Low blood pressure and thyroid problem.. It's weird because I'm nowhere near over weight but if I push down, I have double neck LOL (not to make fun of anyone overweight or with big necks) I just think it looks funny on myself. You don't think I could get it do you? Nearly every relative I know has diabetes :ohnoes: :uhh: I would be really scared because I have a phobia of needles... I have a bad thyroid problem also and am required to take .088 mg or whatever dosage it is everyday and usually my mom has to remind me :\ I don't think you'd be afraid of needles after the IVs have been in you for a few days, I don't really recall of having a fear of needles but I do know I used to request the butterfly needles(FYI, as a diabetic I know this is true, smaller needles ALWAYS hurt MORE then the longer needles) for shots but now it doesn't matter. After 8 years I'm used to the tiny puncture scabs on my finger tips. :)

I RARELY post on tip it aside from the odd post in the runescape sections and the need to defend myself in the music section on these forums but I got to wondering something, and that question is, how many diabetics are on tip it? I've been diabetic for 8 years now(Type 1) and am currently 16, got it when I was 8. I guess to really open the discussion I can retell my tale of discovering I even had the disease. It was 1999 in the summer and I'll say I must've had the disease for a good 1-2 weeks before we even realized ANYTHING was wrong. At night I would ask for extra glasses of water, ice, anything to sooth the feeling of my blood sugar being high but it seemed as soon as I drank the water my thirst came back with a vengeance but we didn't think anything of it, I mean I was 8 and really no relatives down in Louisiana had Diabetes so we passed it off as a weird cold or something. A week or so(details are fuzzy,can't remember the exact details if I could) later I was starting to throw up profusely and after my mom got off work from baby sitting for these children she took me to the nearest child clinic(note:covington louisiana isn't a large town and the clinic is really small). I had been barfing my lunch the whole day and low and behold, 50 other kids had to be plugged up in the clinic with appointments which meant they couldn't see me, OH NO, a kid throwing up profusely into their toilets wasn't enough to justify a visit even if we didn't have an appointment, jerks. So my mom brought me home and we were going to wait til tuesday to bring me to the same clinic and she had to go do a night sitting with another family so she left me at home with my dad. My dad isn't the sharpest man, only passed high school because of his teachers and that was around the mid 70s I guess he graduated? They werent learning alot back then is all I can say, he's a welder. So apparently I was told I fell asleep on our sofa and looked like the grim reaper in person, only I looked dead and my dad had enough sense to rush me up to the St Tammany Parish Hospital(coincidentally it's like, 2 miles or so from the clinic -_-) and I was sipping an orange soda at the time, mmmm orange soda, my favorite drink. The bastard doctors took one look at me and hooked me up with IVs and promptly removed me from my orange soda much to my disdain. We were told I had diabetes, basically flew me across Lake Ponchatrain to New Orleans where they continued treatment of my whooping 1200 or so blood sugar(earlier that day I had drank around, 4-5 sodas? Owned :() and was told I had a 50/50 chance of making it out alive. Of course I'm alive and all but I was wondering if anyone else here at TIF has had the same experiences or if you do have diabetes how does it feel when your blood sugar is low? I usually feel a slight bit weak but that's around it, only dizzy when I'm under 30(I test myself to see how low I can go while concious sometimes, not the smartest thing to do but so far I've made it to 27, trying to get my monitor to tell me LO) Discuss?
