Great idea! Maybe there could be some sort of incentive for fighting, like castle wars. You could join the light side or the dark side, and if you win a round, you get a prize of some sort.

That's exactly why it's a bad idea. Just because they are super-rare still means people will get them and use them in cases like that. It should be like the genie lamps- not an automatic level up, but a certain amount of xp.

Well, if you are willing to work at it, woodcutting and/or mining would be your best bet. Merchanting is pretty hard to find good deals and selling for an inflated price, but pays off in the long run. Keep in mind you get a lot of noob offers and it takes a while to find a customer.
