The government lost many profits on this: 1. Taxes. The taxes on the center were tremendous. 2. Business. Its not called WTC for nothing. Americas economy didnt exactly prosper from this. 3. The cleanup. This resulted in the loss of hundereds of billions of dollars. I dont think they were aiming for that.

Its sort of like my situation. I grew up, and am growing up, in a family that is Catholic. However, after arguing with myself and questioning with religion since i was 8 or so, I finally decided that i didn't believe. I had to give justifications, growing up as a Christian, to not believe. Autism is a neurological disease, but its also developmental and emotional. You may be correct in your proposition; if there was something wrong with the neurotransmitters, than there may be something wrong with other things.

Autism has absolutely nothing to do with it. People aren't smart because of autism; smart people are just usually autistic because of their mental capacity and IQ. For example: Albert Einstein, Bill Gates, etc. Case and point: The smartest kid in your school most likely doesnt brag about it, and doesnt talk at all for the most part. He is most likely autistic. Also, many "geeks" are also very intelligent. "Geeks" are also well known for their lacking social skills. Also, autism doesnt always show. The person probably had autism, but alot of times its very hard to detect.

Marajuana isnt a solution. Medical marajuana is commonly used for paitents who undergo severe pain and for rare disorders. Obviously, that quote indicates not only increased social stress, but also increased risk of suicide, along with obvious other effects to the respatory system and heart. If marajuana is really as great as you say it is, then why is it illegal? As for the Second part of your post, thats not my point either. My point is what you are saying is completely irrevelant to this discussion. You mention misplacement of developmentally challenged children and misdiagnosis. Actually, you are completely and utterly wrong with your point. My mother is employed as a teacher of k-3rd grade library. She teaches around 400 children. She also has advanced psychological knowledge. The actual case is not children being placed incorrectly, its children not being labeled as "autistic", etc. There are around 40 children in her school district with problems. Some of them are not labeled, because the parents choose to simply deny anything is wrong with their child.

Antisocial children have a much more common problem than depression; autism. Autism is very common, and its also hard to notice. Since the drugs for it have very bad side affects (agression being one of them), alot of children do not take medication for Autism. However, I dont really understand your point; why would you spank a child with a mental disorder? That makes absolutely no sense. ADHD, ADD, Autism, and Depression are all mental disorders. Spanking doesnt help at all, it makes it much worse, and could potentially lead to suicide.

Just a point I think should be brought up: Many european countries have passed laws that ban spanking. I dont really realize their argument or view that passed the law, but it must have been preety damn good. That means that there is a good possibility it may be banned here also.

Grounding is also very popular. But it only works when the child is young. Grounding around the teenage years is pointless because of a teenagers general attitude (questioning the world around you).

The more severe one. The only problem is that it diminishes character and confidence levels, and causes emotional distress. We dont want that occuring, spanking is supposed to benefit the child, not abuse them.

Yes, they are. But I believe the government was trying to somehow lessen abuse cases by passing this. They really have no other reason to pass it.

I saw this on the news. Spanking doesn't teach the child to behave, it just prevents them from misbehaving at the moment (a child psycholgist was hosted, and was talking about this). However, I dont really think it should be eliminated. There is a reason a spank is on the bottom; your bottom is so fatty and fleshy it really doesnt hurt all that much. As long as parents arent whipping their kids, I think spanking is alright. Remember, this doesnt prevent it from happening in the privacy of homes; if worse abuse is occuring, its obviously not occuring in public. Therefore, this would most likely have no effect on child abuse rates. Personally, I think we're going a bit to far on the whole "liberal" ideal. Soon children will file their own taxes.

Its actually natural for the male to be in service of the female. Look at virtually any animal. We didnt pull any of that out of our butts. But if women are begging to be equal, then I dont think that we should follow the natural law and give them extra privilages.
