Combat as a percent of total XP - now with data and charts!
XP 1) 45,062,230 2) 9,938,556 3) .2205 - 22% LEVELS 1) 1584 2) 500! 3) .315 - 31.5% This tells me that I have a few high noncombats that make up a lot of my total xp. This is true - cooking and fletching. COMBAT 1) 1584 2) 86 3) 18.41 levels per combat level

Looks like a lot of people are surprised at how they stack up. It's amazing how fast combat XP can take over. Considering it's what, 1/3 of the total skills? Yep, 7 of 21. Misplaced is by far the lowest, so far. I'm next. :P I've got you beat on total though, Misplaced. :D

Buzz off, and stop being so cynical.

I only meant that the metric for seeing if you were combat heavy or skills heavy is imprecise. :) By the way - very nice, misplaced. My 80 range and 88 mage, while keeping my combat low, push me up quite a bit.

Same here - but it gives you combat levels (or can), so I included it.

Misplaced - I thought so. You put noncombat xp as combat xp. :P

I could easily do a PHP script to calculate this, but... Looks like 40-45% is about average so far?

Misplaced, I think something's wrong. From how I look at it, 11% of you total xp is NOT combat.

I thought about slayer, but really slayer doesn't count. If you think about it, it's already counted in HP and in your combat xp. No need to count something twice.

Green Dragons, Ectofuntus, and the Elusive Prayer Bonus
Awesome awesome awesome. I love it. Way to go. :D Nice to see some intelligence here at Tipit. It is usually very lacking.

Combat as a percent of total XP - now with data and charts!
I had a thought while discussing a topic on the Rants forum. What, I wondered, is the normal distribution of a players experience (and thus their time)? That is, how much xp and levels do you have in total, and how much of that is combat? So, I came up with a little metric - not very accurate, but quite telling. 1) Find your total XP 2) Find your total combat XP (range hp magic attack defense strength prayer) 3) Divide 2 by 1 Here's an example, using my stats. 1) 45,062,230 2) 9,938,556 3) .2205 - 22% I'm a skiller, so I'm sure this 22% is low. Anyone else care to post? I'd love to get an idea of the average, even if we only have a few samples. Collected Data Count 132 Mean 52.2388% Median 51.0050% Stddev 19.2681% Note: Last data introduced a bit more skew to combat-heavy players. Scores rounded to one decimal place Scores rounded to two decimal places

What was your stew spice combination?
3 of each. The worst possible. Took forever to make that much stew!

Requirements of "dragon gloves"?
I expect that under 100 combat can do it. I am at the last subquest and I'm only 86 combat. I expect I'll finish tomorrow.

Balancing weapons (formerly "useless weapons")
I'd actually think the longbow would be better to put a shaft right through plate. Shortbows are good for snap shots at close distance, without too much power. You just can't get the draw weight or length out of a short piece of wood without snapping it. A historical longbow with a draw length of 28in and weight 100lb+ could put a bodkin through plate, under the right circumstances. In the end, though, tests show that plate stops the vast majority of arrows, unless they hit a joint or an unprotected spot.

Chaos Gauntlets big plus at barrows?
You had me until the 17 bit. Max hit of Fire Bolt is 15, IIRC.

Balancing weapons (formerly "useless weapons")
Very good point. The same is similar in P2P - you see longs, daggers, and scimitars in the wild, predominantly. Well, at least that's what I've been attacked with. :P

Fun ways to mess with PKer's
I had a spot of fun the other evening 3 iteming at the abyss. The mage pkers with their 71 mage would see me and start casting ancients, and then I'd open up with the crystal bow. I ran two of them off, using no food. Almost got the kill on one, but you know he had to teleport. :P

I Will Help You If I Can: Combatting the Greed Factor
I love it that there are educated folks here. I must say I'm not a philosopher, but I can follow what's going on. I must say that I didn't have Lim pegged as a Randian. Self interest as the ultimate morality? Ehhh, not for my taste. :)

Anyone have strategies for the mole? Attack style, use of prayer, safe spots, etc? Also, do you think it's possible to solo? I'd like to try it in a few days once all the hubub has died down. I need tons of nests! :)
