  1. Try wording them a little better before flipping? I'm pretty sure that they're not direct translations; as far as I recall, the French and German were completely different to the English and to each other prior to the Dungeon Maps update a few weeks ago. Just because they happen to be similar now doesn't mean they always have been or always will be.
  2. It's not a perfect translation but it provides a base for further speculation; words can easily be changed to fit.
  3. Leaving areas only alluded to is nothing new; there's Acheron in the north, the penguin Motherland (possibly one and the same?), and the underwater city to name but a few.
  4. The French one is pretty similar to the English, as far as I can see: I'm pretty sure it translates to something like "all these abandoned monsters have finally found where to go and the next thing you know graves are appearing everywhere..."
  5. While Rag and Bone Man was immensely frustrating and if any prospective sequel involved collecting more animal bones I'd have to slap whoever thought of it, a sequel without the task of getting various bones could be good if only to explain why he wanted them, as magzar said.
  6. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa The ROW doesn't increase the chance of getting a rare drop directly; if you end up getting a rare drop, the ROW makes it more likely to be a better one (to use a previous example, you are more likely to get a Visage than a Dragon Skirt).
  7. Catching a glimpse of Atlantis referred to by Guthix in one of the God Letters would certainly be neat, but I'd actually rather not go inside at the moment; I'm reasonably sure Guthix said that its inhabitants are actively attempting to restore contact with the surface and it could be much cooler if the Atlanteans (or whatever you want to call them) simply arrived unannounced.
  8. A dictionary isn't a MMORPG and won't use definitions that adhere to the meanings of words in MMORPG-land.
  9. I'm pretty sure its dungeon in this context. We don't have any keeps as such in Runescape but we have pletny of dungeons and we know a dungeon update is due. My Oxford concise french dictionary gives the following possible words: keep, great tower, dungeon, bulkhead. I picked dungeon as it would appear the most likely in this scenario given the tweets in other languages. You're forgetting that dungeon outside of MORPGs doesn't necessarily mean a cave network or whatever; it's simply a place where prisoners are kept and keeps are a subset of dungeons--hence the definition of 'dungeon'.
  10. 'Donjon' is definitely keep, not dungeon. Dungeon is a derivative of it, sure, but it means keep. Hell, a keep can be referred to as a donjon in English.
  11. The English Twitter message certainly sounds like the dungeon maps, but I'm not as certain after looking at the French and German ones: "Où suis-je? Dans quelle état j'erre? Mais j'aperçois la lumière au fond du donjon..." My French isn't great, but as far as I am aware this translates to something like "Where am I? In what state [state as in United States, as far as I know] do I wander? But I catch sight of the light at the far end [possibly bottom or back] of the keep." The first two sentences sound somewhat like the dungeon maps, but the last sentence doesn't at all, though I can't figure out to what it might refer. "Die Zeiten sind düster, ein Update bringt Licht. Bald wird manches klarer. Mehr verraten wir nicht." My German is worse, but according to people on RSOF this means something along the lines of "The times are gloomy, an update brings light. Soon many things will be clearer. We do not betray anyone." This doesn't sound like dungeon maps at all to me -- perhaps the new Myreque quest referred to by the Chaos Elemental? The times in Morytania are certainly gloomy due to the influence of Drakan, and light (both physical and metaphorical) is sorely needed. The entire region is fairly mysterious and the finer details are pretty much unknown to us, and the idea of not betraying anyone fits the 'all for one and one for all' attitude of the Myreque in my opinion.
  12. I'm pretty sure that the Tale of the Muspah confirmed the location of the ritual site. I seriously doubt that the ritual site would be the GWD, if only because Jhallan says that it is above him when he is in the cave towards the end of Tale of the Muspah.
  13. That makes more sense, though I'm pretty sure they were sacrificed individually, i.e. in different rituals. It explains the first Mahjarrat's loss in the Ritual (Lamistard / Mizzarch), but not that of the other two (the other one and Ralvash): they would have been restored to power by the Ritual.
  14. AFAIK, this would create a continuity error: it's been made pretty clear that at least Ralvash (though presumably Lamistard and Mizzarch too) was sacrificed in the Mahjarrat Rejuvenation Ritual.
