HTML5 beta discussion
I thought about this for a bit and found it would be doing more good than harm when the Beta HTML5 goes live in less than 24 hours. I felt that many players will get plenty of time to relish in the new cleint, but also a great many will not. Many players will be left guessing how things might look or feel from those who post on these forums or the RSOF. So with that thought in mind I thought it might be a nice gesture to create a thread dedicated to posting information and mechanics behind it all. Many pictures are welcome and how-to guides for changing things will be included on the main post. Those willing to help keep a main post updated would be nice as well. Please submit all your noteworthy interface layouts for the NIS alpha. Explain their usage and purpose please! This is fun stuff so lets explore together! NOTE: Please keep the awesome pictures in hide tags. Creating a "client" for your desk top - credit to HugeJoystick [hide] To those people complaining that there wont be an HTML5 Client and asking if we can make our own like we did for the EoC beta, the answer is: yes you can (just in a different way) Because RS3 will only work with Chrome, you will need to download Chrome in order to follow these instructions. 1) When the HTML5 beta is released, start the game in Chrome (you only need to do it like this the first time). 2) While on the RuneScape game page, click on the Chrome settings button (looks like 3 horizontal lines in the top right corner just under the "*"). 3) Mouse over Tools . 4) Click on Create application shortcuts... . 5) Choose the options which work best for you depending on where you want to launch the game from. 6) Close Chrome. 7) Click on the newly created icon (on your Desktop, Start menu or Taskbar) and enjoy your new HTML5 client. Note: This client still technically runs as a Chrome window, you just don't have the tabs or address bar getting in the way (it has just as much room as the current RS client). Note2: You can do this with the current game as well if for some reason you cant install the downloadable client. However you will still need Java installed.[/hide]

How many RuneScape originals from 2001 are still here?
Been around since february 2002. Looong time... Doubt I'll ever quit.

I agree... Could have put more into it.

I don't care any more. Don't tell me what I can or cannot say for advice. I've progressed as much as anyone else in ports. If you want pure unbridled efficiency then don't listen to me. On topic I lost my first rocktail soup scroll. I was hoping it would come fast, but maybe not.

I get the feeling that it's more about attitudes than the advice itself. I think the main reason why most people tend to resent the "mathematicians" on this forum is not because they know more about efficiency than everybody else. It's because they know more about efficiency than everybody else and they'll start getting vicious if/when you give them any opportunity to remind you that they know better than you. Edit: bruno proves my point :P No, you don't ridicule them; you simply put them on your ignore list. When you ridicule someone, you damage your integrity and credibility. At least someone gets it... I give you credit for finding the best suitable situation, but don't pretend like your path is the only one worth walking. Your values aren't the same as every other human being on this planet.

11-Dec-2012 - Player-Owned Ports
I get the feeling that it's more about attitudes than the advice itself. That is why it bothers me. I can tell someone how I feel something should be played, but I wont outright say they're wrong like you have. Don't tell me what I can and cannot say because it doesn't mathematically give the highest coefficiency rate. I don't give a hoot about high efficiency rates.

It's not a bad setup. A bad setup is telling someone they'll be fine using the skulls crew of pincer region voyages is fine. Why happened to being mindful of someone's play style without undercutting their interests.

Yes, god forbid that someone uses logic and statistics to prove something is better. It only becomes an issue when someone feels the need to call someone out for doing what they want versus being maximally efficient.

I can't stand statistical arguments... God forbid someone decides to play by preference.

Other than keeping basic crew even 3 ox head and 3 JoD is fine. Oh and one merch since two seems like a waste, but if you want to push it then a second is fine.

Runescape 3 is coming this summer...(BTS Bonus edition)
One of my biggest concerns in being able to save interface loadouts and camera zoom. I currently have the 15-19 off and plan I hitting up beta heavily. I realize that a lt of the interface changes players make will be dependent on their current activities. One interface that seems to be fairly interesting is the centered design and should suffice for most play styles.

Really?... You know they are working on graphical updates just as constantly as regular content updates yet you would you say that. Ideally though one place that needs its immensely would be the feldip hills area and possibly the whole of karamja. Yanille would obviously be included with the feldip hills. Let me restate this: jagex uses filler numbers for their interfaces in the rs3 interface screenshots. It makes perfect sense that they would use fillers for everything else too. Um, hardly? So many areas are straight from the beginning of RS2, and here we're going on RS3. It's really quite ridiculous that 3/4 of the map and countless quest areas are going to be the same as they've been since release. I really don't think it would have been asking too much for them to hold off "RS3" before they could at least update most of the surface. We're lucky to get a graphical overhaul a month, and even then it's usually confined to a small area (case in point - Castle Wars, and before that, Slayer Tower, and not even the monsters!). Maybe we'll get a Magic Guild update next. They'll put up some new walls and doors but leave the wizards in 2003 bliss and call it a day. We can hold off updates until the end of time for the sake of a few who would nitpick minor issues, but what does that accomplish? Holding off rs3 doesn't mean that all the coders go and start making the rocks in the mudskipper cave look nice. It means that mudskipper cave's rocks have taken priority over massive gameplay improvements. Yes, it really doesn't make any sense. It proves nothing so why are you bothering? The graphical overhauls are at a constant refresh rate where top end reworks eventually becomes obsolete. Granted you have a point. Runescape doesn't rely on some grand framework like most MMOs. They are more like a Lego building.

Adventure reroll was crap.

Send out a 6 lacquer at 85% and 5 plate at 83%. That will be put at 12 plate to tetsu legs and 65 lacquer to death lotus chest. I also managed to get an adventure reroll which I'm going to use real soon here.

I'm just as big of a fanboy of jagex as I am of blizzard if not bigger. Blizzard has their own bugs that make it past their months long public test realms so in my books jagex and blizzard have fairly equal grades in my books on bug squashing. Calm yourself, weather the storm or say inside and pout while everyone else has fun dancing in the rain.

Failed the 13 plate voyage and a 5 chi voyage. I'm so pissed... Just when you think you'll get a break.

I'm personally not a fan of this upcoming update. I feel that the duel arena needs some more fun bells and whistles. Something along the lines of a coliseum-esque (akin to dominion tower) would be nice for getting away from things.

11-Dec-2012 - Player-Owned Ports
Just sent a joint voyage for 10 plate with a merch at 66%. I am praying it returns safely with 13 plate... That will put me at 5 plate from tetsu legs and a complete set.

Its nothing. When they make interface designs they use random number generators. A mod posted about this on an RSOF thread I read.

Yeah I guess it makes sense. I'm about 46 scrolls in.
