Since the dawn of EoC, I have always pondered if every melee weapon from the same tier does the same damage. After doing much digging, I have decided that the information is best found by myself. I got several pairs of Dragon and Rune Weapons and smacked them a few times on the dummy. How did I test the dps? I didn't, all I did was test the max hit. If a weapon's max hit is higher than another, then its dps is, naturally, higher, if everything else (Rotation, accuracy, no auto attacks, etc) would also be higher. How do I test Max hit? By hitting a critical strike with an ability. Hitting a critical strike with an Ability will always inflict the maximum possible damage from that weapon, the image proofs lie in the hide tags. Note: all following critical strike were performed without any prayer or potions, and with 99 strength Result: Ability crits are always the same, given the exact same weapons, stats, prayers After some testing, I have decided to test weapon damage from Crits achieved by using Punish (as conveniently it hits for exactly 100% weapon damage at crit) The following weapons were used: Rune Claw, Rune Long Sword, Rune Battleaxe, Rune 2h Sword Dragon Scimitar, Dragon Long Sword, Dragon Battleaxe, Dragon 2h Perculiarly enough, the results doesn't show what we always assumed... the weapons do not all do the same damage on the same tier... For one handed weapons, slower weapons are actually better, though the margin is quite small (of the order of around 1% between best and worst) I will post my findings with regards, to DW, and 2h tomorrow, but it follows largely the same pattern. Also, Dual wield weapons do NOT depend on Tier, it depends on Normalised weapon damage, which, under nearly every circumstance, would have been the same as tier, but EE is the only, and one major exception. In short, EE's damage is 'real' (as in equipping it does improve your damage by what it says on the description). Lastly, Mixing different weapon speeds of the same tier has a very small effect on damage.

I was thinking it completely the other way, I value tokens before I value the XP I'd get from it. Even so, the difference between Chaotics and Royal would be order of minutes over course of long hours

o_O I thought it's 3M dg XP?

Unless there is something I am missing in the Critical strike mechanics, a Crit will always hit for 120% of your max hit, which means it is, on average, 240% damage boost over none-critical hits (because non-crits have an average damage of 50% of your max hit). So every 1% crit is an extra 2.4% of your non-crit dps. However the amount of damage difference between an off hand claw and a EE, assuming a main hand claw, is 8%, so you will need at least an extra 3.3% chance to crit on the off hand to counter balance that (in reality it's a bit more, since the overall dps increase with each successive % of crit improvement decreases as your % crit goes up), Claws only has 0.9%, not enough to cover it.

EE will do, EEE only has a boosted healing, statwise it's the same (Claws and EE combo is better than every other Chaotic combo, barring momentum, because of the low accuracy of EE).

1. Does RoW work with QBD's "drops"? If so, when do I have to equip it to take effect? 2. Can you have more than 1 Royal Crossbow at a time? 3. I assume that there is no way to repair a royal crossbow until it actually breaks, would this be correct? Thanks!

Before this update, it was even easier. Taking damage in Kiln was a rarity.
-
Run Civ (pick your version) on Windowed mode >:D
-
Possible, but less likely due to the rarity of non-focus region's voyages.
-
It is indeed. I use at QBD, I know it might not be worth it, but I do like the added safety.

Right, did a couple more kilns after the warband update. I have noticed I am, in general, taking a lot more hits than before the warband update (to the point where my armor was degrading nearly, if not, twice as fast as before), which means they either upped Kiln's difficulty, the loss of 200 armor from 99 Capes was that significant, or both. As such, BoB/Healing farmiliars, while not strictly necessary, is rather helpful. T75 suffices to get cape, but if you want to use Kiln for profit, t80 is pretty much compulsary, not even ABS is good enough for kiln on a long term basis

Vamp, Elements and cruelty

Problem is he only has access to wind and water surge, it's best to go for the elemental weakness if it is water, otherwise go wind surge or polypore strike
-
I believe he meant Scrimshaw, Aura steals based on damage you do (especially since he said People typically use it at Nex and KK)

Couple of points: 1. The stats has been corrected, and they are indeed t80 stats (except, unlike other t80 armor, all pieces barring helm has the same protection across all 3 styles rather than biased, making them pretty much best protective armor 2. The video was made pre-eoc, and one of the advices was running into melee range of Jad in order to dodge the attacks from the Yot (method one of that video). Post eoc, that maneuver is, IMHO, completely unneccessary and puts yourself into into a bigger risk of jad if he isn't very well versed in prayer switching (especially switching in all 3 styles). Every monster in wave 35 (while wearing Obby armor that is) can be completely ignored until Jad is dead. I personally kill the Yot first since he blocks my view, and I go to Jad and kill him with a distance, then I move on to the Xil and Ket. I'd be surprised if i took more than 1000 damage total from the other two. 3. I thought Dill's special attack hits through Invincibility? I used Constitution crystal and I was pretty much immune to the dills (assuming you don't let more than 1 attack you) Two important things regarding Crystals: 1. If you have a crystal active, you CANNOT use any more crystals (even Restoration ones) until it expires. 2. For some really bizzare reason, your ability to use skills are based on your current combat levels, not your base levels, which means that you might not be able to use 1 or 2 abilities when under influence of a crystal (the most notable ones being Assault and Bombardment).

