Not bad.. I think you should try something more interesting than the angular abstract you've got going.. Also, I like the colors, but they don't go well with the whole, abstract techish theme..

Yeah, but to most people, art has to be something that's at least mildly pleasing to the eye. To be at least mildly pleasing to the eye, you have to have at least a vague sense of form, color, balance, ect.. What I was saying is that a lot of the filterpile references make it seem obvious that the person making them doesn't even have any idea what those things are.

An opinion isn't a statement or rule, or anything that can be defined as right and wrong. It's a feeling. Therefore, it can't be wrong. Its only wrong or right in the person's who are having that opinion. Way to not recognize sarcasm. Did I say that knowing about art required a degree, or a course? You can be born with an intuitive sense of color, balance, ect..

You can't learn everything from a tutorial. For some reason people don't seem to grasp that art cannot be acheived through a formula.

That really depends, just expiriment until you get something that you think looks right.

Well, if you know how to shade with a pencil, or paints, or whatever in real life, as long as you have at least a basic understanding of the program, shading isn't hard.

Tainted Hero, no offense, but when you don't really know what you're talking about, don't talk. I haven't seen any of Entangle's work outside the sigs he makes here, but I am under the strong impression that he's a darn good artist. Also, 90% of the filterpile abstract these days aren't artistic. They're accidents. People screwing around until they found something that looks cool. You can tell that the people doing them don't know dip about art by the other things in the peice (like the typo if any, the balance (or lack thereof), ect..).

Well, you asked a really broad question, and gave the impression you wanted a quick answer, which there is none. Try to refine your question a bit... What program are you/do you plan on using? Have you ever done any shading off the computer? Do you know what shading is?

If you want to do it real, you need ShadePro 8.0, it's a program that ties-in with photoshop, like an advanced plugin.

Yeah, but I don't see anywhere where Azvereth claimed himself an artistic genius. He just posted some 3Dsm renders. You don't have to respond to it with "The entire abstract genre sucks" There are a lot of good abstracts out there. Things that were actually planned and took a lot of time to complete.

Hardly any art is original. Your 3D weapons aren't original. Nothing you do is original. So, why get on somone else's case about it?
