  1. Okay, I lucked out in Sheild of Arrav many months ago and found someone selling the sheild half I needed. I finally got around to doing Hero's and it was kind of a pain finding a partner (thank goodness for Tip.It forums that I even found one :)). My question is, are there any more quests that require another player that I can get out of the way now? I've looked through many of the guides and I'll continue looking, but if anyone happens to know off the top of their heads, I'd appreciate a quick answer.
  2.  Don't forget TLA: Three Letter Acronym
  3. ...off topic (even though you do mention it in your post), I've seen you post in a few other threads as well. Nothing would have given me the impression you are challenged. If someone who can post as intelligently as you is considered "mentally challenged" than I think that condition is drastically underdiagnosed, considering some of the other people I've encountered here and in RS.
  4. Yeah, because in order to become a member you have to pass an integrity test...
  5. Yes. When I was much newer in the game, I was fishing at Draynor and lagged just after seeing a River Troll appear. When the lag subsided, I was in Lumbridge. I headed back over to Draynor to continue fishing and three or four guys were laughing at me and telling me I needed to pay more attention to what I was doing. Since they obviously saw me die, I simply asked if one of them had picked up my blue cape. One of them had. I asked if they were willing to return it and the names started flying, as were accusations of begging. Whatever. It was only a blue cape and it's only a game. It was after that that my fascination with people's behavior on a MMORG began. Now I'm able to find pretty much everything anyone does at least mildly interesting, even if it does disadvantage my avatar.
  6. "Meh" is not an abbriviation.. its basically like saying, whatever... try it out! Someone: HEY! you broke my ez bake oven! You: Meh. There you go bringing it up AGAIN. Look, I said I'm sorry about your EZ Bake oven. It was an accident, okay?!? The whole world doesn't have to know. On topic, what took me forever to figure out was what all the "DDS, DD+ and DDP" meant. Until I finally figured out they were different variations of poisoned dragon daggers...
  7. I'm probably not the first to say this, but I can't resist... Timmy posted! :) The monsters in the abyss would be a great combat training ground if it wasn't for the fact that the xp rewards are far lower for killing those monsters. Something similar could be done at the ess mines. I also like Timmy's idea of a high defense. The Broodoo victims are relatively low level, but try standing and fighting them without utilizing their respective weaknesses. They put up a good long fight due to the high defense (well, that and the stat-reducing spells).
  8. LOL Nice censor. Although when you've seen the things I've seen on a farm, a calf feeding from it's mother is nothing.
  9. oddfaery2, nice article. I'm still rather optimistic about the update myself, but your suggestions are well worth considering. I especially like flooding the rune essence mines with low level monsters. It would be similar to the scorpion pit in Al Kharid.
  10. Thanks utter492. Count me as one member who will be in the market for normal ess. I can only use one staff at a time and since many spells require multiple elemental runes, I'm going to need to keep up a supply of all of them. I certainly am not going to be wasting my valuable Pure Ess on lowly elemental runes, so what used to be rare trips to free worlds will now become quite common as I buy normal essence from my free-playing counterparts. Maybe the price of normal ess will decrease, but the demand surely won't.
  11. Take it from a former farm-boy. Cows do have horns. They're just usually cut off at a young age. We used to cut the horns off the bulls too though.
  12. I know what you mean by the heart racing. :) I play this game purely for fun. I recognize it for what it is: An amusing diversion from real life and that it's only pixels. When I lose items, I laugh it off. So why oh why does my adrenaline start pumping when I walk into the deep wilderness? There's something about the experience psychologically that is able to transcend my more rational thoughts sometimes. Hehe.
  13. Bloodlust is the right word. I'm not a PKer myself, so I can only speculate, but I imagine - given the dangers of the wilderness - there can't be a high player population to choose from when a PKer goes hunting so they'll take any white dot they can find to relieve the monotony.
  14. I don't see anywhere that the starter of this thread was implying that Jagex was trying to entice kids to communisim through the Guthix druids. Jagex has been knows to draw parallels to many other aspects of modern culture. There are literary references strewn throughout (as indicated by another thread) and "inside jokes" galore. I'm even willing to bet there are jokes and references in-game that only members of the Jagex programming staff are in on. If someone decided to use communism as a basic idea to build off of when designing the culture of the fictitional druids, it's likely they did it just to add some depth and realism to that aspect of the game. If they were really trying to entice kids to such political philosophy, I'd expect them to make the druids much more appealing and something an impressionable teenager would want to model themselves after. They don't. The druids and their philosphies are (in my opinion) no different from the HAM cult. Just something that's a part of the game to make it less monotonous to play.