It's not the mess up part that worries me, but there is my fun in experiments too, the more restrictive respec is, the less fun i will have in it :P Thats what kept me in D3, I could play with whatever was available whenever available, I never had a more enjoyable learning experience playing a rpg. End game however.... Let's leave it at that :P. I'll post my username when i get a chance. I hope Taiwan isn't on their blacklist.

I feel you about the character building, there is nothing that makes your character unique from another because they can easily copy your spec. But, frankly, I had more fun experimenting with my own style of play with D3 than I did with D2 (until of course they introduced respec, and even more so with Median). I don't mind character building, it's the regret of the decision. If I have to replay the game to fix that regret, no thanks, I don't like being penalised for that many hours of game play because I took a wrong turn with skills/stats. If i had more free time, I'll charge head long into PoE, maybe i'll think about it. Does this game have server restriction as in your character can only play on a certain server? And how exactly does the respec system work?

Crystals go to waste if you don't use them, so the restoration, constitution and Invincibility are pretty much your panic buttons, and they are provided for free without any repercussions (unless you count having inventory space as a repercussion). The rest of the kiln doesn't really warrant the use of them on any basis. Restoration complete restores HP and Prayer instantly, so I don't see how shield with resonance is actually better in an emergency. Since the crystals are provided for free, and that there is plenty of time that you'd be able to pick them up without having to go out of your way to use them, I would suggest use them to the fullest extent rather than messing around with gear switching and using abilities that would otherwise be useless. If prayer switching is a big issue, then I suggest doing this: Get to the first jad, don't attack him, and simply prayer switch as long as you can and see how long you can last without being hit. If you can last 10 or more hits, then he is pretty much ready for the rest of the kiln, as the kiln does not have anything else that is as tricky as prayer switching on jad. Lastly, running under jad is also something i strongly advise against, just run back to the north eastern square of the middle wall where you used to wait jad, that would give you all the time you need to calm down, eat, pot up etc.
-
The theory is good, but the practice is not so much. By the time you get to the first Jad, you will already have an invincibility and a restoration crystal, both of which will give enough time to heal up without needing to use a shield, even just for resonance. I did bring the Obsidian shield with me for the first two kilns, after the third one I just stopped bringing them. If I were to use a shield, I would actually use one of the three spirit shields if you have one. No degrade and a very powerful protection effect as well.

I assume the Crescent isle does not appear on your map? If not, I assume you have one very unlucky streak.

True, I got carried away there. Jad is still capable of inflicting heavy damaging (I once got melee'ed for 5200ish for standing too close to it. Long story), and Wave 28 (the 6 dills wave) can be brutal if you dont stand in the right place. Wave 35 (the only wave that Jad does not spawn from the south side of the kiln) might also come as a surprise too. One last thing, I have found that Jad and Har-Aken are both 'weak' to magic (as in they take full damage from magic, but only half from Ranged, didn't try melee).

I actually lied, I have 95 chi, short of SS top by 5 chi (._.); EDIT: got another Trio today, if I pass this, next one will be Plate/Lacquer Trio. Yum... And Probably get Admiral rank too :D

I'll wait and see if they ever change their respec system, right now, the reskill system in D3 is what I respect it for, even if everything else about the game is flawed. PoE, the last I have read, does not have an easy respec system, and frankly, thats enough to keep me away from the game. I simply do not have enough time to spend more time getting the things I need for a respec than actually respecing. If they change it to something much simpler however... I may very well try the game, it does look otherwise impressive.

Correct, you do only half damage on targets that is not weak to the style you are using. T80 weapons completely suffices in Magic and Ranged. I used Armadyl Battlestaff and Royal Crossbow, both to great effect. Also: 1. Get Obsidian armor, unless you have absolutely no plan to go back in there after you get your cape, and even then I still highly recommend it, a brand new set of Obsidian armor (minus the shield, you won't need it, at all, in any capacity) is good for at least 20 kilns (and that is a low estimate, as it depends on how much you are letting Har-Aken pound you, you can easily last 25 kilns without needing to nrew) 2. If you have dreadnips, use them. KO'ing Dills with Dragon pick will make you want to punch your screen. 3. If you wish to use Farmiliar, use combat ones, it's the only one that actually helps Kiln. (See below) 4. Health wise, you don't really need food (assuming you use obsidian armor), Regenerate, Guthix's blessing, the crystals and occasional soul split is more than enough. So keep 6 spaces open in your inventory to pick up the crystals. This also make healing and BoB farmiliars useless. Note: these are all as per last update. Whether they did anything to Kiln after Wildy warband I have yet to discover (I see nothing in the patch notes regarding that so nothing may have changed).

One solution to that is designate an official warband server, and synchronise all warbands across all servers so they would be on at the same time (or at least the timers). Either that, or just simply let warband occur only on a select few worlds, but the announcement is global, letting you know maybe 15-30 minutes before hand that a warband will happen on warband servers
