  1. practically living on pure clan websites I am used to people typing "0mfg totially p00ned n99b lyk i owned yluo!!!one!!1111ONE" i cannot stand them personally. (grammar nazis) it's the internet, i don't think we need proper grammar to get/understand people's points or views. as long as it's understandable i have no objection. my grammar blows to begin with. at my university when i turn in essays, the teachers' final comments usually include something like "extremely well written, i recommend putting this into a writing contest. HOWEVER, your grammar needs a lot of work" so all the technicalities of english plague my writing...bleh
  2. sam..if i may: they are not ridiculing you for your grades. they are ridiculing your attitude. b/c if you are lazy with school, then most likely you will be lazy in other aspects of your life, including a job. Ah, yes, just like Einstein and countless other mathemathicians/scientists/physicists who failed their classes at school simply because they thought it was a waste of time or they hated their teachers.I must say it's very ignorant to say "if your grades are low, chances are you are lazy in every other way as well". If you have a brain, you realize grades are nothing more but print marks on a paper. There are countless people that didn't even fully graduate and they earn quite nicely. Want a corny example? Bill Gates. He's a dropout. I still fail to see how he's lazy or a failure, he has earned more in his life than probably all the people on off topic forum will ever earn in their lifetimes. You can predict things only to a certain extent, and IMO that does not cater to life as a whole. I know this because my father came from relatively poor conditions. Last summer we went to visit his best childhood friend in California, he has no education whatsoever, and he has become a millionaire because he worked up his way in a shoe franchise and now owns five stores. He started simply as a storage operator. Education doesn't make you smart, that's something that comes from your personal observations, reading the news, developing yourself mentally. Smartness is entirely different than book knowledge. If you don't know how to apply knowledge you can have ALL the PhD's in the world and you'll earn less than a guy who's a dropout. Now, again, I don't discourage people from educating themselves, just don't try to feel superior to people who may have less motivation to do so if they can justify it. Believe it or not, despite the supposed odds, they may be earning more one day. you are simply taking rare cases and using them to your advantage. i will admit, i have learned more when i was working 3 jobs at one time then i have ever learned in school. you learn much more when you are actually performing a job than sitting in a classroom memorizing useless drivle. but employers DO NOT CARE. my dad knows a lot more than any programmer with a college education where he works (he was in the military for 10 years and did not go to college) but b/c a little piece of paper says so, he knows "less" then them, deeming him a lower salary. the only thing that keeps his salary in competative range with these "useless college kids" as he calls them is his superior resume. of course you do not need an education to work: construction, labor, your own business, etc...but an eductation hones your skills and allows you to have more options. my grades are suffering in calculus b/c me and my teacher have a "hate/hate" relationship. i cannot stand her, and she cannot stand me...I know i won't get a B in there for the semester so I make her job a living hell for being a B to me in the first place. i tried getting help from her and she just tells me to go look at my notes or talk to another student...so i understand where youre coming from with "hating" ones teachers. anyone can get money, but one thing you cannot buy is an education...that lasts forever.

  4. Um. As far as I know, communism is just a 'part' of socialism, at least that's what I've been told on my history lessons & just read on wikipedia. Just that communism is getting to socialism by revolution, and that's why it takes the whole socialism (usually) further. Altough I could be totally wrong. ;) And I don't see why democracy can't exist in a communist country, 'cause I've been told that communism is the "ultimate democracy". It just hasn't been organized very well, if you know what I mean. :P And I live in Finland, which is a pretty socialist country just like Sweden, and the socialist party has been elected again and again for a long time. I live in Finland and it's all really equal in here, and I like it. And just as BlueTear said, the public school system is working really good. I'm not yet old enough to vote, but I'll probably vote for one of the leftist parties. :3> My first post on the forum, btw. i don't exist anywhere on the board of current types of gov't/party. i've taken every survey that "places you" and none really made much sense. on the compass it put me in facism and communism together at the same time? lol... anyway..both types would work great if men were not so greedy. (men as a race)
  5. I didn't even know it was you Monkey...and I wasn't really flamming you..just giving advice tis all. and they really have no idea anyway..difference between going to college and being a failure at life
  6. AP tests are full of cabbage. they "test" how well you would do in the class at the college lvl...but they are MUCH harder than college tests IMO.
  7. calling us fools with your attitude on grades is very ironic. sure you have more semesters to pull it up...but an F counts as a 0...and you need certain courses to graduate = summer school to make it all up which = less of that fun you talk about Lol buddy, I still got time to pull them up. An f doesn't count as a 0..I live in america..Where do you live? What do you mean 0. This is dumb I'm done argueing about this. I do what I please mmk? I don't need people I don't know on the internet to lecture me about the way I live my life. i live in the united states as well... an F counts as 0 towards your gpa is what i meant i am not saying you NEED an education to get through life...but you are saying you want/will attend college and with your attitude/performance you will not

