New to photography and looking for some cc
Well you can start off by trying to get a different angle on your subject so that there is not a bright sky in the background. Or...One thing you can do when looking at a bright sky with a subject in the forground is to meter off of the sky so that its not blown out, and then use whats called a fill in flash. This means that you force your camera to flash, so set your camera to where it will flash no mater what, meter off of the sky and then take the picture. Doing this, the sky won't be blown out, and if you are close enough to your subject, the flash will iluminate it so that it is not in shadows. But remember for this to be effective, you have to be close enough to your subject so that the flash will make a difference

New to photography and looking for some cc
They aren't bad for being new to photography, some are how ever better than others. I don't have much time to cc right now, about to go out with GF, but a few things I noticed right off the bat is that some of them seem to be out of focus completely, ie the ones in the woods. In some of them the sky is completely blown out, some times you can't really help this, and if you couldnt compose the shot differently, you can always edit in a sky. Number ten is deffinately the best imo how ever i think that the focus should have been on the flower pod looking things and not the green plant itself. Ill cc more later when i have time, Navy oh and i remember you... i made your sig

DBZ - Free sig if you want.
I like the background, but the render is not blended very well and I dont like the white text. Overall, nice job.

LP is there a reason that you use photomatix instead of PS to merge your HDR shots?
-
Just experimenting, take a look and comment please. ;)
I like it all, except for the lightning and the moon. The moon is to white and the shape is weird and the lightning is just...odd? The lightning in the sepia version looks better for some reason, but i like the over all effect of the b&w better. Other than that it looks really cool and i really like it.

I've never tried this, but just from some research here are the basics as I understand them. 1. Always shoot images that are going to be used for HDR in raw. 2. Most dslr's and other high end digital cameras have a setting to take a single picture multiple times with different exposures, set your camera to this and take the image. My camera will take 3 at a time, underexposed, correctly exposed, and over exposed. 3. If your camera does not have this setting then using what ever program you use to edit your raw photos, underexpose the shot by 2 stops at the max and save it, and overexpose the shot by a max of 2 stops and save it. You should now have 3 different files, the original, the underexposed and the overexposed. (you can how ever have more than 3 mores files with each succeding file no more than 2 stops over or underexposed from the preceeding. 4. Now use an HDR processor (found this one http://www.hdrsoft.com/download.html) to combine the different exposures. And apparently from my understandings this is how it works......But I could be way off on something lol. Hopefully someone knows more about it then I do.

Another photo thread!
They're pretty good, the last one being my favorite, I love the lighting as well as the positions of the cat and other objects. In the first one, I would have angled it differently so that the flowers weren't right behind the cats, it just takes away from them. In the other ones, try to not have the cat in the dead center of the photo each time, i.e. rule of thirds. And in the sixth one, the branches in the foreground take away from the background. As I said, I love the last one, and the other ones are pretty good as well. Navy

I can tell you, thats very hard :( People buy the studio photos on a white background way more then landscapes and such. Ya unfortunately :( "Theres a difference between photographs and snap shots" And my pictures are just decent snapshots, meaning nothing was setup to take the picture, no arranging of anything, I just took it how I saw it...which to me says more about your photography skills, but what ever But anyways, thanks for the comment :D

Thanks, I tend to do that for some reason. As for polarizing filters, I use Hoya and therefore thats what I would suggest, but I have not used others so I can't compare or rate it to others.

New photos- by Navy 8-14
Hey again. Been gone for a while on 3 different vacations so of course I've brought back lots of photos. Heres just some of the few that I thought were the best. The first are in the raw, the second group have been worked on, and the third group are originals of the ones worked on (pay special attention to the b&w of the church, its my pride and joy, and if you can't catch on, I removed the powerlines and poles from the picture). Anyways as always c&c is always appreciated. Oh and sorry for not rotating some of the images, just realized, but I'll upload them rotated and post soon. Worked on: Originals of the edited: Thanks, Navy
