Is your USB stick the right "format" ? Meaning, is it FAT32 or NTFS. Your BIOS might only accept one one of them. USB sticks are usually FAT32, I'd expect the BIOS to only accept NTFS but I may be wrong.
-
Can you get into the BIOS at all? If you can, revert to default settings. If that doesn't work download the BIOS drivers of the Gigabyte website (make sure you get the correct model, obviously) and put them on a USB stick. I believe Gigabyte boards, the P55 ones atleast come with the ability to flash the BIOS from a USB stick. If you cannot get into the BIOS at all you might have a rather serious problem and may have to send your mobo to Gigabyte or buy a new one. I dunno though.

With YouTube, WoW (patches, etc), I'd say no. Not a chance.
-
I dunno. The graphics card in that PC you linked isn't anything special. I may be wrong here but I think the 9600GT is better than that?
-
No, you should. Then you are more careful about what you download/install. Horrible advice. You can get trojans/viruses from visiting web pages. As for free AV's, I recommend Microsoft Security Essentials. I was very happy with that when I used it, wasn't obtrusive and wasn't a resource hog. I used Avast before that, ugly AI, obtrusive and hogged resources. However, if you're willing to pay for an AV, I cannot recommend Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 enough. It's an awesome AV, nice, easy to use UI, like MSE it didn't use many resources and didn't give you annoying pop ups.

Performance/cost wise, ATI is better. Proven many a times. If you're trying to bash ATI over this issue that they know about and are working on, then you clearly don't know about the error in the nVidia drivers a few weeks ago. It actually killed your graphics card. I dunno about you, but a massive cursor > £100-200+ graphics card dying. Actually, to me all the cards are the same, but people on this forum are biased towards Ati saying it's way better. All their cards are not the same. For performance vs cost, ATI is better than nVidia at the moment and has been sine their 4*** series cards. nVidia's latest cards aren't anything special at all either.

As far as I know you cannot have dual screens that way. You have to use your graphics card or motherboad's display ports. You cannot use both. You'll need to get a card with 2 display ports, shouldn't be that expensive if you only want it for dual screens. For $80 you should get a card capable of dual screens with ease.

Possibly. I'm using Windows 7 Pro 64bit. ATI 5770, but the problem is with all 5 series cards like me and Peter said. I installed the @BIOS program from the disk and opened it. In there you can select to update BIOS from Gigabyte Server. You should then get a server select. Select the USA server then after that you should get a list of BIOS versions you can update to, select F6. That's how I did it, and how other people did it from what I read when I was googling the problem. Your computer will freeze and it might beep while updating the BIOS, and you'll have to reboot afterwords.

That doesn't mean something is over heating. That could just mean a loud fan.
-
How you could even think it was due to overheating baffles me. Have you checked every screw in the case? Make sure nothing is loose. I've heard of similar problems related to the front USB panel on cases as well, if that helps.
-
Do you have an ATI graphics card? I had the exact same problem when I installed my ATI 5770. It's a well known issue. Want to know what the problem is? The BIOS. Gigabyte boards (I have the P55-UD3R) come with some software on the disc that can update your BIOS from within Windows. Use the disc you got with your motherboard/PC and install "@BIOS" I believe it's called. If the people above don't believe me feel free to google "Huge cursor gigabyte ATI 5770" or whatever. You'll find a bunch of threads about it.

Wut.

That is a big map.

I was asking, there is no need to act like PvP is all superior. Some people (I, for one) like PvE, no one coming to kill you while you're trying to do your quests or daily grind, I want to focus on end-game stuff, leveling my character and getting items. Call them carebare servers all you want, it's like me calling PvP servers wanabe-pro servers, cause that's all I see from PvP players, if you don't play PvP you're a girl. It's a load of crap. I don't mind PvP zones at all (Like the core WAR servers, hell, I had fun with that) but PvP-everywhere is not for everyone, no matter how much you PvP obsessed people wish to think so. My point is if you've spent even 5 minutes looking at the game you'd realize that it isn't another item grind like WoW, EQ2 or even WAR and AoC. There isn't a focus on an "end game" as you put it and there is certainly not a focus on getting rare loot, nor is there a focus on simply hiding 10, 25, 40 or whatever number of people in an instance fighting dragons. Again the best example (if this game does well) to compare to is Ultima Online. Most MMORPG's base themselves off of Everquest, this one does not. Thus it is not the same kind of experience as these other MMOs. Don't take this as me trying to hype the game, I'm not. I'm still crazy skeptical about the entire ordeal and will only wait until it's actually released to say anything. Yea, I knew the game was heavily PvP based, I was asking/wondering if it worked without the PvP aspect. And from what I've seen, it doesn't, that is that. It has promising features, alot I'd love to try out. Like you, I'll have a look at it after it's released and see if it lives up to the hype.

