Multi-Site Steel War 4 (Oct 18, 2pm Edt)
Everyone get the MSSW4 sig in their signature. Tip.it's strength comes in numbers. Invite every single one of your friends and don't forget to spam the unofficial tip.it chat, reminding people of the war. And also, as stormrage has already mentioned, this is an enormous event for your first-timers. Don't underestimate the time you need to log on to snatch a spot in the world. Just to be safe this time I would log on 1 hour before the event and STAY ON. RSC has been our main rival for MSSW2 and 3. Kill RSC first, don't let the weaker fansites weaken us. RSC (zybez) should be our main target (red capes). RSC will be thirsty for revenge after their last defeat, so we cannot stand down. They will most likely use their large number of clans to aid them in battle. They learned their lesson, but we can't let them win again. We can't do what RSC did in MSSW3 and lessen our strength just because we won the last MSSW. Yes, we are confident that we will win again, but it is only confidence. We must muster an overwhelming strength, more powerful than the previous war. Some history behind the war for those uneducated or interested: The first MSSW was nothing popular. There was no post made on the main tip.it website and nearly all the sites did not take the war too seriously. However, hundreds showed up, and it was an epic war. The word spread about the war; the tip.it war-goers explained the epicness of the war and were interested in becoming the victor of the next. The next war, MSSW2, was some what unexpected. Hundreds more attended, and it was basically the same as the last war. Some bitter debates followed between other fan sites and RSC, but RSC was once again declared the winner. Bitter for revenge, and wanting to prove that RSC could be beaten, a huge recruitment program was launched by tip.it with the announcement of the MSSW3. With the help of dbz, das, ts_stormrage, and many others (myself included), many clans were invited, and hundreds were told of the war, and those hundreds were encouraged to tell others of the war, and so on. The news of the war spread far and wide throughout the tip.it community. Some were still not convinced that tip.it could beat RSC. However, they were proved wrong. 12 hours before the event, 15 players, dressed in full steel and green capes, were standing in edgeville. 20 minutes before start, no less than 700 green capes were flocking in edgeville. RSC had apparently underestimated the other fan sites as well, only able to muster a fraction of the tip.it army before the server completely locked up 30 minutes (correct me if I'm wrong) before the event because of full capacity. In the end, it was not a war, but rather a slaughter. Hundreds of green capes spilled into the war zone, 30 piling any different colored capes and killing them in 10 seconds. Debates followed the war, accusing tip.it of cheating. However, it was obvious that even without the "mages" and "bsers" that tip.it had, tip.it still would have won.

Multi-Site Steel War 4 (Oct 18, 2pm Edt)
FOR TIP.IT! We proved we could beast RSC last time, let's do it again! Dbz, das, or ns, tell me how I can help and I will do (as I did in the last war :) ). Our recruiting program was extremely sucessful last year. At the moment I am trying my best to get the word out, but if there are any specifics you need I will gladly do them.

ghosts
They lack the mind of a human, they are simply programs. You can spend 10 years trying to write the code for the human mind and its stategies and still get only a fraction-way there. They basically have no strategy. A simple mage/range - melee combo is quite easy to pull off with no experience. Is it so hard to freeze someone, range them from afar, and run up to them and unleash some melee attacks? I very much enjoy revenants over pkers. Pkers held a variety of strategies and weapons that had been perfected over years of experience. A barrage followed up by powerful dds specials would certainly prove a challenge to a treasure trailer or boss hunter alike. What do revenants have? Well, only powerful hits. Yes a revenant can freeze, but it is only programmed to preform a set number of attacks after that. Can they think "Oh, that person is heading toward the ardy teleport, I need to focus all my efforts on freezing him before he gets away!" or "He's heading into a multi-combat zone, I better watch out for any friends he may have." or "He's heading toward level 20 wilderness so he can teleport, I should try to teleblock him."?

A thirst for challenge
Well that's funny because I've seen her die three times just with a team. XD I had a picture of it ("Defil3d has just died!") but unfortunately I forgot to save and some one shut down the computer. ;) Even if a person did manage to beat it solo (which is certainly a challenge I imagine), the rewards would be pitiful. I'm talking about something challenging, but at the same time something that is incredibly rewarding (players would not fight the beast if its highest drop was a few mahogany planks). Let's face it, if a 138 soloer was lucky to kill the beast, he most likely failed many other times. Infact, just the average drop wouldn't make up for the millions on supplies he has probably spent.

