Is God real post your thoughts!
I concur MorningRise, that was a much better description then I could ever give. As to BloodStain its the kind of thing, where it makes perfect sense, but not true. It makes perfect sense of how they can co exist, but there's stuff in the Bible that say otherwise.

My mom is angry at me because I laughed when Palin said that when she voted on Tues. she knew she was the first VP as a woman. My mom goes ' don't mock her for believing!' I'm like 'whatever.' I still hate Obama, and am pro McCain, but am getting more and more apthetic every day. :-k

Barack Obama is the 44th President of the United States
He is not a socialist, he is fundamentally a capitalist. I can't be bothered going over this again. First I understand what you are talking about with all governments having a form of this taxation but Obama is advocating it as a very good thing in this country. I am not saying he is socialist, but I am saying that Idea is the main idea of socialism. I have read the "Communist Manefesto" and that is the main reason Marx wrote it (NOTE: The "Communist Manefesto" does not talk about Communism it is the idea a Socialism what Russia did to it is Communism.). He believed that in an utopian society wealth was to be taken from the rich and distrubted among everyone so that no one was rich or poor. This redistribution of wealth is what Obama ment by his wanting to "tax the rich" and give to the poorer people of America. This is completely OT but remember: Robin Hood was good and all, but he was still a thief. ;) And YoMyth, I think McCain was right about picking Palin. He obviously sucks at home affairs, and whether you agree with Palin or not, she is strong in that issue for her party. But YoMyth just know, it's a win-win for Republcians 1) Obama is as awful as we predict - so awful, our next few presidents are Republican. 2) We are wrong, and Obama turns out to be an awesome President. That's still good for us. Hehe.

In your opinion. There is a massive problem with highlighting morality as only being one-dimensional. Let's take two issues: Abortion - you perceive it as murder. I perceive it a freedom of choice for woman to dictate what happens to their own body. Two views on the same issue. Capital punishment - you perceive it was justified because the punishment is equal to the crime, the ultimate acceptance, if you will. I perceive is an unneeded death, and that killing any born human is wrong. Two views on the same issue. That's your problem in defending or attacking something only on "moral" grounds, and it's also the problem with proclaiming to be the defender of certain morals. No matter how convinced you are that your perception of morals is the correct one, I am also equally as resolute in mine, and moreover, we both have the right to hold those opinions. Morality is subjective, therefore unless there is a clear consensus (such as with murder, theft etc.), you cannot apply a moral onto an entire populace. Those morals are not applicable to everyone, and indeed, we go on to a greater issue - is it right to force morals onto people even if they don't happen to believe in those morals? Surely the answer to that question, in the country which prides itself on freedom, is 'no'. That's basically what I was trying to say... And as to Utopian, it's obvious no one read the link I gave. Which is why I never post them, and then when people ask why I don't post them...

First off, let me say that this is my OPINION, feel free to think differently. But, yes, obviously I think Christianity holds good moral standards, otherwise I wouldn't believe in it. But, I believe that Islam does not, with things like Sharia Law (sp?) and killing the 'infidels.' But, that's just my opinion, and yes, I'm singling Islam out, I don't know enough about Hinduism or Buddhism to make claims. But also, you say no to Creationism in schools, I say no to Evolution, which is why I think schools altogether should drop it. Maybe have the teacher say "and so, go home and ask your parents how the world started" or someting along the lines of that.

I concur. However, I've seen him give speeches, and he really isn't that great, IMO. (He came to give a speech a mile from my house) He just sounds like everyone else, so I don't know what people see in him.

Morality can be defined by society, but also by religion. And it's very hard to change someone's morals. And the last sentence is an Atheistic view, but also, don't Lions eat lesser animals? What rights do they have (from your point of view) to end that lesser animals rights? They most likely could eat vegetables also, but instead they eat the poor innocent limping gazelle who can't keep up with the herd. Here's a fact: (not to be harsh) but 'upper' animals could care less about 'lower' animals, it's food they eat it. In this way, I guess you could say we're gracious, in that we also eat vegetables. But from a religious view, it's ok for us to eat them.

I'm not saying each of those phrases are pointed towards the greedy, nor is anyone saying Obama would make the wealthy give all their money to the poor. There are plenty more references to helping the poor in the Bible, have your pick of them. I was merely providing proof that the Bible is about spreading the wealth and helping the less fortunate. It's all about extent, then. Yes, to some extent you should donate to the poor, and help out the less fortunate, no one is denying that. What I, and many other Christians think, is that you should earn your pay, not get it handed to you.

