  1. Yes I estimate a total drop in inflation by about 1%...maybe less. Let me tell you when i was training mage (and loads of people are training mage through alching) i was alching around 7k yew longs a day, brining 5376000gp into the rs world chaque jour. So lets say 75k goes out, there is still 5.4m (to nrst 100k) coming in. Pop up to edgy on almost any world, or seers, and you will find groups of alchers, all alching constantly. The outgoings of money do not equal the income, in anyshape or form. If i bunged 3m in the chest, and then go off and train mage for a day, on average i would still by brining 5301000 gp into the ecnomy every day. So, the reduction in my input to inflation would be 1.3950893%, or 1.4% to 1dp. Now...the number of people who will put money into the chest is likley to be relativley small, in comparisson to the veritable hordes of alchers. SO I would say on average, a 1% drop in inflation. So, yes, you are right, inflation would decrease, but not by much. I would realy love to get some estimates on the total inflation or the rs economy per day on average, but no one knows how much money there is to start with - I mean even selling things to a shop creates inflation. Now lets fact this into the equation: Rebdragon here is empahsising the multiple value. Now, mage traininers are so common, so lets meet his estimate on loss with these multiples. now production of 5376000gp per day. Multiplied by around 10,000 members, (less than 10% of the entire rs population), we are looking at around 53760000000gp being itroduced chaque jour, that's compared to reb dragons estimate of 750000000 per day. for comparison perposes i will put them in a line: 53760000000 75000000 so the alching income is still 100 times greater than the outgoings. However, reb may be right on certain points - my estimate of 7000 yew longs a day is likley to be above average. However, and this cannont be proven, I think my estimate for the number of mage trainers was very conservative - 10% of the member popluation is quite a small number for the sheer volume of mage trainers we see everyday. Moreover, I think it's highly unlikley a great number of people will do the quest, and if the have, will use the chest - the rewards contain alot of "fluff" especialy when it come to seeds and herbs, and the quest has some reasonably high requirments, and we must factor in the quest-o-phobia experienced by so much of the rs population. Factor in the large amount of money that come from all those F2Pers selling things like willow logs ect to shops, and the percentage reduction is further reducued. Therefore it seems highly, highley unlikley that there will be any dramatic reduction in inflation in this manner. Now for the final part: where do all these resources end up going? With logs the most common use is probably fletching - and maples either get alched or sold to a shop (both of these methods intoroduce extra money into the runescape economy). ores get smithed into plates that may get alched or sold to shops (obvioulsy this is not true for all plates - and some logs may be used to train firemaking too). The point is, that alot of these things will aid and abet the rising inflation problem. en conclusio inflation cannot be sloved by these means at all, and we are probably not looking at a total drop in inflation that exceedes 1% by much.
  2. Slayer is a method of making money. What they should od is put drop rates up. What they shouldn't do is put another slayer drop weapon that is better than whip. A weapon which either made by a player skill, and is untradeable (meaning everyone has to work for it, not get lucky on staking or get given it by a friend). Or a weapon accesible through a mini-game or quest, something which taxes ability not "I hit fire giants constantly for 6 months, gimme free stuff...", that shows dedication, sure, but no real skill.
  3. i pked with 70 mage (and ancients) and 70 ranged (with msb and rune arrows) on my pure (at lvl 49 combat). You can't get a KO in low level wildy with mage unless they wasted all thier food. However, with range I just freezed them to hold em down, then ranged them a lil, the bang in a quick ranged spec, KOed ftw. Doesnt work the same with mage at all.
  4. 10 ice barrages...thats: 1.2k in bloods per spell (2 x 600) 1.2k in deaths per spell (4 x 300) 120 gp in waters per spell (6 x 20) so thats 2.5k per spell (2520 gp) so if he cast 10 spells he wasted 25k (25200 gp) on you. Ice Barrage is so goddam expensive!
