  1. Windows has a program that's called Remote Assistance that does exactly what you're asking. XP to 7, not sure about versions before XP. You both need MSN accounts.
  2. I've recently got a new computer. It's running MSE and Spybot (no resident shield with Spybot though, I don't use TeaTimer), and I have a secure setup with Firefox. When I scan, the scans come up clean. When I scan in safe mode, the scans come up clean. I still worry somtimes, however, that there may potentially be some kind of malware on my computer. That's just how I am. I'm paranoid and OCD, and it even gets to me with my technology... how do you know for sure that a PC is clean?
  3. Some hacker probably tried to bruteforce your account, and locking your account is how Google tried to protect your personal information. I've been a Google user for at least 4 years; verifying an account by text message was originally how you got into the Gmail program. And why you're accuse them of forcing users to create new accounts, when they have a text method verification process in place to limit the number of new accounts?
  4. Hey fellow coders... over the years I've self-taught myself many languages of code, and I'd like to consider myself very skilled. However, my problem is, I only know web and engine-based languages - ex. php, Javascript, and random engine-specific codes. That's great if I want to build a sweet website, or mod a custom gun into a game - but I want to do more. What I'd like to do is learn a 'program' programming code (C++/Python/Java) so that I can design and develop personal projects that run on systems... not web browsers or with-in other programs. I want to be able to make personal chat clients, widgets, games, and so on. I'm assuming most of you have already grasped what I'm asking, because I've read up on the 'What are your current projects?' thread in this subforum. So, what do I do? I know a bit about the aforementioned codes but I don't know which one(s) I should learn... my friend recommends Python, but that has to run through an interpreter all the time, doesn't it? - So I wouldn't be able to compile my projects and distrubte them to friends (or so I think). Thanks for your help and time in advance, - Skilly
  5. Hey guys, I have an iTunes library of about 400 songs. I bought a new computer and I'm hooking it up tomorrow, and I'd like to move said music library to that computer from my old one. However, this computer has been acting up so terribly with crashes, glitches, bugs, that I don't want to take the chances of infecting my new PC with anything whatsoever. How can I safely transfer my music without fear of spreading anything? It'd really suck to have a brand new PC and it be trashed immediately, especially considering it's an expensive PC =P I was thinking I could burn a bunch of MP3 CDs for extra precaution, because MP3's can't carry anything, correct? Therefore, I'm thinking the CD wouldn't be able to carry anything malicious. Yeah... I don't really know what to do. I'm hoping someone here can help. Thanks in advance for your help and support, - Skill
  6. I give two-three days for the free diamonds to turn into nuclear bombs.
  7. $100 minimum budget... let's go with that? My room is very small... 10ft x 9ft... so I doubt I need that much... like I said, I don't know anything about sound systems :P I just want a nice one.
  8. C'mon guys, is it that hard just to link it for him? Guy's having some troublesome computer times :P Here is your link... click it, select the operating system, and it'll take you to a list of drivers. Graphics driver is (for me) the 4th item on the list... click it, then hit the download button beside 'Nvidia Geforce'. You should be good to go =) http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=1842155
  9. Sorry for the bump, but are you kidding me? C'mon guys! An entire week with no replies? Christmas is coming soon, help a TIF'er out here ._.
  10. I'm looking for a surround sound-ish/speaker setup for my room. I want to my have TV (cable, Xbox 360) running into it as well as my PC so that I can listen to music with it. However, I don't know anything about getting speaker systems other than just 2 regular speakers for a computer. What would you guys recommend?
  11. Looks like it's coming to an end from my opinion, it's not you being paranoid by far. We love you <3
  12. I'm interested in further responses for that question - is it needy or sweet? Where is the line drawn? I've been wondering lately.
  13. Hey, what do you know. I decided to be productive on this forum. There's this really cool site called MyPlate, which seems simple at first, but it seriously works. Although (shamefully) I don't use it anymore, when I did, I lost 10 pounds in very few weeks, without changing my exercise habits at all. You make an account, and every time you eat something, you just type it in on the site. It counts calories, carbs, and all that nutrition information for you. You set your weight loss goal per week, and your average activity level, and the it gives you a daily calorie goal. Every day, you just log on, and just type in the name of the food, drink, or exercise you just ate/drank/did. It has a huge database that can track everything from the large Powerade you just ordered at McDonalds to the microwavable cheese pretzels you have in your freezer. The concept probably seems simple and pointless to you, doesn't it? Well, being the computer users we mostly all are on here, we tend to snack a lot. I know I do (when I slack off using MyPlate). Tootsie rolls, hmm, I'll have a few. A little while later, maybe a cup of Easy Mac. The key to this simple program is that it makes you think. Why eat that Little Debbie when you only have 400 calories left today, which you need for dinner? So, if you're looking to loose some chubbiness, check this out. It helped me, and I hope by posting I can help out some TIF'ers too.
  14. I'll share my two cents. '=P' is also a powerful too. With texting, there really is no face-to-face intimacy at all, and while this is a bad thing, it also is a good thing. Take this example. If I sent: "Hey, I'm Mr. Right. I heard you were looking for me?" It could work, but then it's just a cheesy one-liner, and without the taken for granted gift of a reaction, you won't be able to know (unless she texts back something giving off the idea she is uncomfortable (i.e. "uhh....ok"). Now, let's look at that same text again. I'ma add a '=P' to it. "Hey, I'm Mr. Right. I heard you were looking for me? =P" Now, a cheesy one-liner has been turned into a flirty joke, which she'll probably find more attractive than pathetic. I wouldn't exactly recommend using this exact example, because I couldn't really think of anything else off the top of my head. But you get the point. While the whole in-person and audible dimensions are removed from a text conversation making it impersonal, there are a whole other set of tools just lying for you to discover and pick up.
