  3. and i suppose you are the arbiter of what is modernisationa nd basterdisation? You only go to show the conservative nature of those who have a fixed view of the Engilsh language Yes actually. There is a correct form of english. And in everything there is a correct and perfect form. Do not try to rationalize incorrectness by saying it is the norm. Do not try to say that all things are relative: All things are absolute. The Laws of the Universe do not equivocate. For a practical example, observe the National Academy in France-it actively and continually fights degradation of language. i'm sorry but that is the most patently inaccurate thing ever. The world is not black and white, duties do conflict, deontology fails, and EVERYTHING is realtive Deontology? Dunno what that is . Not everything is relative. Notice in the theory of relativity. Things seem relative, but the important things (I.E., causality), all frames of reference MUST agree. The world is black and white. There is always a best course of action. If everything was relative, things would lose their meaning. Take care, and beware, so that you don't lose sight of the absolute while seeing the mundane. By suggesting that things would lose thier meaning, you presuppose an exisiting current meaning. I would dissagree on this point, in that there is no meaning (not a belief you have to share). Defining good without relation to evil is impossible, defining up with no refernce to down is impossible. There is never a best course of action because all courses lead no where - there is a relativly good course of action, and that is debateable, in relation to other courses of action which may have been, from a given perspective, worse. Scientific theory supposes a shared basic fact on which all frames of reference must agree, yet, as the philosopher DesCartes said, "I think, therefore I am", later refined to "there are thoughts" by Bertrand-Russel. This is perhaps the only absolute, in realtion to a certain definition of thoughts.

  6. I read the Tip.It times for this month for the first time today, and was astounded by the arrogant pomposity of it. Firstly, he suggests that those people who abbreviate words are "slavering monkeys" or something to that effect. This is patently a Ridiculous statement - are we to say that regional dialects are somehow inferior? Does speaking the QE (oh dear...I just abbrv.), that is Queen's English make you superior to others? No, this is clearly not so. Abrreviation is part of the on going evolution of the English language - 100 yrs (oh dear - another one) ago "cool" simply meant cold, yet it is common parlence today. Do you complain about "Can't" because i do not write "can not"? This illustrates my argument perfectly - perhaps the aouthor derives some comfort in his apparent "superiority" over those lesser life forms who use any form of English that may be classed as modern? Secondly, we come to the idea of a simple communicative problem - the "younger generation" - as he put it - seem fine with internet slang and abbrv., it is, infact, the "older generation" that are inflexible in thier understanding of the English language - they will not let it evolve, or change, but shackle it down to what they know and are comfortable with - they would have us still saying "art thou" rather than "are you". It is simple - the older generation must learn to adapt. Furthermore, if we are on the topic of communication, recent studies have shown that i am albe to wirte lkie tihs, and poelpe are slitl albe to udnretsnad. Communication is not a problem for those who have an able grasp of the English language, it is only a problem for those with antiquated views and draconian beliefs.
  7. acording to jagex, if u actualy make a full dragon sq, they u drop the value of the right half (right half costs 750k, full shield sells for 200k, suggesting 400k sell value). *? Name: Dragon sq shield (See also: 1188) | ID: 1187 | Examine: An ancient and powerful looking Dragon Square shield. | Info: Non Stackable - P2P | Sell: [HiAlch] 300,000gp [LowAlch/GenStore] 200,000gp | Buy: [specShop] 500,000gp [GenStore] 625,000gp compared to the right half, which costs 750k. So i'm right, making the full sq devalues the right half apparently
  8. acording to jagex, if u actualy make a full dragon sq, they u drop the value of the right half (right half costs 750k, full shield sells for 200k, suggesting 400k sell value). wtf?
  9. so that noobs can deliberatley blow it up in your face in an attempt to kill you? why yes! what a good plan...
  10. a nice idea, but completly removes any fear of death. The whole thing about dying is that you lose items, or it is not a threat.
