  1. o____o Do not talk to other characters? Anyways, the backstory is kind-of a story unto itself. A lot has happened with Rilha on her own, but it hasn't been completed yet. >.> So it will undoubtedly play into the RPG sooner or later.
  2. xDDD I am officially amused.
  3. My whole life is a nerdy moment. My nerdiest? Possibly when I brought my GameBoy Advance SP to the overnight at my (Unitarian) church, just so I could use the built-in light to read my Russian grammar book in the dark. Or could it be when I was weightlifting with my French-English dictionary?
  4. Sure they can...its just very...very...very hard and requires a bit of magic. I know because my character is half dwarf and half human. well of course, with magic anything is possible, but I still don't like how this is getting further and further away from low magic as we continue. I'm considering making a "no magic at all" rule for characters (the half-dwarf would still work though, but you would have to modify the god a little bit) Believe me, I do have a backstory. I do have MSN, but I never log in.
  5. Well Scottish people manage to pronounce it correctly without much trouble. I also know English poeple who pronounce it correctly too. So don't go saying it would make the language unbalanced because it simply doesn't. I'm American and I pronounce it correctly. >.>
  6. Ach, people are people. In any country in the world, you'll find human beings and it's preeeeetty likely that they'll all be fairly similar.
  7. I suppose if you got the japanese version :P I know Japanese. But I wonder if it's available in French?:o I'm a linguaphile like no other.
  8. I WANT IT. Now, how do I get the money? Are there foreign languages available?:o
  9. xD Maybe. I am a fairly good author, if I do say so myself. There are a bunch of people already studying Aquenandi. Over twenty; it amazes me. I already actually have an imaginary world where it is spoken.
  10. The Othersphere is like a portal to a different dimension; an intentional and controllable portal. As if the fabric of reality got a hole poked in it It affects this reality as a constant; it doesn't matter if it actually is here. It can be in the other dimension and the ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹Ãâhole̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ will still be there. It's a fairly difficult concept. Aquenandi need not be used often; merely a couple of greetings and honorifics, such as 'Esta̢̮â¬Â¦Ãâáve' which is a sarcastic honorific.
  11. I mean using it only very rarely, like with my character occasionally calling people 'Esta̢̮â¬Â¦Ãâáve' which is a very sarcastic term for 'my dear sir/madam'.
  12. xD Actually, I just started studying Swedish. I found out the similarities before I started from a very surprised Swedish friend. xDDD I blame my Swedish heritage. Yes, it does have articles, but they are used quite infrequently. The definite article is 'a', which makes Aquenandi mean 'the language'. xD The indefinite is technically 'in', so 'Inquenandi' would be 'a language'. For the indefinite, though, people are more likely to say 'na', which means 'of'. But they really are used infrequently; the words are generally used without articles. There IS a dialect of Aquenandi where the articles are commonplace, but that's Aquenandi-Aldur -- the high language. Used only by the very-upper class.
  13. Thanks! @_@
  14. Sorry for being so vague. I wrote my description last night when I should have been sleeping; I wasn't particularly coherent at the time. She's about six feet in height. I always play a similar character in RPs like this; she's always a half-breed of some variety. Usually half-elf and half-demon, but that wasn't an option here. The navy blue cloak is to conceal her identity, not hide her. As in, cover her face. She has the Othersphere to hide her. I'll get into that now. The Othersphere is a mystical orb that bends the temporospatial continuum; it can hide things (and the wielder) in an otherspace pocket which can stretch to hold anything. It also constantly amasses magical energy from the roots of reality itself, serving as a very powerful amplifier. The Othersphere can't be stolen; if someone tries, it conceals itself. It can only be willingly given; nobody really knows just how Rilha got a hold of it, but she depends on it quite heavily. She stores all sorts of assorted nonsense in it; there is a rumour that she hides several corpses in it. Is that a good signature item? xD I like the Othersphere. I've used it in RPs before. ALSO, what do you think of the idea of occasionally using Aqủ̮̩̉nandi? You can view some of the details about it in the Off Topic subforum, in the Constructed Languages thread. >.> Here is my post translated into Aqủ̮̩̉nandi, if you want to get a feel for the language.
