  5. Thats pretty sad, but heh its a private school and private schools can do whatever they want lol
  6. gondeath, that has been up there for a LONG time... i would type of a list of all the other things jagex has promised us and never came through on, but i don't think thats necessary to make my point ;)
  7. I'd just like to point out one thing to the editor... They have one, there is a link on the top right on the forum index page (and only there). I do admit, its an awful search feature... you MUST chose which forum to search, and the search feature is only accessable from the main index, as i just said... but atleast its something. The fact that all posts are deleted once they break page 50 also compounds the matter... if u are looking for an old post its likely to be gone. :x
  8. Owning a TI83+ or compatible calculator is absolutely required in all math classes at my school from Algebra 2 and up, they are not provided by the school we need to own them. Currently the school is distributing ti84+'s, they buy them in bulk and can sell at about 10% discount heh. Theres just certain things we do, that would be rediculous without the aid of a calculator. Something like linear or quadratic regression (which goes back to alg2 heh) is possible without a calculator... but it would take u like 20-30 mins to do the same problem a calc can do in 5 seconds. The technology exists in the real world, people use it.. so it only makes sense that they are going to teach you how to use it in school. At this point though, in my calculus course we only rarely use calculators.. they are more important in the alg2 and precalc courses. Although the use of calculator still can save us alot of time, especialy for checking answers :).
  9. That is my assumption, i would just like to make sure... I googled it and didn't find anything that suggested there was any fact behind it.
  10. Yep apparantly the chair of the math department at my school recently returned from some sort of regional math teacher get-together where she was informed that MirageOS is a "virus" that "eats away at your memory" (because flash memory tastes good :P). Anyway, this rumor (i'll call it a rumor in an effort to imply that it is false) was quickly spread to all of the math teachers at my school, and they are telling all their classes to "delete mirageOS imeadiately kay?".... MirageOS was originally designed for the TI83+ (long b4 84's existed), and I have been running the app for roughly 3 years on my 83+ with no serious problems. I do admit that certain games often lock up, commonly resulting in RAM-clears, but it is always certain games and only those games that cause problems, it has NEVER been necessary for me to delete my MirageOS in order to regain calculator functionality or functionality of mirage itself, it has always been mirage programs that have caused problems, and not the OS itself. I bought an 84+ Silver last year, and ported all of my programs over to it, including mirage, and i soon learned that mirage generally runs alot slower on it. Aside from the fact that i have to scroll down a list of 50 apps in comparison to it being the 3rd option on my 83+, it opens slower, and takes longer to load and unload games. Anyway, further explanation from my math teacher, he claims that the problem occurs after "consistant use of mirage for a period of about 6 months". I've had it installed on my 84 for about 10 months with no problems, although ive opted out of using it often, in preference of gaming on my 83 because it runs faster. Needless to say however, I have NEVER noticed any problems except for the slowness. My teacher also suggetsed that he *might* have been told that this issue was only with 84+ and 84+silver, and not the older models, but he wasn't sure exactly what he heard. Anyway, just wondering, who else is being told similar propoganda? who thinks there is any fact behind it? is it just a conspiracy to try to get kids to stop playing games? has anyone experienced any serious problems?
  11. Heh you guys can hate apple all you want, but they dominate the market despite the fact that their products cost considerably more than comprable models from other companies, its just perfect design, their players are more like art pieces than gadgets these days... and heh, i dunno, but they are certainly selling like wildfire, apple can't make nano's as fast as they are selling  My nano shipped today, should have it in a few days *dances*.
  12. omg award for nigerian scam letter, wewt :D
  13. Find the derivative of ( (x^2 - cos(x) ) / (x^3 + sin(x) ) )^4 no, thats not my homework (i don't get such rediculous problems), but u look bored so tackle some calculus ok :D
  14. I loved it :) JUst had to comment on one thin... blueprints are not edited.. the original plans can be edited and reprinted as blueprints, but the blueprints themselves are not editted
  15. Your brain functions stop, the chemical processes inside ur body cells slowly come to a halt. Over time your corpse is eaten my bacteria and other decomposing lifeforms. Assuming that you were buried in the ground, the chemicals produced by the decomposition of your body will help feed weeds growing on your gravesite. Your friends and family will mourn for their loss (not yours ;)) and once they die aswell, you will be long forgotten unless you did something noteworthy of rememberence in your life, in which case your life will be summed up by a sentence or two in a textbook that someone is required to study in class 100 years after your death, and they will complain because they can't remember how to spell your name correctly.
  16. one thing i noticed, he said steel plates were 275 xp each, first i read that and i said "um no" and then i realised he was factoring in smelting aswell. So yeah, those bars did have to be smelted, but really, who smelts? the low smithers who cant make plates, they smelt everyone else's bars... so really i think the smithing factor is off by alot... if I asume that none of that 46bill smtihing xp was achived by smelting (which is almost as bad as asumming all of it was) then it would be an additional 94billion geepee originating from the alchemy of steel plates... I would guess that the actual discrepency is closer to half of that, some people do smelt... but still thats 47billion, throwing duke's estimates off by over 10%
  17. I once fell backwards when running on wet grass and broke my forearm
  18. hmm what shows up in place of imageshack pics? red x? could you have inadvertantly blocked the site? either with your firewall, or some other monitoring software? i know its a right click image on every picture that displays for me to "block images" from whatever site its hosted at"... i think that comes from my firewall
  19. pretty sure the regulations on all CollegeBoard test are: which I think pretty much means all TI graphic calcs are permitted for highschool, most teachers are going to expect you to have a ti-83+ or the equivalent (ti-83+ silver, ti-84+ and ti-84+ silver are all basicly the same calc lol) i personally own a ti-83+ and a ti-84+ SE, i use both of them on a regular basis... i had to buy the 83 freshman year... and I write alot of advanced calculator programs, which run about 3-4 times as fast on my 84 as they do on the 83 (which is why i bought the 84 last yeaR)... thats the major difference between the two (aswell as alot of included geometry-related apps which so far i have found useless) of course, the memory on the calc progressives as you move up the list... so thats also nice the ti86/ti89 aren't standardly used in most highschool programs, although a friend of mine had a ti89 and i remember it basicly did everything for you.. he used to check his answers, but he couldnt really use it to do the problems because he was required to show work
  20. Sounds interesting.. I'm assuming you have alot more planned out that u havn't posted. Coding a mmorpg is no easy task (and certianly one that would be rediculous if not impossible to do in VB). You're not going to find someone here who would write it for you (as it would take a single highly skilled programmer years to write up such a game even if you designed everything for them). If you are truly serious about this, you can look around at different companies that already produce computer games and pitch the idea to them.
  21. really? :x must try this with a non invisionfree board
  22. yes on both browsers, on both pcs... and i've tried clearing the cookies, and that hasn't solved anything :x
  23. Anyway yeah, this is driving me crazy and no one seems to know what is causing it or how i can fix it... (and other people are telling me that they have never had the same problem...) Every time i click a link on one chatboard that leads to a different chatboard (example the link in my sig) it results in me being logged out from the target site. any ideas? :x btw im using a pretty much brand new pc, running windows XP, this also happens on my other computer, which runs windows 98 edit: another note, happens in BOTH IE and FF :(
  24. lol thats what my schedule is going to look like senior year pretty much, all AP this year (junior) AP Chem Honors English 3 French 4A AP CalculusBC Intro to Java Phys Ed 2