  5. teak and mahoganny are both luxury woods, used for veneers and very expensive furniture. The trees are increasingly hard to find, and deforestation of them requires the destruction of about 7 surrounding trees to acces it. They are mostly found within dense rain forest, and therefore are hard and expensive to extract. The trees are worth so much that illegal "tree poachers" cut them down without a warrant, and in an unconservatory way. They also look pretty when carved into a arse rest. (that's a chair for most people)
  6. a longbow...well it doesn't have a magazine but it does have the rest much, much more powerful - punches straight through plate-mail armor (i've seen it being demoed). (this is than the ch-ko-nu btw, not the european crossbow) Much, much further reach - the cho-ko-nu crossbow was very short ranged And very fast - a good archer (it was a legal requiremnt that all men of able body over the age of 14 trained for 2 or 3 hours every sunday at the archery buts in England, so they were quite good) could fire around 18 arrows a minitue. Yet they are so rubbish in the game! Why?!
  7. this is what he walked away with - it's after his final stake according to him. He banked bloods when he got low, but the rest of his invent is his staking profit the pics are not in any order - thats why it looks like he loses alot more than he does. he does lose those masks i think though
  8. dont forget mages dont have special attacks, rnage has mage shorts and long, melle have all drag weps, mages have none *stiring it up is fun  * *kuch* no specials? So you say magic cannot -stop someone from moving (etangle and frozen) -leech off life to heal yourself (blood spells) -Cannot decrease the enemies stats (curse etc) -Do not save lifes and items (teleports) -Are able to stop anyone from teleporting (teleblock) Ontopic: Combination prayers are a bad idea, unless the enemy has smite, you really have no chance to pk someone, because only half the damage is done by all types of attacks. I think they are mage and range boosters when exactly did i say that mages couldnt do those things? when i said spec i meant something extra that could be used on any spell, like a special staff that would use the spell twice but only use the runes for one cast (like a drag dagger spec), yes mages have all those things, but carrying the rune needed for them all would take up 2 rows, anyway this topic is about prayers not specs I promised not to rant so..allthough I'm itching to say things like you still can't get a goddam quick KO, even with all that stuff, and ur max damage is still 30 in any one hit (smaller than any other fighting stat - melee is liek 92 and range is about 48 (that's with specs). I won't and i'll just agree with you
  9. mini games got my vote - but i realy like the idea of a non-tradeable weapon that requires a high skill level to get - bringing skilling to a use in the wildy. A cool bow you can make at lvl 90 fletch that is more high powered than mage and faster than crystal would be wicked. However mini games keep the prices of the items reasonably high for quite a while, and means you have to exert some effort into getting it - either by money making or doing the game, rather than being able to buy it cheap
  10. The range special attack is absolutely rubbish these days, you can't even get two from a full special bar. If they add a Mage Special, it will probably be the same as the Magic Shortbow special attack (well, using over 1/2 of the special bar). ~Jimmie range spec is nice for a ko. Get 'em low hit a nice double 20 or someting and ko ftw. I would like the cnahce to be able to ko with mage, rather than just using runes until they lag or run out of food. another annoyance...range hits through mage armor, but badly against melee, mage hits thro melee armor, but badly against mage, melee hits through everything like a hot knife through butter apart from other melee armors. At the moment the only sensible tactic if a mage wants to live without armor switching is protect prayer. Everyone hates u for it, but it does stop those realy nasty three hit ko's. I want the chance to double cast barrage or summat, and have the chance of hitting a 60 for a ko. o wait... nooo.... *slaps himself* must stop ranting! ow...my head... hitting a 60 while freezing them  that would totally put 94+ mage at the top of the food chain, especially in deep wild where there is no need to tele block, 94 mage would be even more desiarable then it is now ya but it would be a one hit wonder...like it would use the whole spec bar for one hit. So sure u can rattle of one 60 + 20 secs of freezage, but meleer mage hybrids can stil barrage + spec or blitz+spec for 30+37+37 - the massive (if rare) 1 hit KO, and even if they dont get the 1 hit in, they still have those 20 secs of freezage too. But IMO thats allowed - they have good mage and str, whereas I only have ok mage - the extra power they get is deserved in that respect. Nah mage would stay pretty equal, if not still underpowered as a combat form in it's own right.