It doesn't need to dent WoW at all to be a revolution. There's far too many people playing WoW that would die rather than switch over to another MMO. Whether it's because of how good the game actually is, or from just plain addiction and fear of losing the items they've accumulated over time is debatable, since that is really what the game is anyways, and thus would be why the game is good. However there's several reasons why: - RTC (Even though now it's not revolutionary, it was back in 2003 or whenever) - PvP Oriented Game; Haven't seen one of these in a long time; Especially with RTC - Free For All PvP = No safe spots, always in danger - Skill-based, not level based, meaning you'll still be able to put up a reasonable fight against someone who has been playing longer, or you may just beat them if they suck in player skill - First-person view for combat, while third view for resting; Weird in an MMO - The world's land mass exceeds 8 hours to cross - The servers can old over 10k players per world - There's underwater exploration, with monsters and sea life & naval warfare (you can be a pirate by raiding ships and such) - GvG centered; with tons of seige weaponry, and building variety Too much for me to remember why it's different and will be popular. It doesn't have revolutionary concepts, but it has those concepts, and put them all together, or so say they. @First comments - Fair enough, was kinda ignorant of me to say if it doesn't dent WoW, it never did anything new. I will admit alot of those features sound very very intresting, I do like the sound of underwater exploration. Sadly I'm not a PvP kind of a guy, especially not fully open world PvP. Will there be PvE servers or is the game based on PvP and won't work without it? If they can pull it all off, it could be a very good game. Then again, remember AoC. Hyped to hell, WoW killer, all that, look at where it's at now.

Don't quite get why people are calling this the saviour of MMO's. It has a good following from what I've seen, sure, but it probally won't dent WoW at all. I'm sure it'll be a good game but I don't get what the hype is about. Someone care to explain why this is so much better than (fans words, not mine) than over MMO's?

With the games you play .. Hardly ever. And No Vista is NOT good os at all. Xp is far superier and runs alot more efficently esp for games. Epicly Bias (I dislike Vista my self, XP user) but w/ SP1 it's not THAT bad now. If you don't have a high spec PC, you'll have problems, (you need atleast 2gb of RAM to run Vista smoothly). With those upgrades, OP, you have nothing to worry about.
-
Ignore the Vista haters for now. With a 9800GT and that CPU, your PC will be hitting 100fps+ always on HL2 at max settings, the newer Source games (TF2, L4D) will also be able to run on max, L4D the FPs may dip to 40 or lower in fire fights but you'll have no problems running any of the Source games out at the moment.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo! Timesplitters D: Best multiplayer game ever.

Burnout Paradise wasn't that good IMO. GTA IV shouldn't of got GOTY either. The game got so damn boring.
-
Cheap? Maybe... But it's a valid tactic. If you were in the zombie apocolypse, you sure as hell would hide in a place where they could only come from one way. But yea, you only really need it on Expert, it works well on Versus too. Whole point of L4D's replayability is to find different strategys and tactics to complete the levels. You can also hide at the other end of the corridor in the room with a few hosipital beds, the wall to the far right (as you walk in) is very handy too, the hordes and bosses will spawn behind there allowing you too shoot them through the wall (you can hear them), though that is a really cheap tactic.
-
That's not confirmed, but it is most likely what's going to happen. If your PC can run it, getting it for a PC is a no brainer (seriously). You have free DLC, constant updates, community maps, mods, skins, and whatever. The replay value on the PC version is much much higher. I personally can't wait till the SDK is released and some mods start appearing.

I got that no healing one on easy, finished with 1hp (using no med packs doesn't suit my style of play, lol). Did most of the finale (Dead Air) with 1hp, it was actually really fun, knowing if I got hit once I'd get downed, so I stood on the truck and bashed and shot at everything. Even though it was on easy, it wasn't easy, if you've stood on the truck before you'd know, because they can come from all angles, and with 1hp, if they smacked you once, good night. Have yet to get that hunter headshot one, I'm getting real good at bashing mid air hunters though.
