No, but if the thread starter really wanted to help the victims of the Sudan genocide he should probably spend the majority of his time working a job and donating all the money he makes directly to low-overhead cost charities instead of posting on an internet forum. Point Being: Do more, talk less. Genocide in Africa has been going on for several thousand years now, if not more.

How do YOU feel Christians/other religions are treated?
pault replied to The Dark Lord's topic in Off-Topic
Locke, you have officially twisted yourself into a semantical pretzel. Reality exists only inside our own minds; we each have a working model of the universe inside of our brains. Unless you are proposing that the only influences on this model are the five physical senses, then you must admit that reality and non reality are relative concepts at best. Which brings me to the point which you failed to respond to previously, that drugs can allow anyones perception of reality, no matter how closeminded, to be radically expanded and changed. -
Activism is great. Awareness is great. Advertising is not. If people don't care enough to promote the issue, then double posting is not going to make them.

How do YOU feel Christians/other religions are treated?

I have established that reality is the representation of a collection of inputs from the five senses and other sources (such as societal pressures, chemical imbalances in the brain, etc..) and that all of our life experience takes place in this representation and not within the "Actual" reality, insofar as we do not have a direct connection with the physical world without filters and extreme variation from individual to individual. Therefore, the existence or nonexistence of anything is entirely up to whether we choose to believe in it or not, whether we want it to exist, whether we care, etc... To experience a breakdown of the logical functioning of the brain, I recommend everyone tries smoking salvia extract, which will completely open your mind. Salvia affects the Kappa opiate receptor in the brain, and is more powerful than acid. Having done both, I can vouch for that quality of the extract, as well as its spiritual benifit. Salvia extract is legal, I recommend buying 20x from iamshaman.com and trying it yourself for a breakdown of what it means to be a sentient being. -
You want the truth? You can't handle the truth. The military gave three accounts of what happened on 9/11. Which one to believe? (thanks to http://www.phillyimc.org/en/2005/10/16883.shtml) You don't even have to do that much thinking. Just use common sense. The pentagons air defense system just shut down accidentally? The FAA failed to call anybody in the military for extended lengths of time?

Plural existence (the holy spirit and jesus being the same entity, for example) does prove the self-contradiction and simultaneous existence and non-existence of reality (and objects and concepts within it), insofar as the concept illustrates the human dillemma (later expressed as existentialism) that I myself have already explained; it being the gap between the ability of human beings to understand what senses define their privately created sentient reality and how many actually affect their consciousness. The best representation of this dilemma comes from Plato's Cave. If a man lives his entire life in a cave, with only a tiny pinhole of light to flesh out his small reality, if ever a cave wall is broken down and he experiences the full light and joy of life, it will be as if he has broken down the gate of heaven and ran inside. -
Imagine the world without a war on drugs. What if the government tried to help people with substance abuse problems instead of putting them in jail? Imagine a world without corrupt government institutions, such as the FBI and the CIA which are both unconstitutional and go against the founding principles of our country. If you inform to a corrupt institution, are you really doing any good? There's a big difference between being an FBI informant and being a witness in a murder case. The FBI is a corrupt and evil instition, while the police force at least arguably has some benefit in that they sometimes actually help the people, but consider the fact that police imprison more people for casual drug use than violent crime. Are you really so afraid of the fact that America would lie to its people? Every government does it. Sure. Starting with the Zoroastrian concept of having a body and a soul, dualism and self-contradiction has been a feature of every major religous or philosophical doctrine known to mankind. For example, Christians worship one god, who is the father and the son (Jesus, who is also both a man and god), and who is part of the holy trinity (which is just one god). In more scientific terms, dualism and contradiction appear in the big bang theory, where an equal amount of matter and antimatter should have appeared at the start of the universe, but the antimatter is mysteriously missing from the known universe. -

Actually, my whole point was that belief does make truth. Our reality is based not only upon our five senses, but many other factors as well, and our reality is created wholly within our own brain, being a closed off system not in direct contact with the "Real" world, allowing our consciousness very little unfiltered contact with higher level concepts; try some mescalin. Laws don't apply to deities. Seriously, you have a lot of learning to do. -
Not me, though people have accused me of trying to steal theirs. For example, Pauly, of http://www.enuze.com/ used to be PaulyT. I joined a forum that he goes to, using the name "PaulT", and later he changed his name to Pauly, to avoid confusion with myself. Though he never actually accused me of "Stealing" his name, many other people did.

I've actually gone to a private religious school as well, with mandatory participation in religious events. It was extremely educational for me, because it changed my views on religion and opened my mind to new ideas. The only negative part about the religious aspects of my school was sitting through church on uncomfortable chairs. I think if church's invested in Lay-Z Boy Recliners they could get a huge boost in attendence. I never said you didn't have any tolerance or you are self-centered....I really just burned your school for making you read such a cabbagey article.