  12. oops double post
  13. If you dont belive me take a look at the player vs player board
  14. dont forget mages dont have special attacks, rnage has mage shorts and long, melle have all drag weps, mages have none *stiring it up is fun  * Lol i agree with that too. No matter what JaGeX say mage is a peripheral skill, used to hold people still whilst you melee or range them. It is not a combat form in it's own right once you get past lvl 85cb. And i promised i would stop so i probably should :(
  15. ^^ um yea...its kinda massive. ANd the pot thing is so true. I had a hell of a time buying mage pots, and they're like 5k ea per 3 dose. Mages use prayer too so all my pots are way more expensive than meleers, + add the price of the runes i use even if i dont get a kill + unless ur taking melee barrows armor and whips into wildy mage amor is about as expensive to lose as melee armor. The number of times i've seen magers get 3 hitted by overpowerd meleers potting massivley to 111 str + 15% extra from prayer, they are looking at about 37's with dd(s) spec and all the str bonuses, meaning they can hit about 296 hit points of one spec bar at max. Now i'm not begrudging them that, i just want to know why the hell I cant hit 30+ with mage, when a comparitvley low powered meleer can score massivley with one. :D And this is tunring into my little rant so I'll stay ontopic from now on :)
  16. it is possible to make around 100m an hour in profit. You do need a large dose of luck and some realy good stats. Then go to al kharid duel arena world 2...stake away.
  17. you want somehitng to help mage and range then, yes its a good idea, but that would be bad for pures, no pure would get 55 and 58 (thats the levels i assume these will require) just for a 10% increase to the skills, but high lvl players with anchients will love it if it is, ice barage with extra help, thats atleast a 9.4 level equivilant increase minimum, thats better than a mage pot ya. The whole point is that it gives unpures an advantage, allowing normal stats people to have a chance against pures. et en plus it is realy annoying for me - being a mager - that meleers get such a massive bonus to thier str from pots and pray, when mage and range only get pots.
  18. yes. I helped a friend do it. Firtsly walk to the arena with nothing as there is a bnk inside the area. You can kill kolidon without having to risk any items. When you want to charge the staff, flip to a world that has a middle number of plyrs - mb pkers tend to only pk on either realy low populated worlds or realy high. Send you frined out with just dd(s). He pops out, checks for pkers, if there is one turns on protect item and specs them whilst u run to arena.
  19. an accuracy prayer for ranged or mage would help, or a prayer that can boost the power of the hits for ranged or mage - like the ultimate str prayer, but for ranged or mage.
  20. wildy is for pking. If you train in the wildy, u risk getting pked. SImple facts. trainer pkers make the wildy rewards - green d hides, d bones, rune ore ect - valuable. If you didnt have to risk to get it, and if it wasnt so far from a bank they would be much cheaper, especialy when you think how easy green drags are to kill.
  21. range ahrim...(use a range pot u save 1 dose of p pot and p pot is more expensive per dose) mage everyone else. Yes even with 59 mage you should mage them all - i did my first trip only being able to cast earth blast, and got guthan helm if you are gunna melee then use veraks. This saves on runes but the armor degrades and i find i'm faster than people in veraks 20 lvls higher than me as i use mage. addy arrows are fine for ahirm. Other option is dd(s) spec then hide behind the coffin and wait for him to die of poison. Or use crystal bow for fast ko. bring melee armor and a d scim or whip so you can kill tunnel monsters. I get my Kill Count to 20 (or around that) every time. The kill count does not effect the chance of you getting armor, but the bloods, deaths and chaos easily pay for the p pots by themselves if you get this.
  22. not if you want to burn shades. You need multiple sacred oils to have a chance of getting any fine cloth.
  23. beautifuly pharsed as to be ambiguos whilst suggesting action
  24. i've had mazes with empty and full invents. U can't get the box with a full invent tho