  9. without knowing people even though you have money to pay tuition..a college does not want their rank to go down b/c of grades you received in high school...all F's? you won't even graduate High school

  11. hehe thankies. yeah it's treating me pretty well. i love the people and the atmoshere. i like all of my professors...and most of my TA's...but my calc teacher can...ugh. put it this way..i have been sick with mono for 2 weeks and missed a quiz b/c of it. i had a doctor's note and she would not let me take it.. :wall: so i had to receive a 0. i get all my answers right on the tests...but proving answers is like 90% of the work.. she is just a B lol. i need a 90 on the final and an 80 on my next test for a B in there..dunno if i can pull it off youre majoring in what? im majoring in aeronautical engineering atm...but i got my work cut out for me as that's the 2nd hardest major at VT (so i hear)
  12. yes...it sure is lol where did you end up going Punkie? with a 3.7 GPA you could get a job offer from any1 lol..you got nothing to worry about i have a 2.6 atm...pretty avg. GPA for a freshmen who figured it wuldn't be much harder than HS..i can pull a 3.0 b4 the semester is over tho i dunno how im struggling to get a B in chemistry when it's the same material as in high school i have a C in calc b/c of my TA..she's horrible and her grading is horrible. i make same mistakes as my roomate and he gets minus 1 on his test but i get minus 5...bleh i need to play catch up next semester :-w
  13. the United States is all about "quick, easy...and always faster"..so i never have time for breakfast...but i'd love it if i did. i am not waking up at 6:00 AM (did it during high school...but i dont wanna lol)
  14. tbh i don't know what i would do. my mom was a HUGE crack head as a teenager and went to rehab. when she found out she was pregnant with me she turned her life around and gave it all up. i'm sorry you are not as fortunate as i was but i would report her to the police...it may hurt but it will be best

  18. funny you should bring this up. when i was 16-17 i planned my Eagle scout project to acheive the rank of Eagle Scout (eagle scout) i couldnt think of a really good idea so i decided to talk to the person in charge of the homeless ministry at my church..and got an idea i held a toy drive for homeless children for christmas..kind of like toys for tots. i placed boxes at other churches, libraries, schools, etc...put up fliers...handed them out at places like walmart with my contact info... my goal was to collect 50 toys...and i reached well over 150  . anyway...after i collected em all i held wrapping sessions where we wrapped presents and put "age tags" on the presents to indicate what age it was designed for. i went to all the local motels and homeless shelters and got the names and ages of all the children around December 15th...and then on December 23rd i got a group of volunteers to hand out the gifts it was truly an amazing experience and i would encourage any1 to do something similar. i was rewarded with more than an Eagle Scout...i was blessed by seeing how much i had and how little others had..and it made me appreciate what i had. also i got attached to the kids. here are some pictures..im not sure if teyre allowed or not..if theyre not dont delete my post..just edit them out (im the one in the grey sweatshirt): [images removed - sorry no RL pics allowed. ~azn]

  21. i don't like being home alone solely b/c i AM ALONE lol. i like company
  22. that was another example that i was going to use with Lion...it's not just with sports either
  23. yeah now that i disagree with Blue. i completely agree that they should be able to vote...i dunno i just do not see them as the leader of course there are circumstances...and now when i think about it i can agree that when they are older (which is usually when they are high up in politics) they are much more rational
