    WTf?

A 19" screens native res is 1280x1024. A 19" Widescreens native res is 1440x900. Native res is pretty much the max res, I guess your monitor did not support the res you tried to make it display.
  2. I can remember raiding. Crashes, losing a spot in the boss kill (luckily they waited for me before they opened the chest, however they can't do that now, they patched it, heh.) Also the black/white checkered texture bug. Slow FPS, all the causes and symptoms of a incoming crash. Alot of people used to restart game after every boss kill or so just to make sure, not what you really want to do.
  3. Fixed. Sorry I had to do that ever since I've seen this: --- Though I bet some will laugh at this: http://www.endsights.com/?p=352 Still set for the Xbox 360 eh? =P Oh, did anyone know that the game director quit AoC, or all of funcom after 16 years? http://news.filefront.com/age-of-conan- ... isfaction/ Funcon, Failcon, Failcom, what ever, they're all pretty much right. And they're still going for a 360 release? ... Sigh. A MMO like AoC won't work with a 360 controller. And how are they planning on patches? Should scrap that and fix the PC version for their paying suscribers. Hurry up Aion!
  4. Overclocking is not over rated... It can be suprisingly safe and can be pretty easy if you know what to do. Always up the FSB in small increments, never jump up by 200 or so unless you know what you're doing, otherwise, small increases, running a stress test (OCCT, for example) every change for abit. After you think you've found a good stable speed, run OCCT or any other CPU stress test all night (8 hours or so) to be sure it is stable.
  5. Not really. Though, lower the better obviously. Fine getting up to the high 50's. Mine is sitting at 48c atm, small over clock (AMD 4800+ X2). I'd like it cooler, but that'd be nit picking really. Will problly pick up a case fan soon though (stock cooling). As for a program you can use to overclock your CPU. I belive Clockgen allows you to do that, but Clockgen has been removed from the CPUID website for some time now.
  6. You are right. WAR does have enough differences to not be considered a "WoW clone" although people will usually stick to the combat system and (apparent) aesthetics of the game to label it as a clone (even though it looks almost nothing like WoW if you compare them). And right-on with the AoC comment. :) I think AoC can be turned around if done right. I hope it does, I really do. But I don't think Funcom can do it. I go to the forums and still see major problems with the game that have been there since launch (and even beta testing apparently.) So yea, don't bother with that for now. There's a reason why people call them Funcon :) Was reading WAR's latest patch.... Impressive, very impressive.
  7. Syphilis is the most common STD in the world. Its obviously doing something right. Popular =! Good. You're comparing a STD with a game? A popular game must be good if a large number of people are liking it. Games = positive. STD's = negative. A popular negative (which is an STD in this case) doesn't make it good, it makes it bad. Something that's positive (in this case a game, could be anything, a car, stereo, pc, song, whatever) must mean it's good if a large number of people like it. Everyone has an opinion, but your logic is awful. Exactly, you'd better like compare it to Ben & Jerry's ice cream, it seems to be the most popular so it has much chance to be the best one, why else would everyone be so positive about it? But he's right, CS is crap
  8. Fully agree at AoC being a grind after 55 (though there's a new 55-60 region I think). The quests in AoC were fun, while they lasted, wasn't near enough. I tried a Marauder, which I got to level 15. He was ok I suppose, but I kinda got bored of him, not WAR's fault, I'm more of a ranged DPS guy, I fancied a change, but it just wasn't me. So I rolled a Bright Wizard, which I'll be honest, I had a crap load of fun with in scenarios. But I couldn't see my self doing those over and over. Actually, reminding me of Bright Wizard ownage in scenarios has kinda put WAR back on the cards for me. I have to admit it was pretty fun. I'd have to know there was a ton of PvE in WAR to make me suscribe though I think, and WAR isn't a PvE game.
