Concerning DroolMAN...
I apologize for coming off like I was offended - I wasn't in the least. Didn't expect there to be a J2EE player in the house! Wanna discuss session, message, and entity beans? :P

Concerning DroolMAN...
bre, you should realize that I wasn't speaking application layer, but network layer. What I said is correct for that layer.

Concerning DroolMAN...
Yeah, Y2, that'll be your local DHCP organized addresses. :) You're right - we shouldn't be penalized for having multiple addicts at one IP. I'm glad I'm the only one who plays here, but that doesn't stop me from feeling outraged at droolman's banning.

Frequency of blood drops
Some folks just don't seem to understand probability. First - selection with replacement. Yeah, you pick a yellow bead, but you put it back. There are still 10,000 yellow and 50 red at the end of each round of picking. Therefore - independent events. Your 10,000,000th drop from fire giants is just as likely to be a dragon medium as your first. However - you can calculate probability over a series of events. Say you kill dust devils 10,000 times, and the drop rate is 1:10,000 for chain. Your chance of NOT getting the chain is: .9999 (first kill) * .9999 (second kill).... *.9999 10k'th kill (.9999)^10000 .368 So, there's a 36.8% chance that 10k kills won't result in a chain drop. That is, if we simulate an infinite list of 10k kills, a dragon chain will appear in about 63.2% of those. Also, you might kill 10,000,000 dust devils without a drop. The chances of this are low (4.8E-435, VERY tiny number), but it could happen.

Concerning DroolMAN...
I know this isn't on topic, but I have to say something. This is wrong. A router represents a single IP. That's what a router does - it acts as a switching yard to other networks, while acting as the gatekeeper to the local network. Your router has one IP address. Jagex only sees that one IP. Where you're not wrong is that Jagex can distinguish between machines behind a router, with a little work. NAT (network address translation), the protocol that makes routers work, puts a distinguishing mark on the TCP/IP packets that it sends, so that when a reply packet comes, the router knows which local machine to pass it to. This marker is in the HOST port field of the packet. So, it's not the IP address, that's different, but the source port. A little "who cares anyways" information for you. :D

highscores 200 mil
200m is strange to me, too. You'd think they'd be using a 32 bit int to store the xp in the database, as normal. But that maxes out at 4.29 billion, not 200 million. 200m is nowhere near a power of 2 - the closest is 2.0E28.

Tip.It Times Presents: English: Its Proper Form
Thank you. Let me tell you - I see people using shortcuts and text talk and 'leet speak' and immediately my opinion of them goes down. The arguments you make are devalued. In fact, I often skip them. Just so you know, I've never, ever, seen a self-respecting programmer (professional) use 'leet speak' outside of a joke - and I work with them on a daily basis. It's something kids do because they think it makes them look cool. If you want to be really cool, use correct grammar. That is counterculture. Being lazy and butchering English is conforming to the standard for teens. Now, I don't have that big of a problem with grammar and spelling issues, if they aren't intentional. I think the kids who go around pointing out the incorrect use of the subjunctive are just attention seekers, too.

Super Energy?
Thanks, just making sure they didn't sneak in the update on us. You're welcome to close/delete this.

Super Energy?
I got 15 super energy (4) from a clue today. I've never gotten these before. Is this new? I didn't even think of getting a pic.

An NPC...that can RUN
Now this is a great idea. Make it like Morrowind - mess with one, get the whole group kicking your tail.

Esoteric Hidden Update
Highscores has a new look. For all of us who have created calculators that access highscores, this is a problem. The calcs break. Here is the new URL: http://hiscore-web.runescape.com/lang/en/aff/windowsclient/compare.ws?user1= Also, be aware that "Runecrafting" has been changed to "Runecraft" in the highscores. Make sure to change your string comparison to catch this.

Shark Cooking
Your numbers seem to agree with mine. Also, Nuke Marine did the same thing, and the numbers line up there, too.

Older Players
I'm 23 and male, and I've been a gamer since my atari in K5. I cut my teeth on Pitfall and Yars and that horrid ET game. That's 18 years of gaming. Not as many as some of you, but I've done my time. :) I'll always be a gamer. My job in college and grad school was to monitor a computer lab. I had tons of time to browse the internet. My real life best friend (herself over 30) told me about RS, and I was hooked from the start. Now, I'm waiting for my job to start (just a few weeks, programming for the USAF), and so I have lots of time to burn. And yeah, I don't do combat that much. That's why I'm 84cb and 1537 total (82+ herblore).

Extensive suggestion/guide: How to detect and stop auto-ers
Problem. Jagex is not God. What TS fails to recognize is this simple fact. If 'report them all and let Jagex sort it out' actually worked, there would be no autobots. Plain and simple. Because if there was a foolproof method, Jagex would run it all the time and not just on reports. So reporting everyone is just going to result in innocents being banned. That's unacceptable.

What Is Your Money Maker?
Herblore. I can gather the materials for 100 super weapon poisons and make them in about 60 min (not counting berries) and sell for 1.5-2m. I can only do this every other day, as it takes that long to pick enough berries and coconuts. Once I don't have to drink a Greenman's to make them, it'll be much faster.

A Bank to sell items ?
Crops grow while you're logged out. At high levels, that means making serious cash. Maybe if you want to run the shop while you're not logged in, you'll have to hire a shopkeeper... and maybe guards to ensure no one steals your stuff.

Then we are in agreement. My 17k lobsters are done... now to AFK fish. I mean, read books while moving the mouse around every 20 seconds. :P

Extensive suggestion/guide: How to detect and stop auto-ers
No one has 'established' that reading the forums while playing is against the rules. You've just got that set in your mind. What is against the rules is setting something on the keyboard so you can leave the room/house/country and still be playing. I've cooked 26k lobsters this past few weeks, and I've read the forums the whole time. I start the load on the fire, then read until it gets about half done. Then I switch the window focus to the RS window, and then back to the forums until the load of lobsters is done. You cannot honestly tell me that you consider that activity cheating.
