11-Dec-2013 - The Bird and the Beast (World Event 2)
I switched sides as I learnt more lore. I have been following Armadyl for quite a few months now. Honestly, I don't think its very good content. Its incredibly unbalanced and the way it works that unbalance will just draw more people to Armadyl's side. I also think its a bad plan to use such unbalanced content to direct the lore.

Too many years playing runescape. I have to use spell-check now on all my essays to remove the extra "u"s from my words. They belong there though. :) Apparently my hands agree with you, but I'm not sure my professors would.

No real difference, they both denote the same colour and I use them interchangeably for the most part without even thinking.

A conflict can still be gray even if one of the 8+ sides is completely evil/good. Overall there is still plenty of gray in the new God Wars, just not with Bandos.

I find Bandos interesting because he is so overwhelmingly evil. Jagex has been trying to give everyone either a flaw or a strength and they got to Bandos and were just like "Nope, He's Evil". Every other character has some form of grey in there. Armadyl led his followers to genocide, he's not really a great warleader and thats a weakness for him. Bandos has deliberately genocided his own people when they had no one else to fight. Its interesting in how unambiguously bad for Gielinor he is. Thats why I think he's an interesting character for the game but also why I won't be wanting him to win.

You're telling me that a one-dimensional "kill-crush-burn" god of war, who was intentionally written as an unlikeable, one-dimensional "kill-crush-burn" god of war, is more interesting than a god of justice who has to balance his ideals with his responsibility and the realities of what godhood means during a god war? I will never understand this forum. I think they'd both make for some great quests. Bandos as more of an opposition character. Maybe a Chosen Commander part 2. I actually though thats where WE1 was going to go with Bandos attacking Lumbridge to get at the Dorgeshuun and either Saradomin protecting Lumbridge or the Godless protecting the Dorgeshuun.

Really depends how you look at it. One of the major advantages of buying spins is that you get them in bulk so that you can get what you want from a promotion. The daily ones don't really have this advantage so it would remove most of the value from the spins, although some value is still there just not nearly as much.

I'm still extremely annoyed about them killing another God off so soon after they finally got to Gielinor. The last God Wars last 1000 years but Jagex seems intent on rushing this one. Not to mention using temporary content with little player agency to do so. I know they say "the community decides" but each individual player's decision is pretty much worthless with so many involved. Overall, I like the first World Event, Zammy was weakened, Sara gained some power but no major changes.

Behind the Scenes- December
Of course they aren't, but at the same time the people spent on one piece of content could be assigned to a different piece of content. So, while having WE2 doesn't necessarily mean that no one is working on a Con rework, it does remove resources that could be spent on something worthwhile. Granted, I wouldn't mind a second world event if it was adding to the lore, as it is it appears to be detracting from it and removing major characters too soon.

I think if they're actually going to kill off a God, then the event better be uncapped. Its really the only way I see the event being close. Armadyl seems to have a lot more player support in numbers, but are they as dedicated? I'm not sure. I'm still not happy though that they want to rush the 6th age though. Could have been a nice platform for the next 10+ years.

I liked the one that got picked because it wasn't just another skimpy outfit for women. Iridescence's wasn't bad either, but unless you're a man, k_aylee's looks like it belongs on a stripper.

26-Nov-2013 Coinshare, World Map and Tutorial
Here is what I would do to improve these shields: 1) 20% of all incoming damage is reduced, and 2.5% of each hit is converted to prayer points. Thus, you take a hit that rolls for 2k, you instead sustain 1.6k damage and heal 40 prayer points. 2) 75% of damage sustained by type the shield is strong against is deflected back to the attacker. Thus, if you are wearing the melee shield and take 1.8k ranged damage, the monster that hit you will sustain 1350 untyped damage (which results in defense exp, because it's a shield). This way, the spirit shields still retain some use as the "best" purely-defensive option, but the Barrows Shields are clearly better overall. And it makes shield tanking somewhat better offensively, too. Not sure they'd do the def exp think since they switched over to exp per kill and not exp per damage.

Tip.It Times - 24th November 2013 - Oh, grow up! 1 down 5 to go
Too easy? The last several updates have introduced bosses that most people are unable of defeating. Vorago and Barrows Elite are both only able to be conquered by a relatively small portion of the player base. Is that not hard enough for you? Indeed, a point I make about the Rise of the Six in my article. But, looking at the reaction by Ello Puppet it may be a good thing we have this kind of specialized content.. that is IF it makes the game retain some players. Still TS made the point the game needs more new ppl, one I obviously, looking at my earlier articles , agree with big time. I am 100% sure the game needs a lot of new people more then to retain the top. My 'easy' remark was in relation to GWD Hardmode. Not Vorago and RO6. These two bosses do show Jagex heading in the right direction for PvM mechanics. Requring teams to work as a unified team rather then just going at it. I completely disagree there. Having a couple bosses like that are fine, but basically requiring things like skype and other voice chats in order to do pvm is awful. One of the reasons I play rs is that I don't have to worry about voice chat. Then again, I have issues and I suppose they shouldn't have to design around everyone's neurotic tendencies.