  15. Well, I dated my best friend. The one who said she loved me, and everything else you could possibly say from "I can't imagine my life without you" to "I love you to the sky and back". Once I told her some completely had me, she got what she wanted...what couldn't have, and she dropped me, and ran straight back to the complete douschebag she screwed me over for before years ago. All of my friends told me she'd do it from the start, every single one of them. But I thought I knew her better than that. We were closer than I've ever been with anyone before, staying up until 5am most nights just talking to be together. Then she used me as a quick hit and ran straight back to him. Just another fix for a simple little [bleep]. The worst and most pathetic part about it is that she doesn't give a [cabbage] at all. Not for one moment. She got what she wanted, that's all that matters. Me, myself, I'm doing alright. I've been through enough [cabbage] before and a period of depression to know better than to relapse and go back into that horrible state. I'm flirting, being myself, and just ignoring her. Pretending to act like it doesn't affect me. But, it does. Everything seemed so perfect, and then this happens. I swear, no matter what, it's just an uphill battle for me. Always been [bleep]ed over, never have won once. But, the battle rages on. I'm really not sure why I posted this. I don't really need advice, just some feedback. I'm done for a while.
  16. Eh, tonight, I'm not really in the mood to make some account or have a friend post on my behalf, so, [bleep] it, what's up guys? Girl once screwed me over before and chose a lame guy over me, best friends both before and after until now, for a while she's liked me now, decided to give her second chance, got really close, etc etc etc...and here we are now. Basically, after her telling me how she couldn't imagine living without me, how much I mean to her, and all the memories, the kisses, the fun, I decided to ask her out. The thing? She just seemed completly 'meh' about it. Completely not caring. A total drop from like, a couple days ago. I figured she'd be really happy. Oh, but of course, in my life, things only get better. Days pass and we're a couple, and she just seems to care less and less, until today. My group of friends usually hangs out in town, so that's what we did. But she basically just ignored me the whole night. All the ILOVEYOU(SKILL)s are all gone from her phone, she went to talk to someone else while hanging with me, and when I tried to just simply reach out and hold her hand, she just pulled away. What?... Then, after we all were getting in our cars to head home, I had my closest friends wait for me to find her so I could do our usual hug/I love you thing. I find her, and I said "hey, where have you been? I've been waiting for like 15 minutes to say goodbye...". She says "Oh, well, goodbye, lol" and goes to talk to someone else. Well, hmm. Lot of personal information I wouldn't really want to share. But I'm just kinda fed up with how ridiculous this is right now and I honestly don't care. Even this earlier apparent woo love each other so important we are so close yay relationship isn't going to work out for me. Awesome guys. [/srsvent]
  17. Whoa, I've been reading the beginning of this thread for a bit tonight, funny to see the guru's asking for advice, before they became the gurus they are today...haha...
  18. Is it possible to work out a ton, and then have a really toned body underneath the fat? So then, when you lost that weight, you'd have a completly toned body underneath? Or does muscle building and weight loss go together like that? I was just wondering. Thanks.
  19. So many things wrong here. First of all, whenever you're keen on a girl and trying to attract her, you're gaming her whether you're a socially inept nice guy or a pua. We're all 'gaming,' the only difference between me and the next guy is that I have a clue, and I have a wider choice. The goal of gaming isn't to get laid, it's whatever you want it to be. Gaming also isn't restricted to clubs and pubs only. Girls use 'methods' to attract guys, do you think they wear high heals and miniskirts because they are comfortable? Our 'methods' are different because guys and girls are attracted to different things. Girls aren't objectified, it just sounds like that in pick up material because it's an efficient way to get a point across. It's a HB8, rather than a-really-attractive-female-who-is-equal-to-men-and-has-feelings-too-and-isn't-a-sex-object. Oneitis is basically when a guy is obsessed with a girl he has next to no chance with, no other girl will do, and he can't see that his efforts are futile. The more he likes her and the longer he is around her the more he screws it up for himself. It's not an actual relationship. [/hide]Even if the point isn't just getting laid, it definitely still gives the impression that this is the point. And I really did think oneitis just meant you were focusing on one girl, and just ignoring the rest (Ignoring in terms fo attraction, not socially). Now I definitely have to agree that oneitis is a bad thing. So pretty much I gotta admit that you've cleared it up, but I still don't think that doing anything with the sole intention of getting a girl is a good thing, it should always be about enjoying yourself. Again, the concept of gaming gives that impression. Pretty much, gaming is enjoying yourself...that's the point...think of it like (referenceomglol) to Runescape. You could be a noob, getting killed all the time, losing drops to other, more leveled players...or you could be a 138, having the skills to get pretty much whatever you want...either way, you enjoy yourself, but the main difference is obvious.
  20. You know, I'm starting to wonder what the percentage of posts in this thread relate to the friendzone.
  21. Little fun fact...there's a usual stall in average conversation every 7 minutes...I was talking to a girl, then ran out of things to say, and strangely enough, it'd be seven minutes since I bit the bullet and said hi.
  22. For $100, it shouldn't be crap...I unfortunately have to have my Xbox in a place where no other device picks up wifi, and somehow I'm able to play on live (most games) just fine. Not sure how it does it, but for you it should be fine.
  23. I didn't really see a gaming setup thread on here, so I figured it'd be cool to have a place where fellow TIF'ers could share their setups, rigs, rooms, and 'command centers' (?...). Just post a pic with your PC gaming setup, console gaming setup, or both. Under your pic, list all your nifty components and what not. I've been considering making a dedicated space for gaming, so, go ahead and give me and others some inspiration.
  24. Plus, all of the products in their gaming series are original, innovative, and original. All their stuff is top of the line. All of their stuff is also expensive.