  11. i was in the thazzar fite pits (just trainign for fun), and some randomer pms me (i had my priv. chat on because i had just been forum trading). He demands my pw or i ban him. i told him to shut up and put him on ignore. It was just funny that he went thro a list (prob hi scores) and just pmed anyone who had priv chat on.
  12. thats the ultimate way to start a flame war.
  13. right so u say it's a status symbol, then say that it should be available for 500k!!??? are you so stupid that you don't actualy read my whole post before you post? it says full helm, pl8, pl8 legs and kite...those are the items that should be available cheaper - the chain, med, d sq and "purple legs" should be kept as droppable only.
  14. It really boils down to intent. If players are using names like that in order to scam others, then the name itself is part of the cheating attempt. intent is currently unimportant as it is undiviniable. There may be some method of changing thier names (although this would be very hard when you think of all the things related to thier name (such as friend lists ect.). Primarily there should be a warning for new players that such names are unacceptable, and a block on names simmilar to that (this name is unavailable ect.). Existing players present a different problem - one cannot eradicate them for a name which would have been perfectly legitimate at the time of the account's creation, nor can we allow existing players to continue using thier unreportable names as tools to aid thier dulpicity. There is only one viable solution as i see it - which is to forcefully change thier names - simply remove the o0o0o0o's from thier name, or allow the player to chose a new one. Then everyone who has that player added, and everyone he has added should recieve a personal messgae from jagex informing them of the change and the new name, thus making it official - preventing people from aquiring the trust placed in thier old names by assuming thier identity falsely.
  15. the whole point is that dragon is a STATUS SYMBOL. the armor does not have to be the best - d chain only shows off the fact that you have cash. I think that the full dragon (ie. fullhelm, pl8, pl8 legs, kite) should be available from a shop at a price of lets say 500k for the whole set. Keep the status symbol chain and med ect. and the pl8 would be for lvl 60 defence players - it seems odd that there is no armor available at the lvl bracket that isnt out of the reach of most players with that def lvl. Keep chain and med ect. as status symbols - only attained by drops (make the old plate legs purple, along with d chain, d med and d sq) so as not to ruin the economy established - the "purple" dragon set would be worth way more, and provide that staus symbol, and the full dragon would allow lvl 60 def people to get an appropriate armor for thier lvl.
  16. Did you get 3 day ban for saying mastication? realy? lol! What disgusting language - i don't think it is appropriate to talk about grinding food with teeth infront of children...Ban chewing the cud in public places! Kill all cows and cammels... :D
  17. Did you get 3 day ban for saying mastication? oops double post
  18. seeing as you were using correct english all the way through, i just wanted u to suggest that you change it to Renowned which fits gramaticaly. Not critisising - sure it's just a typo
  19. you can't believe everything that is on wikipedia, and you certainly can't assume that the chinese were the first people to invent it, note that the western civilization was oblivious to the the eastern civilization until Marco Polo explored that area. the islamic civilisation made contact with the chinese before the first crusade (in the 12th century), where they may have found that crossbow. Then the crusade and the islamic settlment in corduba could easily have exposed the information to the europeans. i'm not saying this is true, however it is completely possible either it is possible or it is impossible and we do not know anything until we ask a professional historian, the internet is quite deceiving sometimes. no, i know the islamic civisation made contact with the chinese in the 12th century, and i know they had a settlemnt in corduba - what i meant was that i don;t know if this is the way it happened - this is just a way it could have happened

  21. compare the sword "slender blade" with the sword held by the oriental looking guy in port phasmis docks
  22. very good turn around! however why don't u do what i do - bank everything worth more than 50k before u logg off?
  23. i mostly agree with you apart from this point. I think that you should have to work to be able to do the barrows and other things like that. The barrows can provide great rewards and the timeyou invest more than pays it back - it should be a reward not a right.
  24. erm, account sharing is against the rules, I wouldn't admit to it... hehe, amazing how many ppl do that  yea - it's almost as if it didn't matter and no one gave a dam about it.