I still like the theory that Zaros and Seren are one of the Elder Gods, just split up like Tumeken did.If you look at the concept art....Zaros, Seren, and the Elder God all have the same 8-eyed pattern. Zaros and Seren also both have the 4 ovals on their foreheads making a diamond (this is on current Zaross, not 2nd age one). So, an Elder God splits itself into two extremely different aspects...almost as opposite as you can be but both very powerful. Seren, often associated with light, walks among her people but believes in segregating them away so that no God need fight. Zaros, often associated with shadows, stayed about as far away from his followers as possible and only gave orders here and there, and believed at the time in building an empire (although it was not his final goal). So the Dark God could be Seren's opposite, Zaros, who is the same as Seren yet different.

Khazard has enough followers even now to wage a longterm war with the gnomes. Azzanadra was so powerful that Saradominist and Zamorakian forces joined to lock him up, whereas Hazeel would have nothing to fear from Zamorakian forces. Lucien and Sliske both seem to prefer hiding and plotting. Zemouregal was powerful enough to try to take over Varrock during the 4th age. Kharshai was attacked and branded with a Zamorakian symbol, which means he may have been attacked by Zamorakians which again would not be Hazeel's issue. So, of the Zamorakian Mahjarrat, only Lucien really seemed to go into longterm hiding. The Zarosian forces were pretty much decimated during the God Wars so it makes sense that those Mahjarrat may need to go into hiding since there were still large amounts of Saradominists and Zamorakians remaining afterwards. The time when Hazeel took out Baxtorian's Kingdom would be during a time when Baxtorian had took many soldiers and left it unguarded, so I could see Hazeel and Khazard taking many of the remaining Zamorakians and trying to set up a stronghold away from where the Saradominists main remaining followers were. Khazard obviously succeeded to a decent degree since he still has his own territory, and Hazeel managed to be overthrown in a coup by Saradominists. Ultimately I don't think there are any plotholes here, but it should probably be spelled out a bit better. I agree that Zamorak needs to really be shown in a better although not perfect light within the game.

Why do you assume that just because Zamorak was defeated that Hazeel would have been dead or in hiding? The general idea is that he and Khazard are the ones that brought down Baxtorian's Kingdom. Hazeel probably still had troops after Zamorak's defeat and the other God's banishments in the 4th age. Hazeel ruled what would approximately become Ardougne. He was ousted by the Carnilleans, but the Carnilleans just ended up as a powerful family and not the ruler of Ardougne.

Tbf they have made the point Zamorak is used as an antagonist and Saradominists have said he is evil, but of course their view is biased. I think their trouble is over-expecting of the average player. Many users around this forum have the awareness to realise Jagex are using character bias and such and ultimately, all the views we've been given where Zamorak = evil have this bias due to Saradominist sources and that therefore it may not be true, though we lack anything in-game yet to really show otherwise. But I'd imagine the average scaper is not on the ball enough to make this distinction and a half-assed DoC style quest showing this off isn't going to outweigh the mountains of other info in their minds. It's also a bit silly in that, quite clearly, the original lore was built on good, evil and balance. Yes they may be trying to create more nuances now, but the foundation we have is undeniably the blue good guy, the red evil guy and the green nature guy in between balancing them out. Even as the lore evolved this kinda remained true Zaros was just a tacked on omg so bad even the evil guy wants you to forget about him. Arma and Bandos were just tacked on as war and peace/justice and other gods were just sporadic name-drops with no real solidity to them. Yet they are currently trying to make out these nuances have always existed and we should've known all along. The only thing in game that really mentions Zamorak in even a half-decent light is the God Emissary book but its flawed in many respects. First, you have to sign up with an emissary before even receiving one which may make a person not want to change their opinion even after reading the book. Sort of an "I've already selected so why change". Second, you have to assume that the players will actually read the book when many players even complete quests without actually reading the dialogue. Lastly, you need to have really done Nadir to realize how terribly Moia was treated by Lucien so that you can see how much her confidence and self-worth has been restored in that book. It really takes a decent amount to realize the guy burning a village in the Book of Zamorak isn't completely evil.

Barrows - Rise of the Six
Not in all the cases. But even in the cases where your point is true -- it only reinforces what I am saying because in those cases the best gear was so cheap that it was essentially welfare gear cheap. But you still needed to be in the 1% to get any kills. It was so accessible that anyone could do it, but if you couldn't out-muscle whoever else was in the world you weren't getting any kills. That really didn't start to loosen up until part of the way through the Nex era, if not until they released instanced worlds. Sure, gear wasn't an issue, but I'd think that this is a better mechanic than one that fostered a lot of the social problems that you (and other Truthscape transplants, self included) tend to endlessly rant about. :-P World crashing didn't become a problem until about 2009 after the bonus weekends proliferated 96 Herblore/Summoning -- thousands of people got it for 50% price over the course of days. After that, crashing worlds became the norm. Yea, I remember going pretty early into release and world crashing happened but not too often.
