  1. It's not just in game, it's everything. If I go to winamp and set it at 100% left speaker, I hear it all in the right... And CS doesn't have a setting for that either. Any one else have any advice? Don't want to try and take back a $50 headset and explain why I want my money back...
  2. I just got a logitech USB headset (350 Series) It seems pretty nice... but I have one small problem. My computer is on my left side, so I have the cord connecting to the headset on my left side... kind of hard to put into words. Well anyway, it is suppose to be on the right (like your suppose to have the cord part of the headset and the microphone on your right) however I wear it on my left because of where the computer sits, which means that the sound is also reversed, I can't wear it how your suppose to because I don't have enough cord, and I don't want it laying on the keyboard while I am playing a game either... so is there any options to "reverse sound" ?? There were no drivers that came with it, just a FYI. I looked into my AC 97 sound options, only to realize they don't make a difference since it's a USB device, and not plugged into the sound / voice ports. I also looked in the sound options under the control panel but saw nothing. All help would be much appreciated as its nearly impossible to play games with reverse sound, too confusing.
  3. It might have been the first fan site... but it has the same layout as every page ever on the internet. It has nothing to do with lacking creativifty, it's just made in an ogranized way that everyone will be able to clearly read and find what they are looking for... afterall thats the main goal of most websites. If stuff was randomly skewed about it would be a pain in the rear to find anything.
  4. theres plenty of free hosts out there though... most of them want you to display banners or popups though, however there are several that don't require it. I beleive you can do some homework at http://www.hostsearch.com some free hosts won't display banners or charge you any fee's if your site deals with non-profit organizations and stuff like that... so you could make a non-profit organization website, or say your making one *wink* actually that won't work, because unfortunetly people arn't quite that stupid... but yea. You don't need to emerge from nothing, you don't need to tear away. Hypermedocrity for the win... as long as it looks good and feels good too
  5. If your going to use onboard, prepare to face choppy frame rates and low resolutions. You'll be able to run CS, but if someone tosses a smoke grenade your going to be getting about 4 FPS
  6. Even if it dones't happen regularly, you shouldn't allow it to happen. Over heating can cause major damage if it goes on. My friend lost a Hard drive due to over heating, and it can detroy your processor. Theres a few things you can do Get a better heaksink Use some thermal paste Buy a $5 fan for your box or... Just open your side case
  7. The only other program you'll need is Steam, which is basically just the launcher-client-thingy for all of Valve's games. They accept Euro's and pounds and simoleans just like american dollars, and you will get CS:S only with particular packages with HL2, so make sure you read up on what package your buying before you get clickyclicky crazy.
  8. Ouch, I just got attacked by... everyone So don't listen to my suggestion, it turns out iframes are :shame: :shame: :shame:
  9. try iframes if no one else suggested that already.
  10. maybe its nothing to do with a virus, maybes its over heating
  11. maybe you could buy an external hard drive and just go to libraries? On a side note, my friend has charter and he doesn't have a limit... however we had a LAN at his house one night with about 12 people and it ate up all his bandwidth. They ended up putting some kind of limit on his connection now, and he can't do anything.
  12. I don't have a problem with ghosting, a friend of mine does sadly, but not me. My problem is I like to lay down alot when I am browsing forums or just screwing around. With a plasma or flatscreen monitor, I can't really do that because if your not eye level with it the screen gets really really dark, or sometimes on an angle it will be grey.
  13. I like windows blinds, because it's kind of like a personalization type thing... I found a skin I really liked, in fact it matchs with my firefox skin, and my entire computers black and blue setup theme, case, mouse, keyboard, and monitor. HOWEVER Your right in saying it doesn't hog resources... BUT After I get out of any game that uses a lot of resources (Half-Life 2, Battle Feild 2, Quake 4) it will make my desktop lag an insane ammount. My CPU is normal, as if I were idleing, windows blinds isn't hogging and RAM either... it's just lagging, and it will hang there untill I either manually stop the process or restart. I like windows blinds, I don't like the fact that it still has some bugs.
  14. I prefere CRT monitors for gaming.... not as nice if your going toa lot of BYOC LAN Tournies, but I still prefere CRT.
  15. You can get awesome deals on line if you look around and get a little creative. I built a computer for $500 that can play HL2 and games like Quake 4 or FarCry on high detail level with a constant 30 fps, and on other levels a good 60 fps. I recycled alot though, I recycled the floppy and CD Drives from my old computer, same with the keyboard and mouse I have and I got the monitor free (19 inch flat panel) because it was a show model and the company couldn't sell it. The rest was built with 500$, and that was a year ago... the stuff I bought is much cheaper now and, like I said, can run newer games just fine. You will deffinitly need a video card... on board video is like... I don't think theres a word to descibe it? Anyway, if you want to game: good video card, good processor, and plenty of RAM are all you need. But if your talking CS 1.6, well you can play that with pretty much anything. Maybe not amazingly... but that all depends on if your going to be going to competitions and LANS with it, or just casually getting owned online in pubs.