You love the word fallacy but you can't apply it to your own logic. Debate of faith based religion, for example trying to counter the statement: Is impossible because the faith of people within itself is the profound and truthful proof of gods existence (it being a faith based religion, the faith in god existing actually causes him to exist and defines his existence). Consider discordianism, a religion based upon chaos. The existence of any "God" is up to people, to believe and make it real. This reasoning has its roots in the ideaology that we do not experience reality directly, our brain interprets the signals from the world around us, using not only our five senses but societal pressures, and other hidden senses and creates a "Matrix" like dreamworld which we actually do our living in. Every human percieves the world differently, and within this paradox is how we create our own reality, on our own, together. -
Why do you think I've put so much time and effort into trying to convince people that the government is lying to them? Open minds are what we need more of these days. As long as you've learned some things and are better prepared for the day the truth comes out, that's a good thing. The fact that nobody has brought up real evidence against the facts I have presented which incriminate the federal government, however, speaks to the truth of my position. Work to convince people that the government lied. Go to 9/11 truth rallies to show my support for the movement. Write to my senator, and representatives at all levels of the government. Support petitions and legislation for 9/11 truth. And maybe, just maybe, if I get frustrated enough, I'll burn myself to death in front of the White House.

You can't argue about faith based religion. The principle of time doesn't apply to a deity. Also, sentient thought is just a clever adaptation monkeys have developed to more efficiently absorb sunlight, (by mining up ancient plants full of energy and using fossil fuels, genetically modifying plants to work more efficiently, etc..) and is most likely unrelated to any god who doesn't want to be the laughing stock of the entire pantheon. -
Most of the intelligent individuals who have responded to this thread have agreed with at least one point regarding areas where the 9/11 Commission has failed to investigate. The WTC7 buildings collapse was completely ignored by the report, and the insider trading that went on directly before 9/11 was not sufficiently investigated, to use two small examples. The commission claimed to offer a complete and independent investigation into the attacks. It did not. A new investigation must begin now.

The "Terrorists" were never the real problem. All war is terrible, and in war every side uses tactics that are unsavory. The US firebombing of dresden in WW2, the use of nukes on Japan, and the US providing Israel with cluster bombs which they use with impunity, are examples of acts of "Terrorism" by the US. "All war is based on deception." -- Sun Tzu Lies about the Maine helped launch the Spanish American war. Lies about the communists helped launch the Vietnam war. Lies about Iraqi soldiers ripping Kuwaiti babies from incubators helped launch the first gulf war. Think about the fact that we sponsored and taught the "Terrorists" when they were fighting Russians in Afghanistan, and Osama bin Laden met with a CIA agent in July of 2001. http://www.globalresearch.ca/articles/CHO109C.html http://www.greenleft.org.au/2001/465/25199 http://www.guardian.co.uk/waronterror/s ... 44,00.html

I once asked a Bishop if he believed in evolution. He said that evolution could be a tool of god, you never know. It's comforting to think that Christianity can umbrella out over science, but in the same token it's actually quite alarming. The God of the Christian bible has too much personality and vengeance to be a true omnipotent and omniscient being of love and neutrality, and trying to put him behind the scientific creation of the universe (big bang, evolution) is as ridiculous as trying to prove science wrong with religion or visa versa. God doesn't do natural selection, he does God selection. -
The Iraq war actually increasesthe risk of terrorist attacks. http://www.commondreams.org/headlines04/1013-05.htm http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/09/ ... 6338.shtml http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/09/25/ ... index.html http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... 01455.html Hmmm, it's almost like George Bush lost the popular vote, and was never actually elected by the people. I think you forget that he was decided into the presidential office by the supreme court in Bush vs. Gore. I don't even know what you are talking about here. I judge a book by its content, not by how much of a "Somebody" the author is. I have read the 9/11 Commission Report, and concluded that it is not a definitive nor accurate report on the terrorist attacks against our nation. I recommend you read it. "Omissions and Distortions" is a great exploration of some of the commissions worst lies and alternate histories. I do not believe the 9/11 truth movement is based upon attention-seekers . The mainstream media gives very little or no coverage of this huge issue. Those who come out as supporting the movement are blacklisted, lose their jobs, etc. I don't have to prove it by myself. I only have to read the 9/11 Commission Report, and compare it to reality. Solid proof the government lied: ~The omission by the 9/11 Commission Report of the fact that WTC 7 (which was not hit by an airplane and which had only small, localized fires) also collapsed ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ã

MSNBC, which previously trusted Zogby http://www.zogby.com/News/ReadNews.dbm?ID=634 Apparantly distrust him when he does something like poll the troops in Iraq to reveal most of them want out. http://mediamatters.org/items/200603230016 Most of the criticism of the poll of soldiers in Iraq, for example, comes from people who refuse to believe the reality of the situation in Iraq, not people who can actually raise a valid point against the poll Bill O'Reilly called him the "Most accurate pollster", and Chris Mathews said "John Zogby, you're the best pollster.". Apparantly over at Fox News, they still like Zogby, but only on issues like the three stooges: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,208577,00.html Which poll is more important, how people feel about 9/11 or how many people know the names of the three stooges? What is fox news motivation for selective reporting despite the fact they trust Zogby?

Irony Uh...Way to cite a source we can actually check. Guess what, I'm a borderline schizophrenic, and marijuana actually helps me reduce symptoms. The reason there is a high rate of marijuana use among schizophrenics is because of the relaxation and relief it offers. One way to show that marijuana isn't causing schizophrenia is the fact that schizophrenics show distinctive behaviors at a young age, and have a different chemical structure in their brain. http://www.well.ox.ac.uk/~clyde/ Hahahahaha. No. It's not like I've cited three different scientific studies, a newspaper article, and multiple google searches on key terms which will allow you to find hundreds of studies on the subject, as well as supplying a link to a video showing that the reason marijuana was made illegal was simply racism, not fact, whereas all you have done is spout vitriol about "Stoners".