  15. Most dialects should use it but they are just lazy and choose not. I'm sure they could do it if they tried :P But the correct way of saying loch is not the most common way unfortunetly. I know. It bugs me when people pronounce it as a 'k', but what can I do?
  16. Oh, believe me that I'm learning ones that already exist! I speak English and French fluently, Japanese competently, am studying Russian, and just started learning Italian and Swedish. Aqủ̮̩̉nandi exists because it helps me learn pre-existing languages.
  17. Of course it's found in English. As you said yourself in Loch. English people tend not to pronounce it correctly though (they pronounce it lock?) but it's commonly used here in Scotland. Anyway very interesting post. How could you be bothered doing all that? What can I say? I'm a nerd. xD MOST dialects of English don't use that sound; I put that in for the majority.
  18. I am so sorry for your loss.
  19. Another linguistically-oriented post brought to you by Rilha! After hearing that constructed languages were good for language-learning skills, I started work on my own. I quickly got sucked into just how fun it is; "The joy of creation," as a friend calls it. I've been creating it for a couple of years now, and it is now very close to complete, and vastly different from English, granting one more freedom of expression. Now there are several people wanting to learn my language, so I'm teaching them. 8) It consists of these consonant sounds:
  20. I am sorry for your loss. It's terrible when one so young dies...
  21. Made me laugh a bit...the rest was good though...Not the stickytape!!! It was very good and i enjoyed it...however...I cannot give money for 3 reasons... The first is that I don't have any money... The second it that I don't have any money... The third is that giving money to ones self is highly strange... I am aware that is only, in fact, 2 reason but I felt it was so important it needed to to be mentioned twice Broke-ness seems to happen.
  22. I think I can contribute greatly to this RPG. I would even let you use my conlang, AquÃÆÃâÃâénandi, which I am very proud of. Only if you wish, though. Nothing better for expanding a world than diversity! Name: Rilha Ama̢̮â¬Å¾ÃâÃÂ¥endi Birth place: According to her, she was born across the Sea, in the land where the Sun rises each morning. However, it is more than likely that she is lying in an attempt to seem grandiose. Race: A cross between a Sun elf and a Sea elf, although she doesn't really look like either. Age: By human terms, she appears to be about twenty-five. She, being the secretive creature she is, does not seem willing to disclose this information. Appearence: She is tall and rather graceful with long limbs and lengthy midnight-black hair that is knotted into an intricate ponytail. Her eyes are mismatched; her left is a bluish violet color, and her right is sea green. Her skin is extremely pale, like that of an albino. She can usually be found wearing cool colors, such as blue and green. She has a navy blue cloak that she often wears when she wishes to conceal her identity. Backstory: She is very reserved about this; when asked, she tends to become even more sarcastic than usual. Occasionally, fragments slip through: it has become common knowledge that she grew up in the high court of the Sun elves, though what her role there was is questionable. She holds a considerable grudge against both humans and dwarves, calling them 'useless' and 'incompetent'. Perhaps this is important? Or maybe she's simply vain. Weapons / magic / armor: She is quite adept with magic, being that she can communicate with the elements and call them to do her bidding. According to her, she cannot wield a sword for the life of her. However, it is doubted that she actually can't; she simply refuses to do so, calling such physical warfare "vulgar". She can shoot a bow with deadly accuracy, preferring to save her magic for dire need. She prefers to avoid battle when she can, though, and is known to mysteriously vanish when the need arises to fight, much to the chagrin of her comrades. She often only uses fire magic (for cooking) and shield spells. Rilha has a very distinctive personality; sarcastic, cold, arrogant, and far too intelligent for her own good: often seeming to be omniscient. If someone tells her not to do something, it's almost undoubted that she will and get through it fine, simply to spite whoever forbid her from doing it . She specialises in languages; she can communicate with pretty much everyone and everything in In'ilandrial. She is, unfortunately, rather lacking in loyalty; if it will benefit her to betray a comrade, she will do so pretty much without a second thought. However, she will infallibly get whoever she betrayed out of their unfortunate situation, in often creative ways. Nobody really likes her for this; she's not exactly the friendliest or most trustworthy person around. It is not uncommon to see her muttering to herself, and what she does mutter that people can understand makes virtually no sense, causing many to question her sanity. However, when this is mentioned to her, whoever did the mentioning often ends up in a rather uncomfortable position. So, can I join? This seems fun.
