  1. Saradomin lowers prayer, and so is great for pking. Guthix lowers defence, and zamorak lowers magic. Since your defence against magic is 70% determined by your magic level, zamorak is actually better. Guthix is better if you team pk with melee people, since it will help them hit more (your melee defence is 100% determined by your defence level)
  2. Great article! I think that the new engine is awesome: I have sound on low detail, and I lose connections much less often. However, I have still noticed autoers at the falador and melzars maze yew spots (lol i noticed that the s in in melzars maze is censored) I cant wait for the "big surprise"
  3. I always train with bronze arrows, they never cost more than 6 gp in stores
  4. I would mine coal and iron and smelt it. Of course you could always merchant...
  5. What would the best way for me be?
  6. The 1st 5 or so times that I died were due to trying to fight Delrith (this was before i had discovered food) at combat 16. I believe the next time was from the scorpions in the al karid mine. Since then I died in Melzars maze at 32 combat against the demon, losing some at the time precious mithril items. Elvarg killed me a couple times before i got him (serves me right for trying to take him on at such a low level; or is elvarg a she?) Of course, i have died a ton of times in the wilderness. Mostly just when i was messing around, but once when a friend and i were fighting greater demons, a ranger 3 or 4 hit me. I lost 17 chaos runes, an amulet of magic, varok tele runes, and a fire staff. Very valuable to me at the time. Anyway, I think the latest time was when I was checking out the new wild update, and i ran into a clan of level 90s at the demonic ruins. I took a 25, an 18, then a series or 10s and i was dead. All happened in 2-3 seconds.
  7. I have trained my combat on ice giants in the ice caves since my combat was 50ish. They give great drops, if you high alch the mith sq's and blk kites they drop you get almost 1k. Plus some pretty good coins drops. And the bones are awesome for prayer exp. The ice warriors help keep noobies out. Fortunately, if you stay in the back half of the icy section long enough the monsters stop being aggressive, which is very nice.
  8. YES MY NEW SOCK AVATOR WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, that's a good idea. I think I'll try that. If anybody else posts on this thread, see if you could just mention a few good f2p ranging spots 4 somebody my level
  9. I personally use a combination of crumble undead and curse in the varrock sewers to train my magic. The base exp for crumble undead is just over 30 exp, and curse gives just under 30. The runes for crumble undead are cheaper, and curse costs next to nothing. I got my magic from 56 to 60 in a couple hours doing this (however, I have no idea if this is good or bad, please advise  ) Of course, training on high level creatures would get you great drops, but it also means you would have to do trips for food, adding quite a lot of time. Unless there are safe spots in the metal dragon dungeon...idk. Anyway, I have taken a paragraph to make my point, so enjoy!
  10. I am a f2p player who has been playing since fall 2004. As you can see, my stats aren't terribly impressive, but they are OK. I plan to become a member for the 1st time this summer. In the opinion of people who have done the quest, will I be able to finish all the required quests, and raise my members stats high enough, and do the quest, before summer break is over?
  11. I think it was a good article. I know im going to become a member for the 1st time this summer. And I can't wait for the new game engine update because i get like a 30k connection on a windows 98 so it's really bad. Btw, do you think I'll be able to finish the Legends Quest before school starts up again?
  12. If my avatar is me saying "Go socks!", it means my new avatar works. And I think you should do One Small Favor, you get 2 lamps that give 10k exp in a skill that level 30 or higher
  13. Well at the moment i have 550k (somewhere around 535k once i take advantage of low ess prices), 50 ranging, and full green drag with maple short. I dont want to blow too much on arrows, since Im saving up to buy a drag scimmy, glory amulet, full mystic etc. once i become a member this summer (yes, Im not a member so some of these methods youre suggesting wont work LOL). So, plz give me some ideas here :?

Zamorak is the best, since it lowers magic. 70% of magic defence is determined by your magic level, and only 30% by your defence level. And since most npc's dont have prayer, the choice is obvious (even the ones that do have prayer, have infinite prayer so you cant use sara strike to have any affect on their prayer)
  15. I started crafting by gaining a few levels from pottery. Then i discovered leather, and killed cows in lumbridge, tanned in alkarid, sewed and sold to general store. Whenever i found gems, i would make those into amulets. Once i reached 40, i mined silver in the guild, and made it into holy symbols. Later i tried killing cows at the crafting guild, tanning, sewing, and dropping. I think this is the best way since you dont have to use water with your raw product, then use it with a wheel, then use it with a furnace. You just kill cows, tan, and sew. Of course, you lose a miniscule amount of money. I lost a couple k to get from crafting 45 to 50. However, it did take me several hours. I got to craft all the rubies that had been collecting in bank, and now im not going to do anything that has to do with crafting for several months 8-)
  16. I once did a similar thing. I was going to mine 700 iron and 1400 coal to get my mining to 60 and my smithing to 50. The 700 iron wasnt that hard, I mined it at the Al Karid spot with 3 rocks all next to each other (thats what it takes if you have a rune pick!) This took me several hours. The coal took me several weeks. I probably wasnt doing it the best way  I mined it from the lumbridge swamps. It took me quite awhile. Fortunately, once my mining reached 59 i used a dwarf stout to get into the mining guild, and it flew on from there. But here is some advice: stock up on nature runes before you smelt anything. It took me several days to smelt all that stuff. Superheat makes it unbelievably faster. Of course, members probably have better mining spots LOL
  17. In a huge amount of guides that I have read, it is assumed the anyone using the guide has the 70 ranging necessary to wear black dragonhide (not that a f2p could use it anyway, but I will be a member soon/eventually). Most of the combat 80+ melee people i know also have 70+ ranging. How does everybody do it? I spent an hour (edit: I meant to say several hours, 1 hour is like nothing LOL) and got my ranging from 43 to 50! Is there some secret that Im missing? Or do people just think that its really important, and devote a huge amount of time to it? I would really like to know!
  18. For those of you who wont read my sig, 65 mining is my highest, 41 runecrafting is my lowest f2p (all p2p are 1). LOL my runecrafting is my highest place on the hiscores. I started playing fall of 2004
  19. LOL i always wondered if zezima was a guy or girl. I agree with whoever said that he like zezima's attitude more than n0valyfe's. Imagine spending 10-12 hours every day on the computer! It might be cool for a week i guess... LOL n0valyfe finally got 99 in crafting, so he's all maxed. I wish zezima gave us his bank pic though...
  20. Everybody thinks that whether fair or not, the macroers have gotten their just deserves. I think we are forgetting that they probably supplied a huge amount of the essence being brought into the world. Without them, essence is much harder to get. Besides, they were only trading to people who had made that choice themselves, its not the macoers' fault there are so many idiots in the world. They may have been breaking the rules, but they were hurting nobody, and helping quite a few people trying to level the runecrafting :)
  21. LOL i make money either selling steel bars, or smithing them into steel platebodies and hi-alching those. It depends if I want more exp or money. Of course, your stats arent as crazy as mine  I would go with selling lobsters
  22. I really dont make money with ess, but i think this update is really unfair to all the low level f2pers that do. And here's something to think about:the macroers that were mining ess might have been breaking the rules, but they were the ones that provided the majority of the ess in the world. They allowed services like world 66 law crafting. LOL it's kind of like mexican immigrants in america. People hate them, but they provide essential labor that nobody else wants to do :)
  23. Okay never mind this. When i posted this (2 times!), i had forgotten that Jagex would rather die than make an update available to f2pers