  9. Isn't that really true to a point for most MMOs on the market? AoC was the same pretty much through all the levels. WoW was certainly the same throughout the levels, even down to the mobs simply being reskins of older mobs. I think part of it is that you need to find a good guild in WAR , because after that you won't have a problem with empty PQ's (get guildies to come with you) or whatever else. The core questing mechanic is the exact same as WoW though. Sure, the game can change when the levels get higher. But the first 15 levels never were really that much fun. Not a good first impression, nor a good sign for what is to come. @The 2nd point. That is true but some MMO's try give abit of variety. The quests felt all the same, the PQ's were fun, but they were basicly the same. PvP is the only thing where it was never really the same. AoC did try mix it up abit. Each type of class (mage/rogue/soldier or w/e they were) had different story lines, the quests were mostly all different. WAR's quests seem to be "Kill this" "Find this" "Pick up this", AoC, again, not the best example for a variety in quests, but I never got bored of them. That is another thing, the story line in WAR wasn't as in your face as it could of been IMO, could of done some fun things with it. Again, there could of been major story line parts later in WAR, but I was too bored to even bother grinding to the higher levels to see if there was such a thing. Though I think it comes down to what you like most. The PvP is far better in WAR, AoC's PvP system is... Not the best, to say the least. WAR has that nailed. AoC has better PvE though IMO. No idea what the end game is like in WAR though, what's it like Nadril? Just endless PvP for fortresses?
  10. Both full games. I played WAR the day it came out in the EU. AoC... Few days after it came out in the EU, played that for ~700 hours before my guild broke down, and I lost all will to play. Patches can fix bugs, add content, but don't change the core gameplay. I was abit harsh on WAR I think there. It's not a bad game, but you only really see it shine if you love PvP, if you love PvP, there's no better choice than WAR.

  12. Having played both, WAR didn't even last a month on me. If you're not a huge fan of the PvP, I seriously reccomend you do not go with WAR. I tried to like the PvP in WAR, the scenarios are actually quite good. But the PQ's were almost always starting to be empty, scenarios were never ever full. The leveling is a grind. It is honestly the same thing every 2-4 levels. You start, do some quests, get level 2 easily. This is where it gets repeative. Every 2 levels you pretty much do the same thing, do the quests in the area, they'll get you 1 level if you're lucky (doubt they'll get half a level in the later levels? :\) do some PQ's for an hour to get a level, or do some PvP. Scenarios are the best way for XP, but like I said, rarely full, can take a while to find a game. AoC is no shining angel either. I did all the PvE content (which was pretty much all there was to do in AoC at the time, there is now a pvp system, can't comment on that though, wasn't playing when it was implented), cleared all the raid dungeons. Boring as hell after you've done it all once. Lots of bugs in raids, quests, etc. There's alot of balancing problems at the moment too. That being said, I am thinking about trying it out again in a few months time to see what's changed. If I had to choose which one to play, it'd be AoC, mainly because I can get in raiding guilds very easily and I think, if Funcom got their act together, it'd be a hell load more fun than I would ever have with WAR. If I had to choose one to start from scratch all over again, it'd probally be.... AoC. I find it more fun. None of the two are omg epic, but both of them have their pros and cons. I won't comment on the end game in WAR, but from 1-15, the game never changed, at all, I could of been doing 1-2 over and over for all I know. I'm going to be starting a MMO next year too... WoW is a maybe, I have a few I've been following (Huxley, Aion, maybe Guild Wars 2, dunno when that's out though.) Anything is just better than WAR for me.
  13. Something better? How about anything? Thanks for trying, though. FULL STOP. Counter Strike: Source and Counter-Strike 1.6 are the 2 most played FPS's in the world on PC I belive. Obviously doing something right. (And yes, I do mean respectively.)
  14. MMOFPS != FPS. MMOFPS = Massively Multiplayer Online First Person Shooter, games like Huxey (unreleased). FPS = First Person Shooters, games like CS, Warrock, Combat Arms, etc. On topic, free and good don't come together usually. The best free multiplayer FPS's about at the moment are Wolfenstien: Enemy Territory and Combat Arms. War Rock lags to hell. Honestly though.. Just download Steam and buy CS or CS:S, they're like $10 dollars, or buy TF2 if your PC can run it.
