Windows update does not crash a computer. When sp2 was first released it did have some bugs, but there all fixed (or most of them). The piont is it is critical that you update windows with sp2 and all critical updates. Your computer is in danger if you don't. I am still interested in how almost 70gb of space on your HD is used :? . Someone else said this but make sure all your scanning tools are updated before you scan. actually yes it does. I was getting SP 2 from Micro$oft, and my computer crashed, loosing every thing I had on the had drive..The funny thing was I was trying to fix a problem that came with he last win update, that caused my computer to shut off.

I use IE for RS for some reason FF won't load RS corectly, and when it does, it will automatically use "cofie cup java", which I hate, and can't shut off in FF

ah, how wonderfull to have to deal with a compleatly crashed computer. What caused the crash? I was doind win updates, and my system shut it's self down. You may asume it's a virus or spyware, but is wasn't/isn't. Any way, after 3 trys, I restored the system. The ongoing problem for me is this. My HP pavilion a305w loves to do 1 of 2 things randomy..doesn't mater what I am do ing (or not), doesn't mater what "mode" I'm in, I don't evan have to be running windows (it's crashed when I was in the bios controle pannel) The most common thing this 'puter does is reboot, again doesn't mater what I am doing, and it isn't virus or spyware...the system is not overheating..sometimes several times in a row (not a virus) a month ago, the computer has been starting to playing a new trick on me. again doesn't matter what I am doing, or not doing, bla, bla, bla... it will sort of shut off. the power light will turn orange-ish yellow (from it's normal blue), and the activity light will be sollid...and the computer isn't prosessing anything.....the moniter also goes into hybernation....every thing is locked out (keybord, mouse, e.t.c.) The only way to shut it off, or reboot, is to unplug it from the wall w8 2 minutes, and plug back in, nothing else works... Any body take a crack at what is going on? The people who don't read the post, and surgest viruses, scumware, or overheating, will be tossed out the window.