A thirst for challenge
A long time ago, the most powerful monster in runescape was the King black dragon, level 276. Today, 14 attackable creatures pass him in combat. For quite a while, TzTok-Jad was the most powerful monster in the game. After over 60 rounds of regular monsters, players had to defeat the massive TzTok-Jad to receive the legendary fire cape. At of the release, it seemed an impossible challenge. Today, however, many strategies have been revealed to make it possible for a level 45 to acquire a fire cape. I find that disappointing. That's why I became really excited when I heard the first rumors of a creature more powerful than jad just hours after the release of Summer's End. I quickly completed the (annoying) quest, then proceeded to 3 item the new creature like so many had suggested at the time. The first time I fought the beast was a thriller experience that I hadn't come across since my first tanking of Kril (forgot to pray melee). Everyone was in the wrong armor and were using the typical slash weapons (whip, gs). The beast could hit over 60 and had a minion healer that hit constant 10s in his 3x3. Not only that - the beast had 2000hp! My jaw dropped when I saw that bar. The first fight took over 6 minutes. But then the strategies and weaknesses were discovered. It turned out the beast is weak to stab attacks (the zamorak spear is particularly effective), and running under it is an excellent way to shake it if you are tanked. Cannons, too, proved to be a fast and efficient way of slaying the healing minion (dark core). "Men drop like flies" used to be the saying during the first few days of the beast's release. This phrase seems to have died out. If you know all the strategies you'll find it quite easy to stay alive against the beast. Infact, if you have fast reactions, you can probably manage 5 sharks per kill with a basic team (10-20 people). Is there any real challenge in runescape anymore (exluding PvP)? Sure, you can solo GWD bosses, but if you are prepared and experienced, it's not that difficult. (And don't mention soloing the beast, that's actually considered impossible at this time). When I heard of the level 785 I expected a huge boss squirting mage/range attacks in every direction, hitting constant 30-40s on everyone, perhaps hitting one huge 70 (non-dodgeable!) on a single tank, forcing the tank to run under the beast as fast as possible or face a two-hit k0. High levels would fear the new boss. Only the mightiest players could slay it and rake in the 100k-70M drops it offered. I believe the beast could be the start of a new breed of boss that will expand more in the future. The beast takes forever to kill with its 2k hp and still manages to smack incredible 60+'s on tanks (and 20+ on non-tanks too simultaneously) It also lugs around some large defense level. Its hitpoints are particularly interesting. What if a boss had 3000hp? Maybe even 4000hp? What if, with this, its offensive combat stats were even higher than the beast? I await the day, jagex, when you release a quadruple digit monster. I can guarantee you I'll be one of the first on the battleground, hoping that my thirst for challenge will finally be quenched. Defender of Varrock - New Quest Released Today!
Here's a picture in the Runescape vs RWT Development Diary. The caption states "Some character concept art for a piece of content we're aiming to release in 2008." Jagex has been planning this for no less than 8 months.

G.E. manipulation by Jagex?

[DONE] Corporeal Beast lvl 785- Info & Drops
My observations (these may have been stated before): [*:387cwuhx]The beast has three attacks: A melee one (40+), a magic 'splash' one (where it hits multiple targets, the main target can get hit 60+, the others 20+), and a direct magic one (60+). [*:387cwuhx]The beast lowers your prayer and stats. [*:387cwuhx]DO NOT bring your familiars into the lair, he will devour them and heal himself. [*:387cwuhx]The only safespot in the room in under the beast. [*:387cwuhx]The dark core must be killed as soon as possible for the fight to be most effective. [*:387cwuhx]Getting 3+ players in the team to set up cannons really helps. The cannons always aim for the core once it spawns and usually kill it very fast. [*:387cwuhx]Having 85+ hp at all times seems to be a good idea. I was 5hp'ed from 90 hp once, all in about one second. [*:387cwuhx]Saying all this, the beast has a VERY HIGH K0 rate, possibly the highest of all the bosses in runescape. Men drop like flies in trips. You are very lucky if you have no deaths in your team after 3 kills. [*:387cwuhx]Defensive armor does not count here (as I'm sure you're already aware). [*:387cwuhx]The beast seems to attack people who have just finished a special attack. I've noticed after I heard the clinking of my diamond bolt special the beast turned to me and attacked me, sometimes. [*:387cwuhx]The beast also seems to be agressive to cannon'ers at the start of the fight. I've noticed it tends to attack people owning cannons first (possibly because the cannonball is first to hit it?). [*:387cwuhx]Unlike GWD, however, the beast does not necessarily attack the first person that attacks it. [*:387cwuhx]Probably mentioned before, but ruby (e) and diamond (e) bolts are an excellent idea. [*:387cwuhx]It's best to pray magic, but from what I have observed, doesn't help that much. [*:387cwuhx]Most teams do continuous trips. The entire team does not quit after 3 or so kills, individuals leave when they must bank, and then they come back to continue the fight. There is a constant flow of people coming in and out. This is due to the convinience of the Bounty Hunter bank, only being about 130 energy away from the beast. And my inventory set up for a regular 10-20 man trip: -Several house tabs -3 saradomin brews (for the great amount of healing in one potion, and the fact that it can heal above max hp) -3 super restores -1 range potion -1 games necklace -Rest sharks or tuna potatoes And my inventory set up for a 'massacre' 30+ man trip: -Several house tabs -3 saradomin brews -4 super restores -2 range potions -1 games necklace -Rest sharks or tuna potatoes