  16. but before you remove them and start up the computer make sure you have them disabled in the device manager list, otherwise you might end up getting a nice fireworks show shooting across your mother board...
  17. It says you have trillian pro... did you actually pay for that or is it 3rd party warez stuff? If the latter, it could have come bundled with some unwanteds!!1111
  18. well if your paid fo Mcafee, I would reinstall that and update it before I used AVG, I had AVG literally destroy my computer once... so it's not on good grounds with me. Some how a virus infected the AVG and told it that every file on my computer was a virus and automatically stated deleting stuff, it was awesome if I wanted to format... but I didn't. What do you mean by microsoft generally, like you cant get to the windows update page or anything related to MS / Hotmail / .net ?
  19. Java wouldn't be affecting his DoD though... neither would anything with Iexplore, to me it just sounds like a case of my-computer-is-sick-with-every-alement-you-can-think-of-disorder Post a HJT Log please?
  20. When does it happen? Is it at your desktop or in a program or just random? Can you do anything at all when it locks up? When you start up do you get any error messages from windows that you just recovered from a crash or do you have any kind of logs that would show what happened? What version of windows are you running? Have you changed anything that maybe cause this problem to surface (settings, new programs, drivers, updates, ect)
  21. AHAHAHA!!! Omg, I am so psyched... After playing around with the services, everything is back to normal and my internet is like whoa boom! Lol, I am so incredibly glad... wow. I don't know which service it was, but one of the like 30 I turned off was making my internet slower, not by much, but when you play competitivly a few MS makes a huge difference. Okay well thanks for help guys. Maybe I will start hanging out at T&C again if I have time :P Peace out guys.
  22. Yea I got rid of those and a few others, but I am more concerned about the internet laggyness problems then that. Unfortunetly this is a family computer and my dads into that poker junk... Anyway, I am still pointing my nose in the direction of the windows services being set to automatic again... I found someone who managed to copy blackviper's site before he took it down... I dunno, I am going to guess that it has something to do with QOS Packeting, so I will try messing around with that later today and get back to you guys on how it went.
  23. yea, ventrilo is just a VOip client.. as far as the exe's go, its is just windows stuff, Mcafee stuff, winamp (music program), soundman (my sound driver), steam (a game) and HJT If anyone has any ideas let me know... seriously... I can't find any spyware or anything that would relate to my internet being slow, my ISP says theres no maintainance being done on any of the towers and my internet usually gives me awesome connections.
  24. It could just be one of the ball bearings... if thats the case, just wait it out. It usually happens in newer rigs.
  25. Bleh. This is aggravating me like you wouldn't believe. The other day I get on my computer only to find that McAfee had found and cleaned a couple infected files. What it had found was "w32\Gael worm". I wasn't too concerned at that point, it didn't really cause much chaos at all... anyway, I scanned the whole computer, and turned up nothing. I started playing a few games only to see a pop up saying that McAfee found some more of this "gael worm" junk. Anyway, I powered down, restarted in safe mode, scanned both HD's with McAfee, adaware, and the like. I uninstalled the exe files it had infected (Battlefield 2, which I don't play anyway) and pretty much cleaned out my HD as much as possible... did scandisk, disk cleanup, and defragmented... which would have no affect towards a virus or worm... but I thought it could use it. I havn't gotten any messages that I am still infected over the last day but I am getting slow connections, I am dropping packets left and right. If I connect to a server, I can ping at 50 one second, and 500 the next... and this is the same server that I use to get a constant 20 on. I don't even get how I got infected in the first place, the only thing I did was download ventrilo from the ventrilo website, theres no way I got it that way, but when I woke up 8 hours later it said I had a worm. I can't figure out why I am having connection problems. I am dropping packets left and right. I hate satelite internet, but beleive me it has nothing to do with that. I called the ISP, they said they arn't doing any maintainance. I checked my router and this is really starting to bug me. Oh, and after that worm got in my system, I "repaired" windows with my windows CD... is it possible some of my services got reenabled and are causing me lag? I know I had a good ammount of them disabled, and I am using a wireless card... dunno if that means anything, but after repairing windows it looks like everything was reverted back to "automatic" Arg... I wish blackviper wouldn't have taken down his site. All help is much appreciated. Oh, one last thing, if I repaired windows, is it possible my sound driver got messed up? Or is it just my imagination that things sound different? I really need help on this one, especially with the next season of CAL coming up, I can't be lagging during matchs!!!
