  1. jaja, of course, such a simple name, no wonder I couldn't remember it. Thanks. Anyone know of a legit program for the 2nd?
  2. Hrm. I use to have a really nice tool that alloud me to see my case temperature, CPU temperature, different fan RPM's, Video card temperature, heatsink, basically all the BIOS Pc Health and ect. It is a pretty fairly well known program, but I can't remember the name for the life of me. /r/ link please. Also was wondering if anyone know of a program that automatically changes your desktop background image every X ammount of minutes / hours to a set directory of pictures. If so, how much of a bog is it on resources? Thanks.
  3. For #2, it's either your internet speed / bandwidth, a firewall or something of the like, or the host of the video. Theres not much you can do in this situation accept for to not allow the video to stream until it is over half way done and you know it will finish downloading by the time you get to that spot. If your constantly being disconnected from RS, and your having problems streaming videos, it sounds like your dropping packets for some reason. What is your internet's up and down speed and who is your ISP? Other wise, the only other thing I can think of is: 1.) Call ISP 2.) Speak with a machine 3.) ??????? 4.) Profit!!!!
  4. yea, I have a few suggestions clean up your comp: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=521604 some nifty tools: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=521606 what you should do next time: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=521610
  5. **** the library, just click add and use "Directory" that uses the windows explorer directly...
  6. Lol In other words: We have no idea what you are talking about. A "music thingy player" isn't very descriptive. Is it an Ipod? What software are you using? For all I know, your trying to put a cassette track into your tape drive... Enough razzing though, heres the answer to your question. You put the thingy into the thingy, and then open that one thing and it shouldn't do anything yet but when it does click some stuff and the stuff should go onto the thing and then it should be ready to do something somewhere.
  7. Just to be fair, firefox does enjoy deleting my saved passwords when I tell it not to :| :|
  8. winamp. You can set it to show the name, artist, or file name. You can also use features like "add directory" and play anything in that directory... my music is in D:/music so I could say play everything in there, or I could pick a specific artist, like D:/music/John Lennon, and play everything in that folder. There are a lot of nice features with winamp, and there are a surplus of addons as well. If you do you get winamp, and you bored, I suggest downloading the milkdrop pluggin, it's a visualization plugin that can't compare to any default ones inclued with WA or WMP. Winamp also comes and works with a vast array of codecs, and it's free :P http://www.winamp.com/player/free.php
  9. other wise, you could set up a seperate account using the "administrator" account and then limit the privilages of that user, but I don't think that is what you wanted, it's not as effective.
  10. Basically what you want is a clean slate loader. You can set it up to preserve certain files and settings, and dump the others. This is what a lot of LAN centers and Schools use so people can't install unwanted / malicious programs on their computers. Essencially all it does is delete any file not under the "ok" file list, hence clean slate... so you could install windows, install your games and what not, and then put clean slate on there. Tell it to keep all your game files and whatnot, and then when you log off / shut down, it automatically clears anything that wasn't saved... Now your saying "what if I want to save a cool pic" well luckily you can set up folders that are completly unaffected by this as well - so for instance, you could make a folder like C:/Junk and whenever you download or find something nifty, put it in there for the time being. Actually it can do a ton of stuff, I had the changc to check it out upon 'finding' the password to our school's cleanslate admin panel. Heres a link to their site: http://www.fortresgrand.com/products/cls/cls.htm
  11. Yea... I was going to add the BIOS one but I didn't see the need, nor did I see the need for the device manager one that I posted anyway. I didn't want to have him messing around in BIOS, if you don't know what your doing you shouldn't mess around in their too much unless your "exit without saving" 'ing. I really doubt he would have had the knowledge to disable it or uninstall it, and doing such a thing accidently is next to near impossible. First things first, check the power connections to assure they are hooked up correctly.
  12. Do you know anything about Internet Explorer? There is nothing wrong with using it. I've been using Internet Explorer at home and at work for many years as my primary browser, I do not suffer from any usability issues nor any spyware or viruses. It all depends. If your using it to google the first 13 presidents, sure it works. Even using it to check e-mail is fine as long as your not prone to click on all your junk mail / virus infested emails.... but if your going to be going to semi-dodgy sites, things that are completely legal but still have that loom of "is this safe?" over it... I won't go their without FF. Even I know a few very simple flaws in IE that can completly crash a system Just as an example, at home I use FF, and check a few sites on a regular basis for information and what not, these sites falling under the semi-dodgy catagory. I went to check them at school, where they use IE, and I got a warning from their mcafee about an exploit that downloaded a trojan onto the computer.... Actually, I've been using a host for quite some time, it's a free one so visiting the site gives you a few pop ups. In FF, I never saw these pop ups, I had a friend go to the site to download something the otherday, and not only was he spammed with popups, he too got a virus (didn't saw what) and spyware from just visiting there... needless to say I am dumping that host. Yea, FF has flaws, but thats like comparing a locked car to a locked car inside a locked garage inside of a locked estate with a big gate and mean lookin' gaurd dogs.

I would do as they say and change your mouse scroll settings. What mouse is it, because some mice come with their own drivers and changing thw windows settings will do nothing, as they are overridden by the drivers. Also make sure you have your videocard drivers updated. Scrolling thru IE without video drivers is rediculous
  14. 3 questions What version of windows do you have What version of IE do you have Why are you using IE Forget the first two, and instead post a HJT log.
  15. Lol. Your cd drive is shot. It's probably a power issue... hence why I asked: "is there a light on it? Is it flashing or lighting up? Sounds like a power issue. Does it make any noise when you push the button? If so it could be one of the plastic gears is cracked / missing teeth." In the SECOND post of your last topic, and you were so happy to ignore answering it. Now we know the answer. So either check the connections to assure that the wires didn't get unplugged or fall out some how, if not, your going to need to get a new drive, unless of course, you managed to uninstall your cd drive thru the device manager, though I doubt that.
  16. -and- I'm not going to lie. For some reason, with my mobo drivers, it made RS choppy. I would take 3 or 4 steps incredibly fast, then I would freeze for a few seconds, and then take 3 or 4 more steps very quickly. After having a topic on the issue open in T&C for over a month, and meeting several other people with the same problem, I could only come to ONE conclusion. It was sun java. For some reason, when I downloaded and intalled Microsoft Java VM Rs ran fine, which is what I still use to this day. If I switch to sun java, I get the lag again. The only problem is... you probably won't be able to find a place to download Microsoft VM, and even if you did, there are a few security flaws in it, though nothing major, despite what all the people may flame about me using it day after day.
  17. Just as a sidenote - sharper, why would it be there webhost / server if there is no problem loading the page in FF, but an added delay when opening it with IE. That makes no sense. Think about things before you point fingers.
  18. Compatibility mode should work, however I have a few old DOS games that don't work any more either, sadly. Curses upon XP.
  19. er.... reading is fun K. Nite.
  20. clear your java cache
  21. get CCleaner. Google or download.com it, think it stands for "crap cleaner" basically removes all temp / uneeded files. Can clear up decent ammount of room and lots of other nice tools. defragmenting will just reorganize the files. Set your harddrive so it will compact old files older then X ammount of days, and run your disk cleanup.
  22. windows blind google.
  23. what are you smoking.... the OP said his counselor decided for him which laptop he would be getting, and the poster before that said he WOULD get a falcon if he could have.
  24. umm... I can go to world 1 varrock or fally on 56k no problems... RS takes like 4kbps down tops =\
  25. your mobo should have come with a CD of drivers for the components connected to it.