  15. I'm trying to complete all of the achievement diaries, and I currently only have the levels to complete two: the Karamja and Fremennik Province diaries. However, both of these require me to kill a fairly high-level monster. Does anybody have any tips on getting to the l360 Ket-Zek in the Fight Caves and killing a single Mithril Dragon for these diaries? I'd prefer to not buy any overly expensive equipment, if at all possible, though. If you need my stats:
  16. Why couldn't an Elder Demon be in Zaros' ranks? I'd assume that Jagex just made a typo.
  17. A cabinet of sorts would work, I think. The player could store the various rewards in the cabinet, which could be viewed in close-up by clicking on it, thus displaying the various quest items.
  18. Am I the only person that was a little surprised (and disappointed) at the lack of a miniquest associated with the Throne of Bandos area? The quest was easily one of my favourites, but a small miniquest in the Throne of Bandos might have been a nice excuse for more backstory.
  19. - A new skill could be nice -- but that is by no means certain -- but I'd far prefer to see updates to existing skills before yet another one is introduced. - The conclusion of some existing quest lines (we're looking at you, Plague City: you were released six years ago now) before any significant new ones are opened would also be great. I'm not saying to hold off on releasing quests outside of these storylines, but it'd be good to have a storyline concluded before another is opened. - An extremely difficult quest that relies on logic and problem-solving with randomly-generated puzzles that can't be passed quickly with a guide would be ideal.
  20. Ah, right. That makes sense and explains why the castle is destroyed in both realms too; thanks.
  21. Forgive me if I'm wrong (as I most probably am: the spirit realm is hardly my strong point as I've done neither Spirit of Summer nor Summer's End) but as I understand it the Spirit Realm functions as a polar opposite to our own (the case in point being the Spirit Beast rising in our realm when defeated in the Spirit Realm), but if the supposedly Dragonkin castle's Spirit Realm counterpart were to be destroyed, would wouldn't it be in our realm as it originally was?
  22. Wait, is that just a convenience thing or are excess items (i.e. those items that pass the F2P bank limit) removed from the account, or will they be accessible again once I renew members?
  23. I am considering leaving playing RS for quite a long period of time--I cannot play on high definition mode on the computer I usually have access to (a laptop) and my membership has expired, which combined with the lack of HD does not inspire me to play until I have access to a better computer more frequently (with any luck, this should be soon; we are considering building a new computer at the moment and hopefully I can nudge my father in the right direction as far as CPU and GPU are concerned--he always manages to choose pretty mediocre ones :\). My account will not be purged or deleted or anything due to inactivity, will it? I have a good deal of stuff I would like to keep for when I do start playing again, and having my account purged or removed would be extremely irritating, to say the least. I'm pretty annoyed at not having access to HD. I suppose I could renew membership on standard detail, but where that seemed okay before it pales in comparison to what I can see of HD from screenshots and so on. The ironic thing is that I can play HL2: Episode Two on this laptop with mid-level settings (which is certainly more taxing than RS)--the graphics card is missing a rasteriser, apparently, which is required for HD-RS.
  24. I stopped playing Runescape shortly before the HD update--mostly due to a buildup of work and a desire to learn Python--but I recently wanted to begin playing somewhat regularly again. I first selected the HD option (running Vista), but Firefox crashed before anything in the applet showed up--the bar with the 'world select' features and so on loaded, however. I figured that this may be to do with the graphics card, especially since I am more or less stuck to using a laptop for the forseeable future (there is a desktop available, and I will try that, but I'm not able to access it that frequently), so I tried standard detail--the same happened. I went on to try both detail levels using Ubuntu, which I have dual-booted with Vista, but I got a gripe about a missing rscache directory--usually, I'd play with unsigned Java on Ubuntu because of this (I haven't been able to fix it), but I can't find a way of changing the Java type after the HD update. If anyone can tell me how to change the Java type (especially when I think you need SUN Java with Linux) or fix the rscache gripe, please tell me. I have yet to try using Opera or reinstalling Java, but is there anything else that it could be (I really should have done both of those things before, I know; sorry :\)?
  25. With the change to the RS website design, is it still possible to change the Java mode used by the game to SUN or unsigned? I want it to run on Linux, but standard Java does not want to work on it. I have not found an option to change the Java mode, however, so if anybody could tell me how I'd be very grateful.
