Rune crossbow can't fire Emerald Bolts (E), Ruby Bolts, Diamond bolts, Dragonstone Bolts or Onyx bolt (all of the latter include enchanted and non-enchanted). Dragon Crossbow can fire Emerald Bolts E and Ruby Bolts E. Chaotic Crossbow and Royal Crossbow can fire every metal bolt, as well as Royal Bolts. Black Salamander, Hand Cannon, Karil's 2h, Main hand and off hand crossbows all have their own exclusive ammos. In short, Rune crossbow is trash now, and arguably Armadyl Crossbow too, since it has no off hand counterpart. If you are looking for a decent crossbow, Hand cannon is a good choice. Chaotic Crossbow is only good if you have both the mainhand and off hand, and if you fancy QBD, Royal crossbow is also excellent for its price.

Get a few witches, but dont go for more than a few because they'll definitely be replaced in pincer.

Your value on Punish basically confirmed, at least for Chaotic Claw, that Fastest weapon damage are like clockwork, the actual damage match up exactly with theory, which was what I found for Rune Claws and Dragon Scimitars as well (give or take 1 point for rounding error). I'd be interested in seeing if Chaotic Long/Rapier will show the same anomoly as Rune/Dragon Longs. (Just the crit for punish will be enough).

Constrictor's Log - GG JaGEX
chenw replied to constrictor's topic in BlogScape (Ongoing Progress Reports and Goals)
Nope, his prayer bonus would be a minumum of 4 if they are (he only has +2, which I assume is from the neck). -
Expected, since equilibrium doesn't affect dps of your hits (assuming an extremely large HP pool ofc) and Ability crits do not vary, which makes it better than expected actually. btw Q 1. would it be ok if I steal your data for my own analysis? :P 2. could you kindly do one for Chatoci longs/rapiers? :D

Where are you getting that 600k from Q? 30*2k = 60k, unless you know something I dont? :P

EoC basically made slayer a lot easier, since it's multi combat everywhere. In theory, weakness's are somewhat, but then there are players who advocate Barraging everything under the sun, which makes sense too. (If you need to get combat XP in other stats, you can use the saved time from barraging to level to 99). Bloods are back on the rise due to the Charming Imp (which makes charm collection completely afk'able), but maging in general has been made cheaper than Pre-EoC. Player Owned ports is basically kind of Facebook game type minigame in RS, there is some grind involved initially, but after it's mostly a D & D, you eventually work toward T85 armor sets (both tradeable and non-tradeable versions exist, although only the non-tradeable ones do not degrade to dust and repairable), Rocktail Soup (best food in the game atm) and Scrimshaws (it goes in your pocket slot and gives a variety of effects). Note, to start PoP at all, you must have 90 in at least one of: Fishing, Runecrafting, Slayer, Prayer, Herblore or Thieving (none of which are boostable), in order to make the most out of PoP, it is advisable to have more 90's, preferably all. You also need 95 cooking, 93 fletching, 90 smithing and 90 crafting to be able to make everything PoP has to offer. Well, notable sources of daily income include, but not limited to, Flasks, Broad Arrowheads (6000 every 24h), battlestaves (up to 100 every 24h), and MTK.

The way I see it, even if EE gets nerfed right now, I doubt anyone will notice (or even know about the nerf). So it's a safe bet that, unless the nerf comes very far down the line, I don't see Drygore Off hand prices will be significantly affected by the nerf. It might shoot up initially, then fall back down to 'normal' prices again. So until EE do indeed get nerfed (I am still inclined to believe they will than they won't), I find no reason to even own a Drygore off hand, much less using it.
-
Because changing from Drygore off hand to EE shaves something like 0.3% off your dps (assuming abilities use) and gives 33% discount on your Drygore upkeep.
-
The question then becomes whether it's actually worth it to use Drygore off hand

I got 12 scrolls in the last 23 days (my last screenshot was taken 23 days ago and had 3 more empty scrolls), so it could go either way :P But it's more like 12 in 19 days now PS: the scrolls I am missing are for the Critical strike scrimshaws. And I am also 21 Plate, 21 Chi and 53 lacquers away from full pop sets... I don't know how i managed to get that many chi in the first place O_o Edit: What's the setup one would need to get 26 port upgrades?

Progress update No scroll or rerolls today, looks like my prospected goal of full scrolls before end of this month won't be happening :(

I'd like to very much argue against that point, there are plenty of Medium to high level tier magic and range weapons that are readily affordable by the average player. By 'affordable', I mean anything that can be obtain from quests, have less than 500k weapon cost or have little to no maintainence cost. Such as the polypore staff, Polypore costs, at most, 200k for a T75 staff. You have access to both Super-Anti fires and soul split, so that eliminates any need of Anti-Dragon shield and Wands (Wands IS very expensive, even for a T70). Affordable ranged weapons include, but not limited to Crystal Bow (T70), Black Salamander (T70), Hand Cannon (T75), all of which are obtainable for less than 200k (in the case of the latter two, less than 20k, excluding ammunition) Affordable Melee weapons include Vine Whip (requires 80 slayer, but it is very cheap for a T75 1h melee weapon), Enhanced Excalibur (which, remains to this day, the second best Melee off hand, only marginally beaten by Drygore off hands). It isn't very important to use the correct 'style' everytime, but you should ALWAYS use, whereever possible, stay in the same corner of the Combat Triangle (unless you have weapons that are at least 10 tiers or higher in another corner).

According to wiki, while it doesn't do damage to them, Holy Water can lower their fire Shield and it is thrown weapon. I guess we will find out if it REALLY works lol. (Darklight barely damages them anyway). I am not entirely surprised that Drygore works well (I doubt there is anything that it doesn't, barring monsters that are very specifically made to resist melee, eg Polypore Dungeon).
-
I just tried with full void with ABS and Royal Xbow. I was reasonably happy with their performance, but I am inclined to use Holy water instead of Darklight to stay at a range. (I might try that tomorrow, time permitting) Let's just say void is not the set where you want to go into the deep end of the pool with lol. I got hang of prayer switching, but luring the demons is still a laughable learning process so far. And... no beginners luck here either lol. Not a single decent drop in 1.5 hours, granted i might be averaging something like 30 kills an hour or something :P

They do now. I have crews saved by life boats at least 3 times in the past two weeks, all lifeboats are still active.

03-Apr-2013 - Dungeoneering Dual Wielding and Charming Imp
chenw replied to chenw's topic in General Discussion
Which in turn, makes: 1. Drygore Off hands deceptively lousy (compared with EE, Off hand drygore only nets something like 0.3% increase in overall dps compared to EE) 2. Every other melee off hand junk (especially Chaotic melee off hands) 3. You wonder why isn't EE more commonly seen. I have only ever seen EE used with Whip (rarely Vine whip) and all chaotics I have seen are wielded in pairs. -
Just finished my last storyline (Defiance of Hyu-Ji), at long last... Still need 21 Chi, 21 Plate and 53 Lacquer for whole sets though, so it's going to be a long while.
-
Agreed It's more nervous for me to make a piece of PoP armor than it was to eject an unfired 120mm mortar round...

Got two scrolls yesterday (sent on 1 scroll, immediately rerolled and got another). up to 67 (scrolls are appearing very seldomly lately) Also, I cannot for the life of me roll a 4th Oxhead. It must have been two weeks since i rolled my 3rd one. I have both a new JoD and a Jade Merch ready to be recruited, and they look rather.... tempting at this stage lol.