  15. If you're thinking of that white.. hut thing. Fairly sure they can come in from the roof. The best tactic I hear is the kids bedroom in the house, only downside is, it only works really well if you have real team-mates, not the AI. Way it works is 2 people watch the door, and 2 watch the window, when you hear the tank music, you jump out the window, kill him, once down you run back up. The other barn with the ammo up the ladders is a decent spot, but without a good team (and the AI are not a good team, they do not follow orders, or guard 1 spot, they are only good cause they follow you, and don't FF). That spot will be a hard ride with a not so good team, can't imagine it with the AI, unless you all sit in a corner and pray for the best.
  16. #-o You can't bash tanks away -.- You mis-understood, also didn't help I worded it badly. What I meant is, meleeing a tank 2-3 times will make him target you, allowing your team mate who's being pounded get helped up or just generally saves his life.
  17. Gonna go for Stand Tall later I think. Should of got it when I got "Unbreakable" (I think that's the name of the achievement, it's the one where you never use a med pack) but I went to bash a tank to get him off a team mate and he sent me across the room and downed me.
  18. Some of the achievements are abit buggy. But yea, @the boomer one, I guess it's "Don't ever get vomitted on" whether that's through an explosion or him puking on you. And what do you mean you killed a witch? To get that achievement you cannot kill or disturb a witch through the whole campaihn.
  19. Probably because you had the boomer for so long, and they didn't realise you were using it all the time.. The suckiest thing about the boomer is that it doesn't explode when it falls anymore :wall: I remember jumping down in the first map in the middle of all survirors, expecting to explode, but just standing there for a moment. I thought I was lagging so I didn't bother to puke, and suddenly I get shoved away and shot #-o The only point where Turtle Rock has failed in this game  Weird, I was sure they did explode from a long fall. There is a way, though, but it's kind of cheating. Bind a key to "kill" in the console, drop down, hit that key, you explode, and vomit flys all over the place.
  20. Got the vomit on all 4 survivours at once achievement, was in the scissor lift in the.. 3rd map of No Mercy. Soon as the puke wore off, I dropped down, and low and behold they shot me and I got another 3. Lots of points, lots of damage, and it was damn hilarious. Picking on awful players as the infected... Nothing more fun, lol!
  21. How long until we get The Winchester, then? I wanna get some red on me. Queen finale or gtfo. Lmao, that'd be hilarious, finale in a pub, Queen music plays, zombies start breaking through the windows... Oh god I want to play that now. And the server browser is fine to me... Does pretty much what every other server browser in a Valve game has done?
  22. @The second pic, I would of loved to been there when you hit the fork lift just after that room :D I agree some-what with Death Toll, ish. It's very easy to handle the horde, you have to be all outside with someone on the turret for the tank though. (talking about the finale). My favourite campaign would be... Dead Air, well, up until the the final map. I love Blood Harvests final map, as well as the church moment on Death Toll. Not a huge fan of the hospital in co-op, it's fun on versus though, maybe that is just because versus is hilarious altogether :D @megakiller, open up the devolper console (enable it in keyboard options if you haven't already) and type "openserverbrowser" w/o the quotes, that is a fully working (ish) server browser. I have no real problems with the match making now though, seems to work every time when me and a mate used it last night. Still, I used the server browser mostly because it's way better.
  23. Ew. Read some finales on expert strategies, they stand in very... Different places, not what I would of done. In Dead Air they stand to the right of a plane with backs up agaisnt the wall, the wall they stand at is to the right of the plane if you're at the back of it facing the tail, means they can quickly spread when the tank comes. No Mercy they sit in a closet with people shoving and people shooting. Actually good strats if your team is half decent. Also, I belive you can play ANY map in versus, Dead Air and Death Toll too, just they aren't properly supported (you won't see climb points or breakable walls) but it should load up and play fine, they aren't that balanced for it though.
  24. Got Cr0wned. One of the most nerve racking things in L4D I think, running up to a boss that can one hit you with a shotgun. :D
  25. Time to run around with a auto shotty on easy!
