there are only around 15-20 planets colonised other than Earth. (What map are you making?! Are you just godmodding random NPC civs in?) Civilian's cannot "charter" trade vessels at this point in time, afaik, they're all government controlled for colonization/other stuff.
  10. What the hell!? your such a hypocrite. Arrogance, and just rude. Your not very clever, C and D are close on the keyboard. Kik your an idiot. No need for personal attacks Hex, I'm just enforcing the rules.
  11. Sorry, what? 9 million people, just built 60 spaceships, and then flew away from Earth? Am I reading this right?
  12. 1) Nor did he disagree, he just hasn't posted his support yet. What's your point? 2) Lose the arrogance Mather, it doesn't work well on you. 3) No, it's not too few, it's realistic. There is no reason why my scientists can't research exactly the same things as your scientists. 4) Er, yeah, yeah it is. Why would it not? 5) Uhm.. Yes it is? Check the first post. Y'know, where it says "Technology". 6) "a.c", eh? Alternating current?
  13. Some points. 1) It's been agreed everyone's using the same tech tree. 2) Doom made that tech tree, not Rocco. 3) You get two unique techs if you so wish. 4) There is a system for how long research takes you. 5) Play by the rules, or get out.
  14. I sigh heavily as I scrawl down, "A forum mute.."
  15. [hide=Techs][hide=Tree][/hide] [hide="List]Census - 3 Irrigation - 2 Herbal Medicines - 4 Education - 5 Academies - 7 Total points spent: 21[/hide] [hide=Effects] Increased crop yield. (?! what) Death from disease -15% Research points earned per turn increased by 25% [To 1.25] Allows me to count my people (what)[/hide][/hide]
  16. Updated map on first page. Yeah, 200 horses seems reasonable to start with. Nice job on your roster and techs.
  17. Really good idea Paul, I actually especially like the idea of giving the map sub sections. I think that it should take a while to research trading when it's going to give huge payoffs, but yeah, it's a great concept.
  18. Look closely. "Tower specialization."
  19. I think that's absurd. Also, sorry, I'd made a mistake updating the map - Doom's on that island. (I can't update you on the map until you choose a civ, anyway)
  20. 1) Hex. Use the map on the front page. I'll add you now. FFFFFF. - Ok, no I won't, someone has already settled on that island. If you still want to settle there, then I will, but otherwise choose another tile. Give me the grid reference and I'll add you. 2) Hex. What on earth do you mean? Yeah, for some WEIRD reason my scientists just can't wrap their head around iron working! No. Were civs in Hegemony the same? Not really, even though everyone was allowed to research anything. I guess you can argue that in hegemony you could research anything, whereas here we have a tech tree, but even in Hegemony, there was a virtual tech tree. As I said.. you get a 0-20 day head start in a field that you want, and if you want to specialize (as you are proposing) you will never lose that advantage unless you are a bad player. Even apart from this, you get 2 techs unique to your own civ. Isn't this enough? There are already 10~ civilizations. There's bound to be at least two which are similar, but it's still your own playstyle which will determine how your civ works. HEY GUYS CHECK THE FIRST POST THERE'S A FULLY UPDATED MAP THERE
  21. Oops, sorry, it was early in the morning when I was doing the map. I'll try and fix it now. Okay, fixed. I think the caps for normal units are: OS - 19 DS - 8 MS - 9 RNG - 5 All normal units have a HP of 20, divided into 10 people with HP 2.
  22. Heh, I agree your grid is better. (Though, it doesn't look so pretty, imho). I'll update the first post with it and add everyone's towns. Updated the map.. The grid numbers have changed, and I think the squares are smaller now so the map is in effect bigger. Some people got moved one or two squares, but it's not a big change and I hope everyone can shrug that off.
  23. Depending on how you, and others, spend starting research points, you have anywhere between and 0 and 20 day tech lead. There's no reason why you should ever lose this lead, unless your "opponent" is more efficient at building their towns than you, and so can pull ahead in tech. - Why add something to the game that compensates for your failure? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of being competitive at all? Yes, we all play for fun, but everybody likes winning.
  24. Yeah, you should make a unit roster. I'll add you into the map now. What does one day irl actually equal in game time? I was going by a year, are we keeping that format? EDIT: Updated map. Running out of clearly different colours!
  25. Yeah, this is true tbh. The reason we should have a standard tech tree is that (for me, at least) the main reason the original hegemony went to pot was it just became who could come up with the most powerful stuff. Yeah, I think it's reasonable to expect people to want some unique stuff, and I think as a result of that, it's cool if you ask to tech a certain thing, so long as you're reasonable about the research points needed to tech it.