Elixir drop (15M) on 2nd kill
I doubt it too, but I know it was one of the first. ;) The beast really is fun if you join a massacre... too bad the splits aren't anything to go crazy about. Although some of those sigils or whatever they are are worth 70M.

Elixir drop (15M) on 2nd kill
Yep, probably one of the first elixir in the game on the 2nd kill. Now my only regret was having a large team. So yes, the beast DOES drop elixirs. EDIT: 5th kill, spirit shield. 6th kill, mystic earth staff (also a speculated item)

Could be time to buy rubys?
Hmmm are you sure it's weak to stab then? In that case, no gs. :( Time to buy one of those zammy spears (which have been deamed almost useless until now, I guess). Kudos to the first guy who can put up a good guide on this boss. I'm still searching around. Drop me a link if I've missed a guide. BTW: Ruby (e)'s are taking forever to buy at max in GE.

Monday Poll: Grand Exchange Info. in Items Database
Personally I don't see a need for this function as we already have a GE price check on the main rs page that is updated every day with acurate pricing.

15 September 2008 - Summer's End
Looks like Legend's cape, it could look slightly darker because the picture is in high detail and the spirit world (if I remember) make things a bit darker on the screen. It could also be the freminnik gray cloak.

15 September 2008 - Summer's End
Level 700 beast... no problem. I've tanked against kril and he's easy if you know when to eat. ;) That interesting new equipment may be some sort of spirit wear. I'll do the quest this afternoon (already in GWD with full kc).

Best gear for zammy tank?

Tip.It Times Presents: The Plight of the Safe Spot
Not to be mean here, but isn't it part of author's job to take critism? Personally, I found the article to be quite unexciting, but that only means the author should consider a more interesting subject next time. If the author is taking this critism personally, well, I don't think he/she deserves to be a Tip.it times author. And I don't think most people have anything against Tip.it times. Most of the articles you see delivered are well thought-out interesting peices. Every once and a while you will have an article that is not so good.

RuneScape: Boom de Yada - FINISHED and Updated! (Page 6+)
The video was excellent except the audio. Perhaps you could spend a bit more time on it and really make sure it blends well and make sure all the voices are all generally on the same level. At one point I could barely hear the girl, and one guy's audio was so low all I could hear was muttering. Also, work on the timing. Sometimes it felt like the song was slowing down because voices were a second off. But other than that, great job on the scenes and everything else!

AGS=overpowered.
Whip has been proven the dominant weapon in nearly all situations except KO pking and boss fighting. Really, the whip is the overall better weapon. Just be glad it's not 150M. The specials aren't that overpowered, but they certainly are powerful. Bandos: Not much use if you're just using a gs, I would switch to a whip to finish him off once you've speced his def off. Zammy: Annoying to the frozen player but not really not useful. I dont' know about your wealth at the moment, but I can afford to barrage many more times than the special bar could ever recharge, I don't mind losing thousands a cast. I suppose it is useful to those who cannot barrage. Saradomin: Useful at first, but only for a shoot boost. I've heard it can be good at certain monsters (not bosses, regular monsters). Armadyl: Nothing to rely on. The special sounds awesome but for it to really have a good chance of hitting in PvP you would need 90+ str and 90+ attack.

