Bet you never thought you'd see another xlippsx rate this...
This story may cause extreme laughter and or jealousy. You have been warned. So I was sitting at my comp doing my hw today when one of my oldest rs friends im'd me on aim and started talking to me about the pking updates. I talked to him about how much fun I had doing f2p bh right before I quit and how I had never tried p2p bh. He suggested I just buy some rag gear and spend a little time trying it out. "Why not?". I decided to give it a go seeing as a I wasn't too busy tonight and had finished all my work, so I logged on and bought 10 welfare sets from the ge (black dhide body/chaps, addy full helm, msb, power ammy, snakeskin boots) and also bought 500 rune arrows/monks, some brews and sharks, and rune plate, legs, and a neitz helm for pen tanking. Also bought Dbow and fury and archer for some voiding if i felt like it. Anyway...I started pking and just kept getting destroyed. I was on my very last set of welfare gear fighting a level 121 in full dh with a red skull. My pray ran out, but i continued fighting even though my 99 range wasn't hitting at all on him. Long story short, he 48'd me and I cried at losing my last welfare set. I was discouraged and ready to log and call it a night, but I decided that a couple minutes of void dbowing would be fun. I entered the crater and saw the exact same guy still in the same spot fighting. I waited till he was done fighting then spec'd him for a 32-14. He still had about half hp left so I left the crater. However, the second I went back in, I saw a kill message for that guy. I flipped out. Free DH as my first ever p2p bh pk! I quickly went to the bank and got my "tank gear" and some sharks/brews. I went into the crater and luckily got a very close spawn I could see the pile from a good ways away and my jaw literally hit the floor. Behold: I didn't even bother to loot the dh because I was ready to just run, luckily I didn't need to though because when the guy who saw my skull go red attkd and I told him I got ags, he offered to box me (I shared him a zammy plate after). Here's me with it outside of bh: Oh and here's my current outfit for you to rate (so this doesn't get locked): No I'm not coming back to Rs, I'll probably end up selling the AGS and upgrading to a white phat  Rate /10

Where would you be in life without Runescape?
Can anyone possibly translate this for me? Wow...

Where would you be in life without Runescape?
I thought it was pretty obvious that I did not mean physically healthy...obviously smoking is bad for you. What I meant is that it's a much more socially and emotionally healthy use of your free time, as opposed to hunched over a computer for hours on end. What i dont get is that your on these forums.. posting away.. telling us how we all need to go and get lives... but how is sitting infront of a computer posting on forums (for a game youve supposedly "quit") any better then actually playing the game? Because I only browse general discussion and when I do, I'm on for no more than 5 minutes. Notice how my post count isn't very high for the 2+ years i've been a member of this forum? It's also a way to keep in touch with people I met through the game and to keep in touch with a community that I grew to love while I was playing Rs.

tbh anyone that blames rs for a bad social life/grades is stupid, if they put a game before real life :? it is possible to have a good social life and play rs regularly, in moderation. seeing as I can already juggle work, family, friends and rs and still have happy and balanced life, i don't see why i should quit, or anyone else for that matter I don't think anyone puts Rs before real life on purpose, it's just that a lot of people can't help it. I (as well as many others) find myself easily addicted to things and with something like Runescape, it can be very hard to keep it in check. However, those who put it before real life because they've classified themselves as "nerds" and have given up hope on a social life are just wrong. Hit the gym, try new things, take a few risks. Why should you quit? Because literally anything is a better use of your spare time than sitting in front of a computer day in and day out.

Try doing some "stuff you shouldn't be doing"-that's called living I meant stuff like drinking and drugs. Runescape kept me off that path for a few years lol Drinking and drugs are fine in moderation (and when I say drugs I'm really just referring to pot) and in many ways healthier than playing Runescape. I'm not saying you should go out and get drunk or smoke pot every night, but when you look back on your life you'll remember the times you were out with friends and having fun, not that time you got a hilt drop. [/hide] I completely agree with xlippsx, but hey, that's just our point of view. Fair enough, it just kept me from getting hooked at a younger age when i had no friends, but now i party it up with friends. lol Good to know =D> The realization that I needed to quit occured the day I got back from summer vacation. I'm currently a senior in highschool and have always been somewhat popular, maintaining a 3.7 GPA and a solid group of friends. I started drinking as a sophmore and smoking as a junior, but that first day back from summer break, my friends and I went to a party and afterwards (about 2 a.m.) I sat in my room getting ready to log onto Rs and thought to myself, why do I do this? None of my friends play runescape or any video games for that matter and all Rs did was hold me back. I strongly advise anyone reading this to really contemplate why they play, and to take my advice and just quit. I'm just upset I can't get back those countless hours I wasted on this game and turn them into something, anything else.

[/hide] Hmm, smoking for 30 minutes instead of playing RuneScape for 30 minutes...yeah, sure is MUCH more healthier than RuneScape. You play the moderation card, so do I. Stop assuming everyone's gonna be the 40-year-old-virgin. Ironically though, since everyone's saying their grades will be better, mine got worse...Having As and Bs with RuneScape, then dropping to Bs and Cs, not doing much of my homework when I don't play RuneScape much...Guess fishing was a better-homework do'er than playing a FPS or raiding in WoW. My personal opinion is that smoking pot on occasion with friends (no more than 2-3 times a week) is much healthier and a much better use of your time than playing Runescape for 30minutes a day.

Try doing some "stuff you shouldn't be doing"-that's called living For me Runescape has become such a part of my life that the only reason I still want to play is out of habbit. Without Runescape, my life would have been much better. After only 2 months off the game I've bettered myself in a myriad of ways and can't possibly see myself returning full time to Rs, ever. I think people (myself previously included) are just afraid to take risks...what's easier, clicking on a pixelated rock over and over again or asking out a girl? "Training" agility or going to the gym? The reason people are so dependant on Rs is that it's the easy way out-and to all you people saying Rs has bettered you, who are you fooling? ~Lipps

Partyhats on the Grand Exchange... What the?
The best option to. However, it can only be temporary. After they level out, they would move far to quickly. Unless Jagex likes and allows that, which is doubtable at this point. It doesn't seem doubtable. Think about it, if bedman is right, and they lowered the trade margins so they can't go down as fast, that must mean they don't want them to crash correct? If they WANTED partyhats low, they would keep the margins high and let it plummet 10 - 20m at a time. This must mean Jagex doesn't want them to crash, no? I'm pretty sure once they level out they'll go up again, and be higher than they used to as well. Looking at this situation from Jagex's perspective, they can't raise the sensitivity of partyhats as well as keep the margins the same. Why? They've learned from their mistakes. If partyhats started shooting down 10-20mil a day, ACIDY and all of the other elite merchanting groups would have a field day hording them and then releasing them-this would result in the same type of cycle that we've seen with the AGS, SGS, or any other item that was deemed "unsellable" for a prolonged period of time. By allowing the partyhats to drop more consistantly but at a lower amount per day, partyhats, once bought out (which will happen if they continue dropping at a consistent rate like they did today), will become comprable to 3rd age in both rarity and amount traded. If I'm correct in my thinking and Jagex sees this the same way I do, they will then raise back to their original price (more than likely a little lower tbh) and the cycle will start over. Just like every other item in the G.E., partyhats are in a everlasting "sin curve", it's just the slowest moving curve to date. Hope that made some sense #-o