Not necessarily, like I believe Capital Punishment is bad. But morally it's right. I don't like it because I believe it's an easy way out. Now, that's just one example. Now Utopian: Let me ask you this, do you believe everything you believe in is morally right? Most people do, I do not know anyone who is amoral, in their own eyes, and proud.

Yea, I know. It is sad, that other parts of cities get less funding. I'm just trying to say, it is possible, no one is doomed to be poor. I mean, maybe some, but in that case it wouldn't be their fault, like 20 year old, who has cancer, and a quadraplegic (sp?) not much you can do there, no offence. Lordjake, Jesus said that to the man about selling his posessions, because they meant EVERYTHING to him. It was about a test of faith. And there are ways of helping the poor without giving all your money to them. And some of those verses are out of context, and are about not being greedy.

Here's a sad fact, everyone starts out with equal opportunity, but may make choices that erases it. Such as, a white male rich student, will have all the money he needs for college, to succeed. But, an african american from the ghetto who also wants to succeed, can get many scholarships, simply because they're black, and trying to work hard to erase the circumstances they are born with. I look at my friend, she lives in the 'ghetto' of VA Beach, now I doubt any other city would consider it a ghetto, but I do. And her mom is extremely poor, and uneducated, simply because she was raped and so my friend is a rape baby. Thus the mom had to drop all of her plans, in this way, I can see how her opportunity is erased. BUT, my friend, is winning scholarships left and right, simply because she is smart, and she works very hard. And even though she was born with the idea she will get nowhere because of who she is, I imagine she'll be very influential. But, you ahve to realize, socialism, communism, marxism, whatever, KILLS human creativity. Also, (I know most of you are Atheists, but any Christians who voted for Obama, listen to this) the Bible says you reap what you sow, this can be seen condescendinly, but also, not. If you sow 100 seeds, you should and will, in one way or another get the value of 100 seeds back, maybe not all monetary, but in some form. The Bible doesn't say, that if you sow 50 seeds and you're friend sows 100 you each get 75 to be fair, that in no way is Biblical. I know I went off in a tangent, but I'm just putting it out there.

[hide=] You're morally deprived. Who knows, maybe in 50 years, husbands can kill their wives, because they got into a fight with them. Who knows, maybe in 50 years, America will be worse off than most countries. Who knows, maybe in 50 years, Religion will be banned. All I can say is, if we stay the course, in 50 years, I won't be proud of anything. The fact is, Obama is an Atheistic morally deprived President Elect. You really do just make nonsense up as you go along dont you? [/hide] Yea, I made that up, I doubt it'll be that bad, but it's about setting principles, and having a good moral standard. And at Megakillr, I realize religion is a choice, but I also realize that some religions set good moral standards, while others don't. And, in my opinion, abortion does not constitute good moral boundaries.

No, but a vast majority were already born privileged. I came from an average family...slightly higher than average actually (dad makes $80,000 atm but he's a Federal employee). I am working for it, but you have to remember that I was still given opportunities that the average American is not. The average household in America makes $45,000 a year, and I'd say it's a lot lower than that simply because of the richest 5% owning more than HALF of the wealth, and 20% own over 80% of the wealth. So really, just because Bill Gates walks into a bar, not everyone is a millionaire simply because he makes billions to average everyone else out. I hope you understand what I meant by that. However, I was privileged. I didn't have to drop out of high school, and get a job, just to help my parents pay the bills. I didn't get a teenage woman pregnant, while not having received proper sexual education to know about the consequences. I didn't grow up in poverty. I didn't go to a [cabbage] high school. I was given many opportunities that I didn't work for, that many others are not given. And even I am struggling. Obama wants to raise the tax rates to LESS than that of Clinton. How is that out of hand? We had a surplus during the Clinton years, and there was a less wage gap. America currently has wage gaps worse than countries like Kenya, according to the United Nations (at least that's what we're approaching). Don't you see a problem here? The thing is, as hard as some people might work and try, it doesn't guarantee prosperity. That is the lie that is the American Dream: few live it. I'm not saying it's impossible to stay poor, but it usually is. Poor people are generally poor, because they made bad decisions, I'm not saying they were risky, but generall bad. But I wonder, how do so many poor people rise up to be rich? Simple, the gap is less existant then you guys would like to realize. I mean, it would take a lot of hard work, but it's been done before.
