20 February 2006 - Updates, updates and more updates...

a relatively lame 93. -
I guess it flashes up a message for you that distracts you, and when its done over and over again, its like a "spam" of requests that can distract you into not doing what you need to do, ie, drink your prayer pot. Ahh.. a classy way to get ahead

I haven't had members for years.. would anyone be kind enough to explain why teleothering someone here can kill them?
-
Actually it's been proven on here that Verac's can hit through prayer.
-
Nah, Halberds have the same accuracy as the battle axe (way lower than 2h), and strength a bit lower than 2hs.
-
I wouldnt agree that that is a D2H. Look at ice giants, the same sword a different color, can i call that an Ice 2H then? The giants just hold an elemental sword that matches their element. Mith 2h

Good points. I think that's all the more reason they should have the beast actually in the wild.. it will make the new dragon weapon all the more difficult to obtain.

That would be really awesome if it was a giant who was so tall that its head was in the clouds, and zoomed all the way out you could only see the bottom of his beard. But if it were that big, you'd think it'd be closer to Jad level than anything else... But they could afford to make the reward (D2h with amazing special, and other ridiculous equipment/rune/arrow/bar/ore drops, esp because Jad doesn't drop) if it were that high level and way up in the wilderness.

That would be hilarious.

Warning!!! New way of Scamming!!!! A MUST Read!!!

Just because a scam lacks intricacy and is easy to thwart doesn't make it any less of a scam.. it's misleading someone to attempt to take their items from them. -
Why don't Runescape give birth to "Fatigue" again?
Bassfreak replied to Chaos_Reborn's topic in General Discussion
I think increasing the frequency of random events would be a better step in deterring autoers. As it is, you can go an hour straight with a skill without running into one, but if they made them occur, on average, say once every 5-10 minutes of straight training, you would see a lot more autoers killed off and teleported to remote locations, and ultimately, giving up. And most legitimate players shouldn't have a problem with them occuring more often, as you get free items/exp from a lot of them, and the training in rs2 is laughably easy/fast anyways. -
I disagree. I am one of many people who have been hacked without ever having downloaded files they were unfamiliar with, making an easy password or recovery questions, or telling anyone their account information. Sounds unrealistic to you? It did to me, too, but reality hits pretty hard when you lose 50 million worth of stuff. Thankfully, that's what made me decide to quit members and stop training on runescape and just log in every other week or so to pk.

There is. And it doesn't require any runes or a certain magic level. Tis called the 'ignore list'. -
WHAT... HAPPEND... TO.. THE.. COMMUNITY...
Bassfreak replied to Drift_In_Blood's topic in General Discussion
I guess this is what i get for starting a f2p character.. (15 days until p2p.. then i will never deal with this cabbage again) hah hah hah. If only... -
If you don't like it, don't use it. When I was a member, i thought having infinite fire/air runes and stats like a rune long was great for situations where I wanted to mage and melee at the same time while conserving runes. If you think a rune long is a terrible weapon, then go use your dragon scim or whip or Dharok axe if it makes you feel tougher.

I agree.. I don't see how people could not call this a scam. Someone said it's a scam if you tell them you're doing something that you're not. Well, that's true, but the inverse is also true. If you leave out a big part of the picture that ends up hurting them, then it's dishonest and a form of cheating them out of their money, aka scamming. It's just like trying to get a new player to trade their armor for a 'super rare black lobster'.. The person is telling them that they're just going to take a picture of them in the wilderness and then reward them for helping out. In both cases, what they say is just a cover for a hidden agenda, which revolves around taking the unsuspecting victim's items (which they had not intended to give up). Obviously this scam is much more elaborate than the 'black lobster' one, but the same basic concepts apply. Just like the black lobster scenario isn't a legitimate form of trading, something that's normally legal.. the whip/dragon scimitar scenario isn't a legitimate form of pking. It's all lying to someone to get their items from them. And of course a player should be wary of these kinds of tricks in the first place, but that doesn't make the offenders less guilty. Besides, some scams (this one is a great example) are incredibly elaborate and could catch some normally cautious players off guard.

I can't believe no one's mentioned the classic example (besides spot potion) that's been around since the beginning of time: tiles (in the rat houses in the wild)
-
Hahah.. these rs2 generation players give me a good laugh sometimes.. You left being 'pure' behind when you leveled your magic and prayer above one. Defense doesn't have an effect on the pure status of a character, though pure pkers tend to (or tended to in the original runescape) keep it at the minimum requirement for whatever set of armor they would be using.

There's hardly a difference now, now that most of the skills are basically automatic, and exp earned in rs1 has been just about rendered obsolete since they decided to make leveling up many times easier. I hate to sound like a whiner, but the change in leveling time is just too dramatic to not acknowledge. I sometimes wonder what I could have done with the time I would have saved achieving my same stats in the rsc days, had they used the current exp gaining system all along. And no doubt many people have wondered that regarding those who were able to rapidly gain incredible stats through autoing. But I digress. I'm not here to try to blame anybody, or give anyone a hard time for reaping the benefits of the new system. On the contrary, I don't mind anybody, autoer, legit player, or whatever, getting really high up, because now that getting stats in the 70s isn't necessarily even top 100,000 material, I don't even find any of it a big deal. I would never auto myself, for one because i'm done advancing stats, but also because i wouldn't want my character banned, but I'll put my neck out there and say that there's not much prestige to be had for high level players any more (unless you're really really high.. well into the 3 digits in combat). Back in the day of bluerose13x and tks and all them, I hated autoers as much as the next guy, because they were trying to get respect they didn't deserve. But now that you (at least to my knowledge) have to be there at the keyboard to get the kind of levels required for being revered in runescape, I really don't think it's a big deal. So they have in the 80s or 90s in this stat from autoing.. heheh.. scandalous back in the day when that would have placed them among the highest ranks in that stat, but now, when tens of thousands of others can boast the same, I don't see why that should ruffle my feathers. Believe me, I absolutely understand the reasoning for not tolerating cheaters and autoers, and I certainly don't condone using those methods, but I just thought maybe I'd give a little bit of a different perspective to think about.
