Director topics.
I would love to see something like this happen as I have little knowledge in this area. But *because* I have little knowledge in this area, I wouldn't really be able to donate much of my knowledge...

Quick Winter Olympic Hockey predictions.
I was being sarcastic. Obviously Phil was too. Or if he didn't realize that Winter Olympics would mean ice hockey... :P

Suggestions Topic
Excellent ideas, I'd really like to see some of these implemented - after all, the four mods of this board are really excited for it too, and would like to see it a "first-class board" as you say! So please, "suggestion" away! (btw, I used 'clean slate' to describe how i saw this too :P) I also think the topic about what to talk about on the music and movies board, will help clear some things up, and make this a better forum ;)

Movie Renting Topic - for anyone!
Okay, so tonight a few of us are going out bowling, and want to rent a movie afterwards... problem is, the diversity in what genre we're into. Two girls who like chick flicks and prefer to not have much violence, one guy who bases a movie on whether or not there's enough violence :P, and the rest of us, who don't really care (but don't really like chick flicks), as long as it's decently made and has decent acting... any suggestions? It'll be tough! And I can't think of anything for the life of me... EDIT: For anyone who wants advice on which movie to rent, post here.

Kansas School Board Votes Against Science
Well firstly about 4.5 billion years ago a supernova explosion (a supermassive star exploded) happened quite close to a planetary nebula (a cloud of gas, dust and larger particles). That would appear to *not* be the very start, since there already appears to be something here (gas, dust, and larger particles). I would disagree. Religion still benefits people today, I can speak from personal, objective experience. Personal and objective are mutually exclusive, a personal and objective experience does not exist (though one could argue all experiences are personal anyway, so it wouldn't matter either way) Toucḫ̩̉̉... I was wondering whether someone would call me on the objectivity :P what I meant was that I wasn't just saying that for the sake of my argument.

Kansas School Board Votes Against Science
No, you didn't - you may have given accurate historical information, but it was not applied correctly. Exactly, because it isn't applied correctly. Just because something happened some way in the past, doesn't mean it happens the same way in the future/present. Merc was talking about the *present*, you were talking about the past; in this specific scenario, the church no longer holds society back, therefore Merc's post was invalid. I am *not* dismissing what you said, I'm dismissing your application. This is so black and white I'm surprised I needed to reexplain this. IMO I never denied the event. If you call denying the event happening *now* denying the event happening *then*... then wow, just wow. Sure, too bad it's of no relevance to the church *not* holding back society today, as well as of no relevance to Merc's post. I would disagree. Religion still benefits people today, I can speak from personal, objective experience. Your post might have some truth in it but until you can show me how it is relevant to my *first* "merc-quoted" post...

Kansas School Board Votes Against Science
When did I deny it ever happened? I said that you were speaking in past tense, and I did not say that what you said wasn't true. Stop putting words into my mouth. Yep, that's what I figured before reading this.

Kansas School Board Votes Against Science
Actually, Matt is quite right about Religion holding back the development of society. It (science) was suppressed by the Christian Church soon after the collapse of the Roman Empire and remained like that for almost 600 years. It wasn't untill science regained more acceptance that society started moving forward, technologically. And even then it wasn't till the 16th century or so that things really started to pick up again. Too bad he was talking in present tense, and you in past.

Why do you deserve 10 Million Gp for free?
Obviously no one deserves anything from you. It's a game and anyone who is blessed enough to play it should be thankful for what they have :P.

The Music and Movies Board - A Guide
This board was created to "expand" offtopic, so to speak. We'd love to see more posts in the offtopic area, so this board hopefully will encourage more posting! So, we would love it if threads talking about music and movies in particular (specifics) were started :) this will create more activity in the OT forums ;) 1. What movie to rent? 2. What cd to buy? 3. What did you think about such-and-such a movie? 4. How do you find these lyrics? 5. Which guitar should I buy? Are all great topic ideas! (mind you, I don't make it sound very interesting, but that's up to you to change! ;)) The odd "which is your favourite guitar player" is alright, but these kinds of posts are getting quite redundant so let's keep it specific, to keep the variety! So specifics are good, generalities are okay, but keep them minimal :)... is the basic rule here.

Kansas School Board Votes Against Science
Agreed, though I think the two compliment each other quite well. Oh please, step off your soapbox and into the world of different beliefs. Ever thought that people might think society as a whole is declining? Bet you didn't. You're looking at development from a strictly scientific POV - there's other ways for society to develop, and sorry; science doesn't cover it all, nor does religion hold it back - because some people might think religion is the only thing left holding it together. But of course, you know better - religion sucks eh :|... so much for objectivity from the scientific community. People, you *cannot* compare religion and science. It just doesn't work! Almost any comparison will be fallacious.

Companies getting sued for Health Care.
I don't think large companies should be sued for harmful products. They aren't forcing anyone to consume them, and they don't keep the health-values secret. I know McDonalds keeps sheets of the nutritional (or lackthereof) content of all their products on the wall for anyone to look at, and cigarette packages have warnings on them. Lawsuits like this are just ridiculous. People just need to use their brains and *gasp* accept responsibility for their poor choices for once. Raise taxes on cigarettes ;) and do something about fast food... maybe eating it voids your health card  I don't know...

How crafting *could* carry on
I like this :) I don't raise my crafting ever because everything that can be made is in such huge supply and is really cheap... little things taht I'm not high enough to make that would be inconvenient to try to buy would encourage me to raise my level...

Vatican accepts evolution theory
I'm not sure who you mean by 'they', but it seems the Vatican is hardly saying Intelligent Design is not a good idea? It's just telling people to keep an open mind, also towards science. Which is always a good idea, I think :) ~Edit: apparently they realized exactly what you just said: Source: http://www.stnews.org/Commentary-1719.htm Bleh, that's the second time a topic title (remember rick's last topic on this) has been exaggerated and led me astray... guess I should read the whole article next time :P (topic title says that the Vatican rejected I.D)

Vatican accepts evolution theory
It's sad how they still haven't realized that Intelligent Design and Evolution go perfectly hand-in-hand. Intelligent Design merely says who, while evolution says how. :|

Do you know any Christian bands?
I thought it meant Payable on Death? o_O

Favirote Band? Favirote Gutarist?
It's kind of hard to think of an original RuneScape name when there's something like 5 million...? User accounts? And of course, if he's buying/selling stuff, it's a matter of convenience for his TIF account name to match his RuneScape account name. These sarcastic remarks are so random - I'll bet there's tons more "unoriginal" names on this forum - what made you decide to randomly insult this one? Spite probably...

Ok, a bit of a strange question i have here...
Stop playing... that's not healthy.

Do you know any Christian bands?
Matt...they play as a ministry. Their entire purpose in playing is to spread their beliefs. So what if a band puts their beliefs into their lyrics? I know that, but its just done poorly. I have heard some amazing Christian bands, getitng the meaning into the song yet retaining the 'word of christ' as it were. But most of the time its just done really badly. I'd have to agree with you there, but there's a few exceptions. Boogie, Shane & Shane (or Shane Bernard)... it's softer accoustic stuff, but the lyrics fit perfectly, and they're incredibly meaningful, and their voices are incredible. http://www.shanebweb.com , they're got audio examples for every song, though I think you need realplayer (they're .ram :-\). Or their official site here Also Copeland is a sweet band (they're Christians), though their lyrics are secular.