Magic chest maximum gp
Sorry, I could not find this anywhere, but what is the maximum amount of gp a magic chest (in POHs) can hold?

Unchanging prices
I've always wondered why some prices have these 'bumpy' trends downward, where one day they may stay at the same price, then the next day they lower again. Can anyone explain why this happens, apposed to items that just fall in a regular downward trend with no bumps? An example: Thanks

Seriously, I think that's the most intelligent post on this topic. :D Life is tough.

The Runescape economy (9/8/08)
You really, really, can't blame all the price changes on kids going to school. It would be a really, really big coincidence, that all these items are going up, right when acidy cc (and others) decide to buy them out. Okay, you said most, but still. You underestimate the power of rumors and and panicking. It's a chain reaction. An item is low (for some reason, doesnt matter), a merchanting clan decides to buy it out. Word spreads. The item gets harder to buy. Normal people, or sole merchers detect this (they can't get it at max instantly). They jump on the train too. Tadamm. Then the dumping. Of course, even when the dump is synchronized, not everyone can dump their items. That's why the big guys secretely dump early. All the noobs hoping for an easy merch, panic, and sell theirs quickly, for min, if max or med aint selling. It's not a coinsidence... it happens every year at the end of the summer. Obviously you do not know how acidy's chat works. They are NOT the ones who control the market, trust me. About 80% of the clan is scammers, the other 10% being new merchants just getting into investing getting scammed our of their lives by the scammers (because they are new), 5% are powerfully rich merchants (such as acidy) who may also be scammers too, and the final 5% is the small, but honest group of players who don't try to scam. Dumps are never synchoronized. If you have been in acidy's chat and know how it works you'll know that they are NEVER acurate on their dump prices, it usually always gets dumped early (once again it's the scammers at work). Acidy's chat is neither organised nor trustworthy. You will find a huge lack of both, I promise you, if you just stay in it for 5 minutes. People are shouting out for others to buy random items they've screwed themselves over with and people are screaming out extremely inacurate dump prices. Anything else besides those two things is most likely just spam; "acidys a noob!" "@@@@@@@@@@@@@@" "Press 555 if you are buying pirates!" Acidy's chat is not a good manipulation chat... if you are looking for the good ones good luck. They're hard to find and usually they only invite people with 500M+, so you can easily manipulate.

Market Instability and Gameplay
Are you suggesting we stuff more limits into the GE? It's so weighed down right now with ridiculous price limits I just want to puke. If jagex puts more limits in the GE I think I might just quit the game for good. The only thing I find that gets me great money nowadays is GWDing or investing... and I would rather choose investing because of the decreasing gs prices.
-
The Runescape economy (9/8/08)
How many times do I have to explain this! Seriously... would you read some topics on the general board? I actually think this is the 6th time I've had to reply to one of these price manipulation topics. MOST of the items you now see shooting up in price are NOT a result of price manipulation, but RATHER the large amount of schoolkids recently dumping all their members items because they are returning to p2p. This causes a decline in price, then everyone starts buying them again because they are so cheap, then merchants see them shooting up, they buy a lot of them. It was not their original intension to manipulate bandos, for example. The mods will never suceed at taking down price manipulation. It's like organised crime; it's organised, for one, and the law enforcement can never be 100% sure price manipulation is going on (or if it is just a result of merchant panic, a good example being one going on right now, which I just explained above). Without hard evidence, mods cannot ban suspected manipulators, because they could just claim they were buying the item at max price just because they wanted it. All mods can do is scare people, which is the sad truth, unless they want the reputation of banning innocent people (oh wait, they already have that  ). All GE limits are just terrible... and now I can almost garantee you jagex, being the [wagon] they are, will put even more limits on the GE severly restricting the average player and beating what's left of merchanting/investing into a bloody pulp. So typical of jagex just to put more limits on things, when they should be taking them away. And I'm almost positive they're going to come up with some long and winding story about how this "stops RWT."

Monday Poll: Jagex Store
I do not like any of the new items. 61% (98 votes) Haha. I voted the flash drive... it was really the only decent item. I wish they would remove the big runescape logo and maybe just etch a sword in it, it would look so much cooler and you wouldn't be picked on at school and work. Who in their right mind would want a runescape pencil case.