  15. Thank. You. There are many - usually optimistic - people on these forums that have earned my respect in the past who are getting swept away by the initial shell shock of such a drastic change. I know it doesn't help that public perception of Jagex was already overwhelmingly negative. When many people already distrust the folks behind the game, a change like this is guaranteed to have vocal critics. Just because most people think something's bad doesn't mean it's inherently bad. As I said in another thread, the players of this game are too resilient (or just too hopelessly addicted) to let this update do any substantive damage.
  16. Yes! The perfect holiday drop during the Superbowl. Too bad Jagex is British...
  17. I think it's the same reason some people prefer playing chess with another human being as opposed to a computer. NPCs have very limited capacity. Fighting another player (even with a lower combat level) offers up challenges that no computer - or computer controlled character - can offer. Personally, I enjoy Castle Wars for this reason. Others like the risk involved in the Wilderness since there's the thrill of possibly losing the items you're carrying, plus the possibility of gaining items from a "kill."
  18. Lim, please know that due to many of your previous posts, you've earned a certain level of respect from me. That's why I hope you don't find what I have to say condescending. An update on a video game, no matter how much it depreciates the value of in-game items, will never "ruin" anyone since the decision to play the game is purely voluntary. As for Jagex, it is their game. As long as the updates affect everyone, it can be considered fair. If everyone is given the same disadvantage, nobody is disadvantaged. In the short term it may seem like a devastating blow to the RS Economy, but I'm curious to find out what this will mean long term. I have a feeling the players of RS are resilient enough to bounce back and adapt in such a way as to make this update - maybe not a good thing, but - not as bad as everyone thinks it will be.
  19. Jackhammers to one-hit even high-level rocks or Chainsaws to get a full inventory of logs in less than 10 seconds Of course, such things would be cool for a few minutes but would probably cause me to quit the game because of the "ridiculous factor."
  20. Yes, a lot of useless whining topics about it. This is looking at things from a different angle. If a Mod agrees with you and locks this. So be it.
  21. It's been like that for a while. Not sure exactly when.
  22. We may have to adjust our normal money-making routines a tad, but this might not be the big deal everyone thinks it is. F2Players: You might think demand for your normal ess will drop, causing prices to fall. However, put yourself in the shoes of a P2Player. If I'm low on elemental runes, I'm going to do one of two things: 1. Make them myself 2. Buy them from another player Now, am I going to use my valuable Pure Ess to make simple elemental runes? No, I'm going to use the cheaper ess. Where do I have to go do buy that ess? A free world. If I buy the elemental runes, am I going to buy them from a member, who probably used Pure Ess to craft them, thus charging more for them? Or am I going to buy them from a F2Player, who used normal ess and is charging a much more reasonable price? All in all, this update will actually cause me to visit free worlds more, not less. The demand on F2P runes and normal ess (at least from me) will increase, due to the increase in prices for Pure Ess. P2Players: Moneymaking just got a bit easier. With the increase in value for Pure Ess, those of you who make your money from Runecrafting can cut out a very lengthy part of the process. I for one won't be selling Nature Runes as much anymore. I can probably make a quicker profit just mining the Pure Ess and selling it. That's a lot less walking through the jungles or dodging abyss PKers. This whole update can be win-win if we let it.
  23. I think this could work to my advantage. It never used to be very profitable for me to sell ess before. I'd always have to craft nature runes and sell them, which meant either risking the abyss or doing a lot of walking. Now that "Pure Ess" is sure to fetch a much higher price, I'm able to cut out a major step from my money-making process. I can see how F2P folks would feel a bit slighted though. Edit>>> After some thought, this could turn out to be a good thing for F2P Runecrafters and Ess miners. See my other thread http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?p=294 ... t=#2942414
  24. Even though I had absolutely no participation in the auction or the event itself, I found the article to be a fun read. That slave auction was one heck of an idea. Whoever came up with that, give yourself a nice pat on the back.
  25. Buddy, you've got one of the best attitudes I've had the pleasure of seeing! It's actually kind of strange to see someone with such a positive attitude have such a dark RS name...
